Yes, it's just before the nazis take power again - at least when you look on the streets and see ordinary people show the flag of their country, right?

Any chance we can kill this particular line of discussion before someone gets upset?

Back to the football please!

It's quite hard to accept that there are people in your country that cry out "Nazi" (not in this case, yet, but generally spoken) immediately after you show nothing but your country's flag...

I know that it happens, a similar thing happens here (England) often enough...

EDIT: I wasn't having a dig at anyone BTW, just trying to stop things from getting out of hand as so often seems to happen around here.
I think I understand the sentiment of your original comment. It's possible to hate the national team of Germany/Holland/England/Whoever without actually hating the people

Well, woos hasn't accused anyone of being a Nazi, he's talking about nationalism, which has a somewhat different connotation than 'Nazi'.

Btw, it should be obvious that apart from a few stupid hooligans we do not really hate other teams. The expression is used in the 'talking bullsh....' sense, but is not a sign of genuine hatred.

Well, that may be the problem with the internet. You don't see any emotions on the other side and can interprete too much. As LST says, it's a big difference between hateing a nation and hateing a national team.

If you don't want me to tell you that I don't share your way of expressing your national pride (by hating foreign football teams), then don't tell me what I have to do to be a "good" German football fan.

If their newspapers' only connotation to everything German is "Nazi", then ignore them like a real gentleman would do. If they think spitting is part of the game, show them that you don't have to define yourself by fighting past battles in the stadium.

Well, it is said that referees will be harsher in penalizing simulating fouls. In that case Italy will never leave the grop phase :)

Ah, Football. I mean, real FOOTBALL

Italy or France should get the trophy. But... the Euro Cups are not like World Cups. There are surprises: Greece, Denmark, Czech Republic (they won one Euro Cup).

Cant wait for the game against Austria today. Unfortunatly, due to brutal start of one English player (those Inglanders just can't admit defeat, we lost our killer striker - Eduardo...

Yes, I always liked english soccer - just can't belive that there is so many domestic players there:

Found the english guys there:

http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={91EA3BE2-963A-4BAB-802C-F46A0EF3FCA3}&page=1

PS.

Did Capello start with founding a decent goalkeeper for your national team?

English players are stupidly over valued Average English players are getting bought for more than good foreign players, Eduardo for example cost Arsenal less than half of what Darren Bent cost Spurs

PS. There are some good English goalkeepers around at the moment:
David James (Portsmouth)
Scott Carson (Liverpool, but for how long?)
Ben Foster (Man Utd)
Joe Hart (Man City, young but good)
Robert Green (West Ham Utd)

The bigger problem is the midfield and srikers IMO

PPS: I'm supporting Croatia tonight...

English fans dont like the German team. Portugese cant stand the Spanish. Scots and Welsh want England to lose etc. A bit harsh comapring footbal rivalry to out of hand nationalism
