This one by any chance?

It's fantastic, although Dvorak's 9th is the only symphony I'm familiar with in it's entirety. Look at the violinist in the second row, underneath Karajan's hand. Looks like Bill Murray, eh?
Can you recommend some other similar symphonies for a classical music neophyte? Although I've been listening to classical for over 20 years, I'm pretty much limited to the standards (Rossini overtures, "Best of..." collections and so forth).

Have you seen the movie Master and Commander? Just before the closing credits, they play a little Boccherini tune that I was trying to find the name of for almost 30 years, although I just knew it had to be by Boccherini, by the sound of it.
Here's the short scene at the end of Master and Commander (longer version here).
Another orchestral version here. Another here, from the soundtrack.

"Millie Jackson" Self-Titled LP (1972), (a CD actually)...
This classic Soul-Blues artist who recorded such wierd Albums as "Back to the Sh*t", "Feelin' Bitchy", really had a great classic first offering LP way back in 1972, which includes "If This Is Love", and three 45 Singles :"A Child of God (It's Hard to Believe)", "My Man, a Sweet Man" (US: #42, US R&B: #7), and "Ask Me What You Want"(US: #27) from that LP Recording.
Groovin, Baby...

I think that guy from "Life on Mars" TV Show ought to break this one out, the 1970's, baby!!

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

Give it about a minute or so, then it becomes a sizzlin', about 8 minute long Eddie Hazel guitar solo. Sweet, sweet, sweet.

Yes! That's the album!

A Couple other favorites of mine are:

-Rimsky-Korsakov Sheherazade (Charles Dutoit conducting)

-Beethoven Symphony # 2 (Leonard Bernstein cond)

-Beethoven Symphony # 7 (Leonard Bernstein cond)

-Brahms A German Requiem (Otto Klemperer cond)

-Strauss Also sprach Zarathustra (Karajan cond)

Sheherazade I highly, highly recommend alhtough I think Dutoit's version is out of print.

I'll look into that.
I'm not crazy about Beethoven's symphonies, of what I've heard, although I do like his piano works.

While playing COI last night, I put on a CD of Stravinsky's "Le Sacre du Printemps"(The Rite of Spring) with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Riccardo Muti. Great stuff for a COI battle!
