Ok - I am well into my first game as the CP - it is the May/June turn of 1915 - Serbia, Belgium have surrendered - Paris is captured and France weak - Russian front is stable - Bulgaria just joined the CP opening up resources from the Ottomans (got to play with this and see how it works) - Italian front starting to show some units so have transferred two Austrian corps there - in general I think I am doing OK

My question is this - I have no clue what is going on with the naval part of this game - I have read the manual and understand the basics.

Here is what I tried to do
1. The naval screen wants me to put 2 transports in the Baltic and 6 in the Atlantic - I tried this and one turn I think picked up two extra resource materials because of this - but only one turn - none of the others - could someone explain this concept to me

2. I sent out a raiding force from Wilhelshaven to the Baltic trying to clear the Russian fleet thinking this might interfer with me transports in the Baltic - Instead they ended up in the North Sea for a turn or two then got to the Baltic (I think) but never fought the Russian fleet which still dominates the Baltic - what did I do wrong?

3. Lastly I sent out uboats on anti shipping missions to bothe thew North Sea and North Atlantic - can I just leave them out there indefinitley or do I need to recall them - do they cost naval points when they are out there?

Any help at all on the Naval Principles in thsi game would be a real help.

Lastly two land questions
1. Can artillety units enter enemy hexes if they have been in the activation zone of a HQ?

2. I had a infantry unit in Serbia that could move into enemy hexes even though it was not activated by a HQ unit - this unit single handedly captured most of Serbia with the use of any HQ

Thanks for any help

Jack

If those transports weren't destroyed or damaged you should receive those resources and food each turn.

To operate in the Baltic you should first rebase from Wilhelmshaven to Rostock through the Kiel Canal.  However, the game seems to be wanting to make you go around Denmark where you're probably being intercepted by the British.  I fixed this in the patch (not yet available).

They only cost a naval point to send them out, they'll stay out there as their endurance allows or until damaged.

No

Do you have a save of this occurring?  I'd really like to see this.

What is the endurance for the various naval units?

Frank - I have a copy of a saved game file which shows the behavior of the Austrian unit in Serbia from above. Where do you want me to send it?
