Good call! Carry on from a Di'Anno song though :-

Iron Maiden - Charlotte The Harlot

Kinda of freaky. I'm trying to cop hold of a real life Charlotte right now. If she has her legs in the air I am going to be a happy man

Well to keep this jukebox rolling along, here's some Aussie rock 'n roll!

Rose Tattoo - Bad boy for love

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=JyDjNIxnR0g

I honestly hadn't even heard of them before, but one of the band members passed away quite recently, and the band was mentioned as being early contemporaries to AC/DC ... They certainly have a similar sound

Die With Your Boots On
Wasted Years
Running Free
Remember Tomorrow
Run To The Hills
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Can I Play With Madness
Different World
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns

Yes, some great music.

Maiden is so much better with Adrian Smith on board.  He is a master of guitar licks.

I was hoping Smith would find his way to Def Leppard in order to rock them up after Steve Clark died.  Def Leppard picked up Vivian Campbell instead, which should have done it, but Viv doesn't run his guitar through the same axe-grinder with Leppard as he did with Dio.

When Smith found his way back to Iron Maiden, it gave the band a renewed kick in the pants.

AC/DC - Ride On

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJQVjR4IGPY

Good to see that Bon is still remembered.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/tayside_and_central/7405545.stm

The last of the rock n roll wild men. A poetic honesty in his lyrics.

quote:

It's another lonely evening
And another lonely town
But I ain't too young to worry
And I ain't too old to cry
When a woman gets me down
Got another empty bottle
And another empty bed
Ain't too young to admit it
And I'm not too old to lie
I'm just another empty head

That's why I'm lonely
I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do -

I'm gonna ride on Ride on
Ride on, standing on the edge of the road
Ride on, thumb in the air
Ride on, one of these days I'm gonna
Ride on, change my evil ways
Till then I'll just keep dragging on

Broke another promise
And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
'Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat

But I'm lonely
Lord I'm lonely
What am I gonna do -

Ride on
Ride on, got myself a one-way ticket
Ride on
Ride on, going the wrong way
Ride on, gonna change my evil ways
Ride on, one of these days
One of these days

Ride on
Ride on
I'm gonna ride on
Ride on, looking for a truck
Ride on
Ride on, keep on riding
Riding on and on and on

Ride on Bon

Alestorm, 'Captain Morgan's Revenge'.

When I come back from a mighty quest
I have no need for sleep or rest
I head to a tavern for a drink
And get so drunk I cannot think
A wench by my side and a jug of mead
These are the things that I most need
So I sit back and sing this song
And drink and party all night long

Hey! Hey!
I want more wenches
Hey! Hey!
More wenches and mead
Hey! Hey!
I want more wenches
Lots of wenches is what I need

One that I save for when Mrs Herts is out somewhere!

With lyrics like that, I just had to find a link! I think we have a new genre here. Pirate Metal!

I'm an old guy too but a metal-head from the late 70's on...you guys have got to check out Dream Theater's Train of Thought album.  I've been burning the bits off of this one for the last 3 years.

This Dying Soul

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VYAUqAVy6Y

Also Kamelot's last two albums (3 with the live album thrown in) are amazing.

Two good videos to see their range. The first is March of Mephisto...rocking!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0yYxOV-bRU

Second is Memeno Mori which is just amazing:

God I hated Level 42 with a passion! Even back in the day. Thanks for bringing those puke-inspiring memories back

If you are going to do the 80's, at least do them proper!

The Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way

Jimmy Sommerville might have a head shaped like a King Edwards spud, but the boy could belt out a good tune

While I'm on a 80's kick -

UB40 - Red, Red Wine

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rg1iEBWxVeQ

Ahh those were the days, stone-washed jeans, deck-chair shirts, Pringle jumpers, splashing on half a bottle of Kouros before I hit the pub, a different bird on my arm every week.....

Ageing disgracefully sucks

Ah well, I was young and impressionable then! Still, you gotta admit it's a catchy tune

Here's a Jimmy Sommerville tune I wouldn't have dared to admit liking in the mid '80's when I was in high school, but it's actually really quite good.

Bronski Beat - Smalltown boy

Nothing about Level 42 was ever catchy

Smalltown boy was a great track, strangely enough that is the first time I have ever seen the video to it.

Funny how Jimmey Sommville was being so open about being gay, whilst George Michael was stuffing shuttlecocks down his shorts and acting all macho, while all the time secretly cottaging

A few more great 80's tracks -

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

http://youtube.com/watch?v=K0dfd_L4tDk

The Jam - A Town Called Malice

http://youtube.com/watch?v=r3fDXsPE0Sc

The Specials - Ghost Town

http://youtube.com/watch?v=28TeUbYvXS0

Madness - Baggy Trousers

http://youtube.com/watch?v=rv1EteQhiDo

T'pau - Heart and Soul

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PSh6SQd8UrI

Soul II Soul

Back Too Life - http://youtube.com/watch?v=qvC1ijiyv1c

It wasn't all about hair bands

Good stuff!

- Joy Division - Love will tear us apart.
I've always thought this was a spooky song ... apparently the lead singer killed himself shortly after writing it

- The Jam - Town called malice.
GREAT bassline!

- The Specials - Ghost town
Good song, I like alot of their stuff, but I think this is their best one:
The Specials - Gangsters
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zWZzsxgH2gY Gan

-Madness - Baggy trousers
Hadn't heard that one before ... cool.

-T'Pau - Heart and Soul
-I like the song. The video looks kinda soft porn'ish tho (not that there's anything wrong with that).

-Soul II Soul
-Good stuff!!

Just to reistablish some indie cred here's a rather nasty mid '80's Canadian punk song:

Dayglo Abortions - I killed mommy
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xe8O9B5xfIc&feature=related

Don't say you weren't warned.
