The tournament AARs are interesting to follow and as soon as I'll have the time, I'll try the mods out myself. One little suggestion though: Please indicate the mod used in the AAR thread titles (some did that already), it makes it easier to keep in mind who is playing what. Thanks!

Oh, and this thread should get a sticky, methinks.

Tom,

Thanks for letting me play for the first round of the tourney! Once my opponent finishes me off, I am hoping to cede place back to you if you are willing. I am a little out of my depth and probably should be using my time a bit better now that all my classes have resumed.

Grateful if you could advise whether you would be willing to "tag in."

Cheers,

Sean

Hi guys,

I just wanted to point out again that unfortunately there is a bug in the release Global Glory v3.00. The Japanese gift will expire in Summer 1941, contrary to the documentation and the intent. It is supposed to expire in 1943 unless Japan does mean things.

I placed a data file patch in the mod thread here. Unfortunately, this will only work for new games, not games in progress.

Hey Guys, excellent progress on the tourney.
I seem to be the slowest player.
Well, I will be away on vacation all week and will not be able to reply to any posts untill Sun Feb3.

When I get back I will catch all the scoreing up.
Keep up the good play.

Scoreing is located at 2nd post.
Great Job so far and some of you guys really can turn those turns very quickly.
You do not have to wait if you want to start your games in the future rounds and your opponent is ready to play.

This is to confirm that I am unable to proceed with the tournament. My MBA programme has become too time-consuming for me to devote the necessary time to proceed. I would have liked to avenge my poor performancy in round one, but I simply cannot spare the time. I truly regret any inconvenience this might cause.

Sincerely,

Sean

Sorry to hear that Lucky1.
Tom Hunter it looks like you are back in the tourney.
The way I will handle scoreing for whomever takes Lucky1s place is:
1) they will play the 3 remaining rounds
2) I will divide there total score from those 3 rounds by 3 and that will be there score for round1

Your in GKar.
Welcome aboard and best of luck to ya.
I have updated the match-ups for rounds 2-4
Your average score for the last 3 rounds will be your score for round 1.

Thanks GKar -- a little guilt falls off my shoulders.... If it is any consolation, I am getting good marks! I look forward to watching the AARs.

Doug, I'm going to concede the game to you, and will inform MrQuiet. I'm doing so because I'm just not interested in playing any more. My interest in AWD has waned at the moment

I have tried to get Lebatron to change his mind but no response.
It looks like we are recruiting a replacement player agian

Post here if you are interested.
Replacement will play rounds 2-4 and his average score for those 3 rounds will be considered his score for round1

Too bad

I guess I am looking for a new player for my round 2 UV game. Any takers who plan to stay with the tourney until round 4?

What's up with the Lightning Tourney? There seems to be little to no progress in round 2, including my own game () which seems to be the only round 2 match despite round 1 being finished. Just asking because I'm struggling with motivation myself, but would continue if the tourney wasn't dead anyway.

Sorry Guys but I also have lost much motivation in this.
We are down at least one player (Leb) and there does not seem to be a whole lot of interest from the others except maybe Sgt Rice.

I am willing to carry on but I dont have much faith in getting replacements, and with the non flexible match ups we would have to replace drop outs.
So I am leaning toward letting this tourney die but willing to carry on if the interest is there.

I am still put there, too. Suggest to gather the final bunch of players and play a round of games where everybody plays each nation once,
e.g. with 4 players:

WA SU Ger Jap
1    2    3    4     game one
2    3    4    1     game two
and so on.
First 4 that sign up play. Players with a visible track record of sticking with the games are strongly preferred!

The scenario would be the latest GG 3.0 mod. Scoring could be the same as in the lighning tourney, including fast play points. I am not including the UV2.1 mod as its support seems to be uncertain without Lebatron.

Anyone interested?

I'm still available. I would really like to see a good sample of GG results to get an idea of play balance; are there any bulletproof strategies available to one side or the other, etc.

Marshall Art your idea sounds pretty darn good, and like Sgt Rice said I would like to see more end game results from GG3.0.
But are you talking about 1vs1 games or 2 vs 2?

I was thinking about 2x2 initially but for the sake of game duration and risk of player casualties it is probably better to make it 1-on-1 games.

How about that: With players No. 1, 2, 3, etc. We have the following pairs in round 1 (First listed plays the Axis, second gets to play the Allies):
No.1 vs No.2; No.3 vs. No.4; and so on. If there is an odd number, the 5th player has a round off. If we find 6, it's No.5 vs. No.6.

Round two sports:
No.2 vs. No.3; No.4 vs. No.5; No.6 vs. No. 1. If there are only 5 players, No.1 has a round off. With 4 players No.4 plays No.1.

you get the point. In the end everybody has played each opponent once. No eliminations, we are happy to keep everybody onboard. We might even consider switching sides later but that's a plan for 2009 I am afraid...

How about a one-week sign-in period?

Hi all. Although I am still in my MBA program, it wraps up in September, so I might be available to resume the AAR then (if only in a new format). Otherwise, I have a couple of weeks where I can PBEM (without AAR - I find that aspect rather time-consuming to do properly). Dunno if there are any takers, or whether active forum members are now distracted with GG A War Between States. I purchased the latter, but my eyes quickly glazed over. Is like reading financial statements.... Lots of stats and numbers....

Anyhow, I will check forums regularly. If anyone is interested in a quick PBEM or two during the next few weeks, I can generally play a turn or two daily, depending on time zone differences.

If interested, email me at sean_mcluckie@yahoo.ca

Cheers,

Sean (Lucky1)
