I am stuck in the first season of my League.

Searching the forum and release notes, it appears that this bug has supposedly been "fixed" in several previous patches.

Is anyone else encountering this problem with v1.60? Is there a known fix/workaround?

This is keeeeeilling me! :)

Thanks, all!

Could you elaborate a little more, OC? When you say you are stuck, at what point or stage is it happening?

One of the errors that were fixed in the 1.60 release was something that had shot down one of my associations. I had started a real association in 2006 and had turned on Player Affinity. The computer began having problems determining affinity for a time frame that isn't specified; i.e. it couldn't tell what team Barry Bonds (for example) wanted to stick with in 2008 when the database didn't have values for him in that year. I'm not sure exactly WHAT the release did to correct it, but it was corrected nonetheless. The problem didn't arise until I was beginning my 4th year of the association, but that does not mean that it couldn't happen sooner.

Sure thing...

I am in July of my first season, and as I am simming games (Sim through <date>) at some point (presumably between days) when it goes through the teams Evaluating Talent/Trades/etc. it comes to San Francisco, where the little status window continually loops between:

San Francisco thinking...
San Francisco Evaluating GM/Managerial tendencies...

f I click on "Stop Sim Now" (or whatever it is, Upper-Right) button, the dialog box pops up with the "Sim will stop after this day is completed" message <OK>.

I click OK, then the status window loops at the

San Francisco Evaluating GM/Managerial tendencies...

message. The game is frozen and I have to "End Task" to kill it.

I am using the MLB 2007-60man (MLB 2007B.PSA) add-in from PadreFan's website, if that helps/matters.

Interesting...

I loaded up my Association again from my last good backed up /psa directory, and checked out San Francisco. I noticed they only had 59 players on their roster. Looking at their transactions, I see that on 5/29/07 Dave Roberts suffered a Career-ending injury, and SF never signed a FA to fill the roster spot (see image).

I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I will try to manually add a 60th player to their roster (sign a FA) and see if that helps....

Signing a FA for San Francisco appears to have resolved the issue - at least for now.

SUMMARY: If you encounter this loop, check the "looping" team to see if they have 60 players on their roster. If not, make the proper adjustments. This was a CPU-controlled team, btw.

Glad you solved the problem, OC Angel. We'd discussed the problem with 60-man rosters before. I frankly think it should top out at 55, especially when using real players. It remains an open issue.

Frankly, I still feel a 40- or 45- man roster would work best. You'd have your 25 players in the majors and just a variety of 15-to-20 players in the minors. Is a very good compromise, especially when playing real associations. I've found that 35-player rosters are disasterous for countless reasons- either you don't have enough of a farm system to plan for the future or for injuries and/or you also end up losing players that really were on the team, just not in the top-35, as I suffered in my Replay_2006 association.

When I recently started a Replay_1997 association to see if I could get the Marlins to the World Series on my own, I opted for a 55-man roster. It was nice, as I gained more than 35 players that were on the team, but at the same time it was an issue, because I had to stuff about 10-12 scrubs into Single-A.

KG & Frozen, while I agree with you that there should be other roster size options, you both are going off track here a bit. I'm also glad that OC has found a work-around for this issue but the problem is, there is still an issue.

This issue has popped up before and Shaun has made patches to fix it but it seems that it has popped up again. If the AI can't figure out that it needs to sign another player then that is an issue.

The cool thing about this thread... is that we now know that CEI's are still in the game. They must just be extremely rare because it's been a very longtime since I've seen one.

Career Ending Injury

In older versions of Puresim they seemed to happen more frequently. Shaun for whatever reason(I'm sure he had a good one I just can't remember) took them out.. or at least I thought he did because I haven't had one in probably years(literally). Now seeing this I know that CEI's are still in the game just they must be extremely rare.
