2nd Best Man.........the guy who introduced Alison to my friend (Mark) was made Best Man in honour of being the one most responsible for getting them together.

It was a cracking weekend.

Honor...Honor....why do you Brits insist on adding "U" where it is not needed? Do you have a surplus of them or something?

I prefer 'L' & 'R' on the soles of the shoes. For added comedy, on the wrong shoes. No-one will ask me to be best man again

Well, actually, that's kind of the problem - the English really didn't decide how to spell much of anything - the loan word spelling got accepted willy-nilly, so there are really any spelling rules...

Fact is that some people in the States insisted on changing the spelling of some words and so on... just to break the ties and in some God knows why way be cool or something... and well now you have honor and in Europe we prefer to use the original honour form instead of the fake Anyways what can you say about the changes according to which you can use infinitive forms instead of inflected ones to all persons and it is ok Smells like Jamica... We be jammin

Actually, Teddy Roosevelt got through the spelling reforms...

There have been some studies that have shown that if English had spelling reform, there is a good chance that it would adopted as the "official world language" or somesuch... i think the authors might have been smoking some illicit plants, but there you have it...

The next thing you know you will be like the French and the Italians throwing in silent letters. If it is silent why is it even there? As a spare in case on of the other letters breaks?
