Those of us that know you(or at least think we do) are not suprised at all. I have seen such mistakes before.

I am open to the 2x2 if openings still exist.

THANKS for the vote of confidence Mister!

OK--Things are shaping up nicely.  Q-Ball and me versus Wolfpack and ???  I'll vouch for Wolfpack's strength as a player, I kicked his BUTTOCKS in a Stock Campaign for a long time.  Got into 1945 didn't we???

Doing a 2x2 is a lot of fun but it can be frustrating too due to having to pass the turn back-and-forth between partners before kicking it to the other side.  Once one gets started though it is fun to have running conversations between the players (via AAR perhaps) about set-up, tactics, and strategy.

Feb 45 as me being an overly cautious player. I worried too much about losses and yet have learned for the Allies to recover you must attrit the japanese until you strength comes into play. I assure you that I learn from mistakes and plan on making new ones this time around!

Well after reading some of the posts in this thread i feel like a total newb, even though i am not but I have never played Big bs mod and would definetly rather play as allied against 2 players that know the production system as well as you guys. If wolfpack doesn't mind i am willing to join the good side and punish the evil empire

We have our sides for a new 2x2!  Miller--Paul Layne and Michael Benoit are going to be the Allied Players.  Michael had jumped in with an email before I had a chance to see your note on the AAR.  I hope you don't mind.  Perhaps Wolfpack and NY GIants can include you!

We are going to come-up with an AAR title and then start respective AARs for people to read.  Thanks for the PMs and Emails from prospective players!

I've started to do some PM with Paul to determine who is doing what on the Allied side.

What HR are we going to have besides the standard ones??
No 4e bombers below 10k
PDU on
ASW TF size 6 ships
Sub evac = ok. Sub invasion = not ok.
Invasions only on base or dot hexes.
Allied player may only give orders to Allied warships (not AK/AP) already at sea on turn 1
What restrictions on CV TF size, if any??
What else??

PT boats should be kept to 6 per TF, and no mixing. Other than that I think you covered the basics.

The only category you didn't mention is if there are any HQ restrictions/movement restrictions around troops in China.

I have never used AB's map, and I am having some trouble installing it. May need a little help there. I pretty computer illiterate, I am sure it's operator error.

I took over a game as the Allies against Damian in 5/42 due to conflicts over his former Allied player sending Chinese troops into Vietnam without changing commands. Thus, IMO, the Allied player should do so in the future (and to Burma/India). It was also a Big B mod game and I was able to prevent a successful invasion of India. However, I did lose 3 American CVs in the South Pacific.

You and John should be like "two peas in a pod" over this.

Edit: Follow the map install directions from Andrew's website.

Well, if you guys are going to start - can I offer you a 1.5 version with an aircraft oversight or two cleaned up?
I discovered a couple of typos that have nagged me for a while, and I can email whomever is going to play an error cleaned up version?

B

EDIT if you guys decide to go ahead and want a new version, PM me and I will email 1.5 to you.

BRIAN! Damned nice to see you jump in! Hope you are doing well and feeling better. What are the changes you made to 1.5? I'm always up for an updated version.

Michael (NY GIANTS)---you have a lot of attitude regarding Q-Ball and I's lack of computer skills! We will form new ways of 'chastizing' you!

As to House Rules I like what is mentioned; however, I would like the additional strictures regarding turn 1:
1. There will be a very conservative opening Japanese set of attacks. I HATE landing everywhere on turn 1 and will not do it. Like to give you boys a chance to feel like you have at least an opportunity to create some form of defense.
2. Any Port attacks on Dec 7th can only be made by Japanese CV-Based air.
3. Brian runs a higher number of Political Points in his Mod so we have some flexiblity in moving units but to remove units from Manchuria--Korea, China , and India those troops (Allied/Japanese) must be paid for.

Let me review the notes within this AAR for things I hate about the system...

I like the idea of limiting the number of CV planes in any one sea hex. I've seen the number at 450 before. Would that work?

Other ideas/Comments???

1.  Incredible Victory:  the Japanese Perspective
2.  The First Team:  Japanese Perspective
3.  War Plan Orange:  JP
4.  Rainbow-5:  JP

Guys,
I have used the email addresses from John's latest PMs to us all to send out 2 PMs.
The first was potential House Rules. Please review and forward any changes.
The second was the newest version of the mod v1.5. I have installed my copy. Please let me know if you need help getting yours up and running.
Michael

I just wanted to share that I managed to install Brian's 1.5 Versions without ANY help!  Just doing that (for me) is a victory unto itself.

Let Dan know that I am up-and-running.  Asked him to resend the last turn we played which was the April 1, 1944 turn.  Should get at least one or two in tomorrow as I continue working on our 2x2 game.  Will start a new AAR with that.

Can we upgrade to the 1.5 an existing game?  If I Dan and I do that will it screw things up?

I'm not 100% sure, but I thought that all the scenario data was contained in the save file, and it only uses the scenario files when you initially create a new scenario game. So therefore, you should be alright using a different mod version on your game with Dan as long as the map and phex file are the same for both.

Looking forward to the 2X2 game and AAR ... good luck guys

Remember to fill out those air groups

Who is looking after production ? John let me know when you want me to give you some help if you need it with Tracker...

Hi John,

No - once a game is started you cannot change scenario data, so I'm afraid the option to update is an Official Matrix Only prerogative.

Only Matrix has the capability to change on-going game stats.

Damian--I want to install tracker.  Where is the download site and what do I do?  I WILL get it done today!

Brian--Thanks for letting me know the answer to that.  Will a 1.4 Mod (Dan and I's be impacted if I've upgraded the rest?

I'm opening the AAR right now and since I haven't gotten any feedback for a title, I will use the Heading of "The First Team."  Those books are some of the finest history I've read in quite a while.  We'll (hopefully) honor Lundstrom with this choice!

Dan just sent me the turn from late-November when we last got one in so we should be playing again in just a bit.

I have gotten everything taken care of with new computer and internet so Dan and I got going again last night.  We got two turns in today and so I will update the AAR after I get some sleep.  It is my intention for the next few weeks to try and play 2-3 turns a day and really get moving again.  It willbe depressing but let us see how far we can get prior to 2009!
