Why is EVERYONE cheering for the downfall of the poor, peaceful French??

France didn't start these wars.
France just wants to bring peace, love and revolutionary enlightenment to
her neighbors

Nobody likes France. Get used to it ;)

Prepare for a series of endless coalitions against you. If you wouldn't rather FIGHT allies than BE one, you are playing the wrong country!

Suggest Prussia takes surrender then allies with France--and agree to support France in AUstria=--let Fr declare war on AUstria bring ing you in and carve up Austria--make sure you at least get some commitment from Russia ie alliance or tacit agreement to lay off --use points gained from AUstria demise to recoup and try to ally with GB and SPain against Fr later.

OK; here are the results (partway thru the Feb 1805 Reinforcement phase)

GB DOWs Denmark; Russia gets control
Prussia DOWs Thuringia; France gets control
Prussia DOWs Wurttember; France gets control

Alliances (successful):

Britain - Prussia
Britain - Russia
Prussia - Austria
Turkey - France

Alliance attempts (unsuccessful) {Requestor} > {Requestee}

Turkey > Britain
Turkey > Russia
Austria > Russia

Here is the status of the central war:

Prussia has removed 1 corp & Bagration from Berlin; transferring
2I to the garrison & an unknown number to the Prussian II corp
(It's possible to tell that that was the corp that fought Nappy because
the corp counter shows a "1" on the bottom which is the remaining MOVEMENT
of that corp from last turn [this is probably a security bug that should be fixed])

Surely you mean Brunswick?

So how badly did you smash the Prussians?

Suspect Austrian Intervention too little too late.  FR can crush Prussians quickly then go after the Austrians.  In most games where FR is sucessfully cornered early PR and AU should begin allied--let FR attack taking PP losses etc.  If they can start allied with RU even better.  Me thinks AU made a mistake but time will tell.

Opps; you are VERY correct about BRUNSWICK.

Havn't really smashed Prussians too badly - yet
(kill 20I & 1C for a total loss of 5I [4 foraging])

And now Prussia just gave France 2 more Free States for free right there - I just can't see Prussia succeeding in Conqing either of those two with Napoleon's stack in walking distance + the extra corps in reserve in Liege...

If Austria succeeds in teaming up with Russia and gets a GB corp or so they might have a chance to at least give France a run for the money at this stage. Maybe.

Talk about rocket start for France! It's even better than IRL!

There's a certain amount of sense in putting all of the Prussian inf into garrisons. At least then it gets to roll on the 5-2 table against attacking Frenchmen, and doesn't cost a PP when it gets killed. Why the war is continuing, however, is still beyond me.

Ah - but the 5-2 table only applies against attacking Frenchmen who make breakin attempts...
not against attacking Frenchmen who sit outside the city walls drinking champaingn;
stealing <<<<<<<< requisitioning the local farmer's pigs and carousing with the local
farm girls  while the poor Prussians starve inside the city.

Actually; I suspect that the war may be ending soon & the reason for putting the troops
into garrison is to cut down on the losses if I take "Kill 3 corp" as a victory condition.

Umm...is Prussia gettin' close to instability? Or does he hope to be able to "keep" Julich and Wurtemburg for surrender purposes?

Even the AI would'a sued for peace by now....

Does'nt seem to be very many "clever" devils in this game. Since you only completed three months, you ought to re-start...but only if the Prussian and British players promise to wise up. The Russian is not too bright either. Maybe GB, Prussia, and Russia players deserve this head-ache of a game. I feel bad for Austria. Consider this bad start as a tutorial. Its giving me a headache just reading this AAR.

Well, yes it is a tutorial. And you have to remember that all is not lost in this game just because Prussia is left in ashes in the 4th month of the game. All nations are resilient, and its still another 116 months to go! That said, it will be interesting to see if lessons will be learned. If so, France might fall due to its own arrogance, lulled into a sense of its own supremacy. Stranger things have happened!

And what would you suggest Great Britain should have done differently? I've made three errors that I have noticed, but they are hardly worthy of a "wise up" comment.

NOTE: I'm not about to explain my strategies in an open forum. I'm Britain, after all. But, you shouldn't take my relative silence as stupidity. "Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise. When he closes his mouth, he is counted prudent." (3000 year old counsel from THE wise man: Solomon.)

My dear Sir, if this narrative is boring you may I suggest you not read any further and perhaps join a game (without your remarks please)for august experts like yourself.

Sir ess1: Well, I aint had much book lernin, but I done did aprediate yours callen me Augustus and God and all...I like ta dink I be all dat in EiA...dat why I remark ta yall.

Jimmer(GB): no problem with not explaining strategy, etc...and did'nt mean to insult with the "wise up" comment...just a little kick in the rear-end. I think GB should be the foremost diplomatic power/effort(most vocal)...organizing and leading the anti-French coalition, and keeping them in line. The most important thing is to keep Prussia and Austria(and Russia) on the same page and hopefully in a nice big 12 corp grouping with Charles on Theresienstadt for maximum flexibility and defense, and have all three along with GB begin the game at war with France. You need to get Russia to get their @ss into the fight. Prussia fighting France alone is not only a disaster for Prussia and Austria, but a breakdown in the responsibility of GB. Diplomacy is the biggest factor in EiA...as Clausewitz wrote: "not all in warfare is military". Being "relatively silent" has given France an awesome start to this game and put the Allies in a bind. Now you have to hope France makes a mistake for the Allies to recover. If France is smart he will have the Germany's in a rotation. Frankly, if I'm France I'm looking at Spain and asking WTF!...allied to GB??? Time to park Le Grande Armee in Spain after the Germany's surrender...and make it a harsh surrender...no need to see a strong Prussian army with Blucher in the next war. Maybe the Austrian army can keep away from any major battles with Napy for 1.5 to 3 years?...I doubt it...or maybe head for the Russian border and link up with Kutusov. As Odysseus wrote in post #55 "all is not lost...all nations are resilient", and as we say here in our F2F games..."its a long game". In EiA everyone needs to talk to everyone often...if a player in EiA does not, that player is SCREWED! At least that is what have seen in my 15 years of playing this game F2F.
