The 1280x1024 resolution makes the game pleasant to view on a 1600x1200 screen.

I have a cav unit in the hex adjacent and SW to Krakow.  I could not move into the city on my orders turn, although i owned it at start of turn.  The only movement choice i had was south.  But looking south, there is no clear hex left in Austrian territory to get past that mountain range and at the Russians.  Is strategic moving all i can do now to get over the mountains (east)?  Or either head NW towards the gap in the mountains south of Breslau?

It might be nice if cav could move into friendly cities...........

Yep...

That definitely is true. Cavalry cannot move into friendly cities.

But on the other hand... nice patch!

I especially like the way the amphibious interface now works... excellent in fact.

OBTW... when French reinforcements arrived at Brest I tried to amphibiously move them to Dunkirk. In the orders phase the amphibious menu was available and they actually moved there, but in the resolution phase they didn't move (they stayed in Brest). I'm thinking the French can't use the British transports that were in the North Sea or something. Is this correct?

Well not unless you have amphibious points available in the atlantic - Brest doesn't border the North Sea

I've had two problems since installing the beta update and playing as TE.
1. I've had various amphibious operations not move though I've had sufficient ampibious points in and control of the sea zone(s).
2. Been unable to attack from Egypt into any of the Ottoman controlled hexes (all 3) on that border despite activating the headquarter and the units stacked with it (2 Inf, 1 Cav). Used the initial complement of 3 activations and an activation point that was reinforced to the headquarters. I also dispersed them over a two hex front and tried, so four failures of the units to follow through on ordered moves. An attack from India to Basra worked.

I had a problem with 1 as well. I twice tried to move the BEF to Dunkirk. The new screen allowed me to select dunkirk, I had the transports in Situ, they shifted to Dunkirk after I selected it as the destination and then disappeared back to Southampton during turn resolution. They were on the French coast but then returned home without orders.

I may be doing something wrong but can anyone else quickly test and confirm this, since it's a showstopper if true. (At least until Mr Hunter fixes it. My compliments on the level of support and visibility, Frank, this was not on my radar initially but has been a real gem to discover. )

regards,
IronDuke

On the amphibious, I check a "summary" to see whether amphib moves can be made and it appears that summary is accurate most of the time but sometimes when its actually attempted the summary turns out to be wrong.

I will check this today but I think it might be because its a WEGO system and the situation during the orders phase and at the time its actually being carried out aren't the same.  On the other hand if it turns out to be a glitch in the summary itself I'll fix it.

Regarding Amphibious movement i was the PBEM opponent of Ulver (see his new thread) and can confirm that attempted amphibious movement was not carried out even though:

* The sea zones was controlled by the Entente.
* Embarkation point was not under attack.
* Disembarkation point was not under attack.
* Disembarkation point was friendly controlled.

hjaco, do you guys still have your last PBEM saves where that happens?  It could be a big help in tracking the issue.

I think they are still tackling issues that have come up during beta testing.

Just a gentle reminder that a non beta public release usually happens once the beta testing/fixes are done

Hm, have you tried right-clicking on the link and choosing "Save Target As" to see if that helps?

I tried that initially, but noticed it was saving an HTML file. Then I realized what the issue was. I need to stay away from the KB on low caffeine levels. :)

I"ve got the same issue, right clicking only gives me a choice of "saving link as" and it saves a .asp file????

Thanks for all the saved games sent to me, it was a big help in tracking down the problems.  I've handed in what I think is the ready-to-go version 1.1

First Impulse of a new 1914 CP side game. The 3 Austrian Arty won't fire, tho they had "L" on them. They did fire on the 2nd impulse tho with no action on my part.

Haven't seen this one reported yet but we are in our first "beta" patch game and the first impulse of the Sept-Oct 1914 turn the French have no rail points? Kind of kills the French ability to counter the German advances, anyone run into this yet? Any reason why this should happen or is this a bug?

IIRC the French only ever got 4 rail points in that strat turn - enough to move 2 corps forward from Brest to Paris.

4 is a lot better than 0 in this early turn, that's enough to move 4 of the close in reserve corps to the front line, now none of them can make it. Is this intentional to help the Germans or a bug? Alos got 0 russian rail points....

I believe that on turn 1 (or 1st turn of war) powers have bo rail capacity due to mobilisation needs. IIRC its in the manual. maybe the 4 France had before the patch were in error. JMO

The French have no rail capacity in August.  But in Septemeber they should have 4, I just ran it to make sure and I had 4.

You shouldn't count your defense on rail movement anyway because that means you have just suffered strategic surprise
