ahhh

guess you don't know who or what Gottfried Dulias is

basicily he is a guy who after the war, now claims he was a ACE with JG53, but nobody from any of the Gruppen of 53 know or remember him, none of his kills show up as his claims or as Allied losses (in late 44/early 45 he claims 3 I-16s)

he has a book out and is on the air show circut, and shows up in a White LW uniform with awards and all, was suppost to be a guest speaker at a major US Aces get together and then due to complaints, was pulled

when questioned about his service, he basicly says, hey he is old and can't remember everything, but he does not remember who he flew with, but the bases he says he was at, JG 53 didn't fly out of

now he is starting to show up in some of the lists, and now they are making art of the plane he flew, shortly this stuff will become fact

Threads on various forums have been running about the validity of herr Dulias' claims. One of the longer running ones is here.

http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=1947&highlight=Dulias

If Dulias wanted to prove he was who he says he is he could obtain his war time records from the Bundesarchiv as all records for Lw officers survived the war and he could prove his detractors wrong. His reluctance to do this only supports the "evidence" that he is indeed a fraud.

Reason for Edit - Typo

If I recall correctly I read that Günther Rall said "look at this sad fellow" when he saw the above picture of Gottfried Dulias.

Not only does no one from JG 53 remember him but nobody from any Jagdgeschwader remembers him. I'd say his book is definitely a case of Caveat Emptor.

Sad that a man his age feels a need to lie like that for some royalties...

He probably lived that long with this lie he started to believe it's the truth.

one hassle with him, is, while he knows what he is talking about, he don't know enough of it, people who are not experts, blow holes in his story, then the real experts get into it, and he starts to claim age and brainwashing

overall, don't care about him, more power to him, only hassle is he ruins things for the people who did fight and die doing it
