Japanese Ships
DD Nagatsuki
DD Yayoi
DD Fubuki
DD Ikazuchi
DD Yugure
DD Wakaba

Allied Ships
SS Greenling

We fail to locate the sub, Greenling was later attacked by a Val but missed...

Paul asked if I´m expecting his invasion of Timor soon as I´m building up here and he knows of KB of course. I´ve told him that I don´t expect an invasion anywhere as this would just result in another major Allied defeat!

Seriously, the area around Timor is important and I have to build up my defenses to be prepared for any Allied attempt. Nevertheless I´m of course also building up the all the atolls and islands in the Pacific as this is the shortest way to Japan. Timor is the shortest way into the SRA...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my BBs are accumulating sys damage pretty fast doing those bombardments and Bombay is only a level 6(6) so not really a place to overhaul the big boys. I´m moving in a nav HQ with a transport convoy to increase the port size to 8, it will arrive within a week...

deliberate attack in two turns. This base just has to fall, forts are at 3 I guess and even if this is a wooden hex, I seriously hope that the defender doesn´t get his av adjusted to 4000+ again...

Japanese forces CAPTURE Jamshedpur base !!!

we take the empty Jamshedpur, an important resource and HI center in India! Miller should have had troops here, he can´t defend the place but at least he would have had a big chance to destroy big parts of the resource or HI centers. That way we were able to take the place 100% undamaged!

Allied ground losses:
11 casualties reported

my troops are still working to increase the airfield of Malir, now at 2(1) 79% going up 10% each day. As soon as it will reach 3 we will fly in 100 medium bombers and a sentai of Oscars to fly ground attacks against Karachi. 3 means low bomb load but I hope to disrupt the defenders with those attacks. Range 1 hopefully results in not too many op losses every day. Unfortunately there are 4 inf units at Karachi, I guess we will mostly attack only one, which will probably be the understrenght Indian division with 200 assault points. There are also 3 Chindit bgds with around 150 av each...

I´m happy to see Miller flying Cap over China, that way I can kill some enemy fighters, even if thei´re obsolete ones. This time the full strike arrives over the target, the escort was reinforced with a Zero daitai and my figthers pretty much down the whole Cap or force them to turn around.

Allied radar seems to be a decisive weapon, as when I look at the ground losses, the Allied fighters already seem to be able to nearly launch 100% of their fighters on Cap while we are stuck somewhere around 50% for the whole war, no matter at what percentage we set the Cap. 3 of the fragile and damaged Oscars crashed on the way home...

This is the B A D news... A fully equipped Indian division teleported into Karachi today, increasing the defensive av by over 300 points and that´s a big problem. I have 4.000 assault points for the attack available but with forts and the urban bonus the 1045 Allied assault points can become 6000+ adjusted av pretty fast...

It´s far from sure that I will be able to crack that nut as there can be more and more units coming in via teleport...

Defending force 15792 troops, 199 guns, 109 vehicles, Assault Value = 220

a division and two AA rgt were moved into Calcutta and a div and some eng units moved into Diamond Harbour. This means DH is now cut off and we will attack the four units there in two turns, hoping to see them surrendering immediately. No chance of achieving something at Calcutta though, this is an urban hex also...

I wondered why there were always 12 units spotted here... now I know, Miller managed to evacuate fragments of the troops at Madras and they have been rebuilding at Calcutta it seems, the 2nd UK div is at 50+ assault points already, some art and a TK unit...

a blood bath! I have feared this attack to happen and therefor I´ve ordered a division to reinforce my troops at Kweiyang. Unfortunately the division is still on the road 30 miles South East of Kweiyang. Our leading two divs have 10% of their strenght disabled, but also the enemy was hit hard. I would have liked to see a far higher adjusted av as we´re fighting in a wooden hex. Still, this attack must have cost the Chinese a hell a lot of supplies I hope and their assault value is probably 1000 points lower now. We don´t have to achieve something here else than to hold our position and with another div this should be pretty surely doable. We have to concentrate on the North where we´ve got our offensives going against Yenen and Sian.

after the disastrous 1:1 attack yesterday the Chinese attack are already attacking again! They must be disrupted and probably not with enough supplies but they still cause quite some casualties within my units. But the attacker is again shredded and the Allied lost probably another 1000 assault points here. Mostly disabled though as we scored only 22 points for ground losses, so this attack must have accounted for around 15 points.

I guess my position here is now 100% secure, the reinforcement division should arrive in the next two days and my troops are well supplied.

Japanese Ships
APD APD-35
APD APD-38
APD APD-36
APD APD-33
APD APD-32
APD APD-31

Allied Ships
SS Trout, hits 14, on fire, heavy damage

Trout fired a full 6 torp salvo at APD-35 and hit the ship but the torps once again failed to detonate. In return the sub is pretty much shot up as APD-36 scores two hits and 12 near misses. The sub was still afloat at the end of the turn, I guess it will try to make Darwin, some 15 hexes away...

We´ve been pretty lucky here...

Lots of bombers at Chungking again. Wonder how the Chinese supply situation looks like, I would guess it must look desperate already, so those bomber strikes must make the situation even worse...

whereas the two totally shot up base forces at Karachi are still killers. 4 bombers lost... with all crews. Got over 200.000 troops at Karchi, but all crews die. Wonder how those subs can magically save so many pilots according to the myths on the forum. Doesn´t happen here... I see constantly 80%+ of the pilots lost for every ac lost, not the 25-45% LOL other people report.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Diamond Harbor

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 34593 troops, 268 guns, 17 vehicles, Assault Value = 766

A couple of days ago, the Chinese av was over 6.500, so the two attacks really cost Miller assault value here... and pretty sure a lot of supplies also!

25th and 26th Indian division are the major inf units defending Karachi and I´m happy to see them both being attacked. My A2G attacks will be the key I guess but we need to fly those attacks constantly, every day! Will cost us a lot, we lost 5 bombers again today, this time with A L L crews lost. I´m wrecking my high exp bomber sentais fast with those attacks but it´s a must. I will have to increase the attack alt to 21.000 ft again, but this will probably mean we won´t hit anything...

Ground combat at Diamond Harbor

Japanese ground losses:

Allied ground losses:
8353 casualties reported

after the unsuccesful deliberate attack yesterday, the shock attack crushed the defenses of Diamond Harbour! A HQ and three support units surrendered, the Allied suffered 205 points for ground losses today, now at 12335 and it´s not over yet!

Excellent news is that we captured 60.000 supplies and 100.000 fuel at Diamond Harbour! Hopefully the fuel will reach Bombay where our BBs are refulling, the 60.000 supplies are also very welcome. As it looks now, with the supply we produce in all the captured bases and with this big supply depot captured today, I guess there´s no need to ship in supply the next weeks.

Attacking force 23220 troops, 272 guns, 8 vehicles, Assault Value = 477

Defending force 15752 troops, 199 guns, 108 vehicles, Assault Value = 220

we will have to siege Calcutta with the division here. When our tanks and the other division in this area have cleared the rest of the bases East of Calcutta (where we will hopefull face only base forces), then I will order my Panzerkorps to move to Calcutta to clear the town. I hope this is possible with all the tanks. Then those troops will march North and join the assault on Karachi.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/19/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on 57th Heavy AA Battalion, at 29,23

Swordfish x 16

Allied aircraft losses
Swordfish: 5 destroyed, 6 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
20 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Aircraft Attacking:
5 x Swordfish bombing at 5000 feet

purpose for those attacks with Swordfish and Hurricane can only be to train the pilots as those attacks don´t really have much effect on my troops, but what I don´t understand then is why on earth are those Swordfish bombing at 5000ft and not 20.000ft? The fighter bombers are hardcoded to attack at 2.000 but not the torp bombers...

This turn really made me jumping up and down in front of my computer once again, the game "features" are just not suitable for PBEM... if you create a game for PBEM also then you should think about what you´re doing... thank god many total oversights are corrected with the AE.

for weeks Miller has flown ground attacks out of Calcutta with NO fighters on Cap at all. Miller is very careful and looks at all front line base every turn, this is something I´ve learnt so far. And he is also able to read the air balance numbers and he´s not a total stupid idiot, which you must be if you don´t be able to see the dark airfield symbols of the Japanese when they give orders you can already see in advance.

We move more ac into Mandalay (there was an airfield symbol beforce of course) and immediately Miller puts up his Cap as he can be 100% certain that we attack Calcutta as this is the only base full of enemy aircraft. Nice feature! Of course the other nice feature is the Allied radar which makes it possible to cramble three times more fighters on Cap as the Japanese are able to launch, but that´s not enough, this also enables the Allied fighters to bounce on and on and on and on and on without seeing this end.

All those things have been discussed on and on but it still makes me totally upset to see those stupid things.

well, no wonder I´m upset this turn! What the heck is this? A river crossing!!!!! I moved from Diamond Harbour into Calcutta and crossed a river... The only division that was attacking suffered all the casualties and is now 18% disabled... last turn it was 100% combat ready...

Just look at this Allied adjusted av, it got multiplied 8 times! I´ve ordered a deliberate attack at Karachi tomorrow, if it gets multiplied by 8 also then the enemy gets 8000 adjusted av there.

urban bonus...

we achieve a 2:1 but of course the Allied were able to build another fort level, as it has been level 1 just a few days ago. Just everything went wrong this turn! My divisions have ALL been wrecked in the meantime and I don´t care! At the moment I´m just like a three year old, those damn units will attack again as soon as they have recovered from disruption, they´re all over 70% disrupted! What was this????? A 0:1 attack??????

not surprisingly that we now see strike after strike. Miller is lucky enough to have ALL four bases ready to strike, not one was clouded in. We tried to hit Northern Australia with 200 bombers yesterday, didn´t happen due to bad weather. We could have torched 100+ bombers sitting on the ground... grmpf...

of course also Lautern gets a visit from Wyndham and Darwin... more fighters die on the ground... not even 50% of our fighters are in the air!!! Hey, just give me one of the mighty Allied radar sets, would like to see 100% of my fighters in the air all the time instead of waiting on the ground with a big white cross on them while screaming: Hit me! Hit me!

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 10000 feet

not much remaining to engage the enemy bombers. Miller launched 813 UNESCORTED bombers against Timor today... For every bomber shot down a2a we lose one fighter on the ground! This means we lose again, but I´m sure we will now see follow up attacks that will destroy the rest of my fighters on the ground. In the end we will lose 2 fighters or more for one bomber shot down a2a and this once again shows me that you are making a big mistake as the Japanese if you think you could do ANYTHING against Allied bombers in Nikmod!

There are two things to keep in mind in Nikmod for the Japanese: unescorted bombers are far more dangerous than your fighters, so don´t try to defend your bases if it isn´t a 100% must, for what reason ever. And don´t use your bombers against bases if there are more than two Allied base forces as other than your flak, the enemy flak is able to take down your bombers in high numbers as it´s probably 4-5 times more effective than the ancient crap you have. Only possibility would be to overstack your bases with flak but that´s not something I want to do.

Day Air attack on Manila , at 43,52

Ground combat at Dacca

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 24881 troops, 8 guns, 1606 vehicles, Assault Value = 914

Japanese assault odds: 180 to 1 (fort level 9)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Dacca base !!!

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
Hurricane IIb: 21 destroyed

Japanese ground losses:
102 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 7

Allied ground losses:
568 casualties reported
Guns lost 26
Vehicles lost 1

Dacca is captured with a shock attack, the Allied units run towards Chandpur! Miller obviously oversaw that he has ac at the base, 40+ Hurricanes are lost!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Karachi

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 197825 troops, 2298 guns, 213 vehicles, Assault Value = 4261

Defending force 56452 troops, 389 guns, 111 vehicles, Assault Value = 1056

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 8

Japanese max assault: 4083 - adjusted assault: 1050

Allied max defense: 1145 - adjusted defense: 12625

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 8)

Japanese ground losses:
6535 casualties reported
Guns lost 200
Vehicles lost 14

Allied ground losses:
757 casualties reported
Guns lost 7

so what comment should I make? Seeing an Allied adjusted av of over 12.000 is something that I can´t comment because I´m missing the apropriate words...

I´m thinking about just blocking this damned urban hex for the next two years! If I place three divisions there then the Allied are never able to break out. Keeping 4 BBs in the area to bombard the base for years is totally odd, but the same is the fact that units are teleporting in to Karachi, not to talk about the thousands of tons of supply that are popping up daily. It really looks like as if it would be 100% impossible to take this urban hex against 1000 enemy assault points.

For every bomber shot down, one fighter is lost on the ground, a hundred more will be lost the coming days. Two dozen bombers shot down by flak and a laughable number of 13 is lost to ops, flying at MAXIMUM range and the majority being DAMAGED!

Allied bombers in Nikmod are too endurable, but that´s something I´ve known already from playing the Allied in Nikmod a couple of times already.

The good news of the day: Tojo production moved one month and the fighter will now be available at 10/42. The bad news: it won´t really help me and 10/42 is also the date when the Lightning will arrive and it will eat the Tojo alive with it´s totally bad figther vs fighter abilities...

strike out of Wyndham at extended range for the Mitchell... like I´ve mentioned yesterday we have no lost more fighters on the ground than the enemy lost bombers in the air... we damaged 600+ bombers and shot down 150 yesterday and today nearly 300 show up over my bases again.

Their loss rate is ridicoulosly low again, those bomber crews must now have a fatigue of 40+ but hey, why should that result in op losses? Op loss? What´s an op loss?

my Oscar pools are nearly empty now...

Those must be the RAF bombers from India, I haven´t spotted a single bomber there for weeks. Playing Nikmod you can get mad when looking at Japanese bombers flying at 16.000ft against two wrecked base forces at 1 hex range and overfatigued Allied bombers flying at 10.000ft against several base forces at 8 hexes range... Nik has definetely something wrong here and I´m not saying Japanese bombers or Japanese flak should be as good as Allied but Allied bombers and flak surely were not 10 times better. Just look at this fu**ing result! Even the Oscars crash from flying one hex. All pilots dead! This is just a joke... I´m losing twice the number of bombers than in stock...

And the Allied bombers are immune to fighters, immune to flak, immune to fatigue... Fyling 300 bombers 16 hexes day after day against heavy flak defense at 10.000ft results in fewer losses than flying 100 Japanese fighters unfatigued from one base to the base three hexes away. And that´s not a joke, I´m serious...

hi chris,

it seems realy, that nikmod isnt very realistic after all. the air combat results and the huge difference between the OP loses of both sides are totaly crazy.

200 japanese fighters were very well able to cause heavy damage into allied 2E bombers. but in nikmod, the B-25 seem to be like B-29 and i can imagnie what will happen to the japanese, when the allied get more B-17, B-24 and even B-29! this must be like star destroyers then.

glad that i play the good old stocks and CHS (soon).

Hi!

I was well aware of how the Allied bombers look like in Nikmod from previous games as Allied and Japanese. I wouldn´t want to touch stock again it was well too blody. The "over-endurance" of Allied bombers in Nikmod is more or less the only problem with the mod, but I prefer this than to see 200 Oscars taking down 100 Mitchells in one raid.

But it also means that I can´t even hold bases that are in Allied unescorted bomber range.

After losing quite some bombers yesterday, Miller slightly increased his bombing alt. Doesn´t make much difference in his hit rate (if it makes any difference), but again he lost 11 bombers today and I do like that. I guess it´s not the flak that is causing him trouble but more his fatigue that must be well around 40 from flying day after day at extended range. I think I figured out why all my flak guns at Koepang and Lautern aren´t causing him as much trouble as I´ve thought: all my base forces have high disruption, 60+ and while I know that disrupted ground troops have their assault value lowered by their disruption as a percentage, I didn´t think that the programmers thought about decreasing the flak fire due to disruption. This would really surprise me (positively) and when I look at the flak fire that is put up over Timor this really could be the case.

what doesn´t surprise me is the fact that 100% damage isn´t the max a base can get... Both runways are 100% damaged so they must have more than 100% damage after the attack as at the end of the turn, the eng at the bases start repairs. So.... I´ve got 300+ eng at both bases and at the start of next turn, one shows still 100% runway damage (the runway is always the first thing that is repaired) which means that it was 100%+ damaged and the eng couldn´t even get it to 99%...

Hi Castor - I follow your AAR quite a bit as this is a NikMod game and I am in one as well.

You are correct on the flak, I have noticed that after a big raid, and I am guessing I am facing about 1,500 4EB bombers available to the Allies in my NikMod game versus Bill (Spruance) the flak guns are pretty much disrupted.  In lots of cases, many of them are disabled if the strike hit the airfield.

So, you have a double whammy - your damaged fighters appear to land before the bombers drop their bombs (yes, on the rare occasions I have had full CAP I still have lost planes on the ground...) so they can be destroyed there and your flak is disrupted against follow on raids.  Additionally, by watching carefully it appears to me that the group number order factors in as well - later numbered bombing groups tend to not get as much flak damage; I believe this is because the flak is disrupted by the lower database number bombing groups.

The same thing is probably happening to your engineers as the raids tend to hit support troops and that is what they are classed as - I see most of my construction bns and base forces carrying high fatigue & disruption following 2 days of 300+ bomber raids and thus the repair rate is very slow.

There's not much you can do about it, and bringing in lots of planes to an airfield just makes the airfield symbol go dark red and invites an attack before you can react do to turn entry order.  I have tried LR CAP from multiple locations over a base, but, I have found the Ops losses to the Japanese fighters to be higher than the bombers shot down and I'd rather just lose the planes on the ground and save the pilots than lose them to crashes.

Hi!

I can only agree. I don´t have much disabled guns at my bases but disruption at least halves the flak effects at the moment. LRCAP isn´t an option at all, as you say, the op losses aren´t worth the non existing effect on the enemy bombers.

I´m not facing that many 4Es yet as we´re still in an early stage of the war but I know how it will look like. It´s severe enough to face hundreds of 2Es in a raid, but the 200+ 4E raids will kill everything in the range of 13 (B-17) or 14 (B-24) hexes and with strong opposition you can take down perhaps 20 of them, for the loss of 100 fighters on the ground. If you don´t lose that many on the first day, you lose them with the next raid at the latest as they are then sitting damaged on the ground.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/27/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASW attack near Kendari at 33,71

Japanese Ships
AK Sansei Maru
MSW Wa 6
MSW Wa 3

Allied Ships
SS Albacore

Albacore moved to Kendari and it´s funny that this low quality escort attacked the sub as I also have 3 DD/APD TFs in the hex which unfortunately did nothing...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 6
B-25C Mitchell x 14
B-17E Fortress x 40
LB-30 Liberator x 9

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 3 destroyed
B-25C Mitchell: 3 damaged
B-17E Fortress: 13 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 5 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
42 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Airbase hits 4
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 27

Aircraft Attacking:
6 x B-17E Fortress bombing at 15000 feet
8 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 15000 feet

Miller is moving two big TFs along the coast of Northern Australia so he wants to keep my bases closed. Walrus and Seagulls have spotted one of my subs in this area so this means there are cruisers also. Is this an invasion already???

I mentioned in my email that Timor isn´t a nice place to be at the moment and Miller told me he has to keep my bases surpressed to bring supply to Northern Australia. I´ve got the feeling it´s not just a supply convoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77

Allied aircraft
Blenheim IV x 35
Wellington III x 29
Hudson I x 14

Allied aircraft losses
Blenheim IV: 10 damaged
Wellington III: 2 destroyed, 10 damaged
Hudson I: 1 destroyed

Japanese ground losses:
15 casualties reported

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 32

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Wellington III bombing at 15000 feet
3 x Blenheim IV bombing at 15000 feet
4 x Hudson I bombing at 15000 feet

the hit rates are enough to keep my bases 100% damaged...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Lautem , at 33,78

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 3
B-25C Mitchell x 31
B-26B Marauder x 29

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 3 damaged
B-25C Mitchell: 13 damaged
B-26B Marauder: 5 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
62 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 3
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 23

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 15000 feet
20 x B-26B Marauder bombing at 15000 feet

even thouh flak fire wasn´t really severe today, the enemy still lost a lot of ac today! I´m absolutely satisfied with this kill rate. That way the enemy loses over 100 ac in a week for no losses on my side. It takes 250 fighters on a base to kill 50 bombers in one day with 100+ fighters lost so it seems we´re doing better when NOT trying to defend our bases. Although 7 of the ac losses over Timor were Catalinas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Lautem , at 33,78

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 2
B-25C Mitchell x 51

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 1 damaged
B-25C Mitchell: 1 destroyed, 14 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
76 casualties reported

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 27

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 15000 feet

and the last raid today... the strikes became smaller and smaller, I´m sure the Allied squadrons have the majority of their bombers damaged and the crew´s morale surely doesn´t look good. The question now is if we´re really facing an upcoming invasion of Timor. If not, then I´m not sure if it is really worth all those losses just to keep my Timor bases surpressed to move in a supply convoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on 116th Division, at 41,35

Aircraft Attacking:

If it does come down to an invasion, what do you have to counter at Timor?

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/28/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naval bombardment of Karachi, at 21,3

Allied aircraft
no flights

Japanese Ships
BB Mutsu
BB Nagato

Allied ground losses:
5388 casualties reported
Guns lost 21
Vehicles lost 6

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 26

Miller obviously tried to ambush our BBs with his Swordfish but they didn´t attack yesterday (or he moved them in "today") and we torch a lot of ac on the ground with another nuke. Those base forces suffered ten thousands of casualties already but are still putting up a hell of a flak fire if we go in lower than 21.000ft...

Ki-49 Helen: 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Buffalo I: 6 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
14 casualties reported

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 21000 feet

the airfield isn´t completely knocked out and we engage some Buffaloes over Karachi but they weren´t that much of a threat. As long as the enemy holds Delhi (we will never take the urban hex with 600+ assault points) he can move in aircraft from the South to Karchi as he did this time...

Attacking force 15893 troops, 200 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3334

Defending force 211657 troops, 649 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 4653

INVASION!!!!

Look at this! There´s no doubt that Lautern will be invaded next or in two turns. I´ve got 300+ assault points at Lautern but 200 of those assault points is from base forces and as Miller used the diddly diddly du trick of using dozens of float planes to recon Lautern this turn I´m 100% sure he will set off half a dozen nuke bombardments next turn and my base forces will be 100% destroyed as they have been on Midway and on Canton... it´s wonderful... when I look at how many different TFs he has here then I have to think about my invasion of India when I put 250.000 troops in three TFs... we will see, I´m sure we won´t see any CD fire at all, as the nukes... well, you know...

Here you can see the losses for the float planes, but as you get as many nukes as you wish the turn after it will be worth it...

the losses from the nukes only decreased as there is from nuke to nuke fewer left to destroy. My support troops are 100% disabled/destroyed, just like at Midway, just like at Canton. This is the third invasion of Miller and the third time he does the trick with the float plane to be 100% sure to 100% destroy ALL my support troops and CD guns. I´m sure this will be the same for the rest of the war.

Ha! Another Allied fanboy should tell me that only the IJN is able to do nukes in the game.

The enemy airfield shows 94% damage but this is wrong intel it seems and the enemy achieves a wonderful hitrate with his low exp bombers. I´m quite pissed of as you can imagine. This is my first major loss and what really pisses me off is the fact that I was just dumb enough to send the BBs in again instead of bombing the airfield to be sure the Swordfish are destroyed.

Everything went wrong this turn...

Miller landed parts of the 2nd USMC and parts of an Australian division. Nothing else ashore so far but I´m sure there´s more to come next turn. As it looks like, he uses one TF for each unit that he lands. We had not a single airstrike today, I hope to see one next turn. We spotted Hornet sitting four hexes South West of Lautern, I´m sure all available Allied carriers are nearby. We have only some 100 assault points from inf units, the rest is from the wrecked base forces which aren´t existing anymore. I have no doubt that Miller will take the base. This means from now on it will get an interesting game as we now have real war going on!

IMO Miller attacked a tad too early. Even if my defenses in this area don´t look how they should, he has no P38 yet, he has no Corsairs and of course he has no Hellcats. But he also is short by 3 US carriers at the moment. If he doesn´t get Lautern operational soon and keeps it operational then he´s in trouble. I´m already thinking about giving up the assault on Karachi and just keep the base sieged forever and move out 3000 assault points after securing the rest of India (except Karachi and Delhi) and throw it against the Allied invasion. We will see...

BB Hyuga sunk after an attack by obsolete British torpedo bombers. After the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck in which the Swordfish played an important role, the biplanes now sink the Japanese battleship Hyuga as the admiral in command underestimated the threat of the outdated aircraft.
