Hi guys just got my copy of Norman Friedmans "British Destroyers and Frigates The Second World War and After" its a great book with lots of proposed projects and cancelled refits for example 3 proposed refits for the Daring Class Destroyer in the early 1960's Refit 1 Radars updated to :- Type 278,993 and 965 radars Fire control radars updated to :- Type 903/4 for 4.5" , Type 262 for Seacat. EW updated to :- UA-8/9 and Type 667 Jammers. Sonars updated to :- Type 170 and 177 and Type 199 VDS. Weapons updated to :- 2 x 4.5" mk6, 2 single 20mm mk7, Mk10 Limbo, 2 x Seacat GWS 21 and a hanger and pad for 1 Wasp helo. Refit 2 Radars updated to :- Type 278,993 and 965 radars Fire control radars updated to :- Type 903/4 for 4.5" , Type 262 for Seacat EW updated to :- UA-8/9 and Type 667 Jammers. Sonars updated to :- Type 170 and 184 and Type 199 VDS Weapons updated to :- 2 x 4.5" mk6, 2 single 20mm mk7, Mk10 Limbo, 2 x Seacat GWS 21 and a hanger and pad for 1 Wasp helo. Refit 3 Radars updated to :- Type 278,992 and 965 radars Fire control radars updated to :- Type 903 for 4.5" , 2 x AN/SPG-51 for Tartar EW updated to :- UA-8/9 and Type 667 Jammers. Sonars updated to :- Type 184. Weapons updated to :- 2 x 4.5" mk6, 2 single 20mm mk7, 2 x Mk32 triple tubes, Mk11 single arm Tartar Launcher. These are just a taste of platforms I will be building, anybody wanting any details of other platforms Rag, Quinton as this book covers up to present day , with cancelled designs of the Type 24 and other wierd platforms hehe
