I am ok with trying the house rule seems logical to limit GB and France a bit.

I have no particular preference on the optional rules I'll go with the majority as I have very limited experience at this point.

Erik I hear you on the time thing you are right. I am ok with limiting it to 12 hr turnaround as you suggest.

On the optional rules the only one I disagree with is the leader casualties. I saw a game where France and Prussia went at it in Mar 05 and Napoleon died. We decided right then to just have him out for 6 months. Leaders are very important part of the game system, and I don't like random luck having that much impact on the game.

I may be wrong but I do not believe we have heard from Leopoldo since he first opened this.

Please keep in mind we already have a posted request to join the game dated 12/24 from Mardonius. We should honor it if he is still interested.

No offense to Mardonius, I had three other people inquire when they saw the forum posts and send me bid files awhile ago for this game in case we needed another and I told them I would let me know in case , so I really think we should take the first one from that list to be fair???

So that means we are ready to go...I will do the bids today and send them out..

one other thing, Marshall told me that they are releasing the patch early next week..and I am heading to a wedding this weekend anyways...so I would suggest that we do the bids and not start playing until the patch comes out...cause I know that we might want the Ottomans to actually get the moral boost they are supposed to if we play this, things like that which the patch will correct....

unless anyone knows if the patch will be compatible with already started games?

Erik:

No offense taken. That said, please note that I reckon it would be more transparent if you went by the publicly posted notices. I did not send any bids earlier only because there was no solicitation for such bids. All other acceptees were posted in the light of day in a public forum and, if I were running things, I would continue with such a policy.

best
Mardonius

I can not agree. Mardonius should have the spot. He posted his request B4 any bids were done and before we agreed to have you host. I do not know Mardonius personally and I do not know who sent you bids. I do have this problem with fair play I expect it always. I do know I can not in good conscience continue to play, and do not think I will enjoy myself here. Feel free to remove me I hope all have a good time with the game.

Guys the Mardonius situation is a no win one. One thing to remember is that ecn1 is running the game. As the host he takes on certian responsibilities, including keeping a backup list of players. Just because Mardonius posted on the thread does not invalidate any other agreements ecn1 made as game host to anyone who contacted him directly. We have agreed to let him host the game, so let him do his job. I have hosted Play by Email games before and it takes a lot of work. Lets not interfer with the him when he is willing to do that work so we can enjoy a game.

I second Larry. It seemed to me from our host's post that he received those requests prior to Mardonius' post. Seems to me that first come, first added is the best way to go. I think that "fair play" should be extended to our host as well.

that is impossible please review the posts Mardonius made his post on 12/24/07 4:49 and ecn1 did not become host until 12/26/07. Therefore it was an impossibility that ecn1 had received bids as host b4 Mardonius had put his request in.

But he stated that he recieved three bids from other people before Mardonius sent in his bids. This is after he requested bids. I am sorry that Mardonius delayed sending in his bids, but at least three people beat him to it.

Personally, I do not care who the final person is. What I care about is that the person who volunteered to do something nice is already being attacked before we have even started the game. What is going to happen after it starts?

I guess we will just have to disagree on this then. I do agree that this discussion is doing no one any good. I do not have any desire to ruin the game for others. So I will just wish all a good game.

Hi All,

Well, I invited Mardonius but he declined in the end....but we have Joseph who sent me his bid files..

I sent you all an email, also an invite to our google group, but here are the bid results

France - Larry 30pts
UK - Erik - 20pts
Russia - Denxis - 12pts
Austria - Trent - 18pts
Prussia - Joseph - 10pts
Spain - Kenneth - 3pts
Turkey AGT4533 - 4pts

Starting war: France and UK

Once everyone confirms to the invite to the group and responds to my email, I will start the game files and we can start setup!

Email me with questions, in my mind after this we should confine correspondence to email and the google group now

best

erik
