radar equiped TFs in a base do increase the CAP effectivity of the base fighter defence? now that would be a good news. and good luck for your "fighter trap".

beside that, when do japanese base forces recive air radar equipment? i know that the IJn was behind the allied and the germans in radar technology, but they got their first big static radar devices before they yould be installed on warships.

I had nearly all my fighters at Kendari in the air due to KB being in the hex and normally I have my Yugumos with KB so it did help. I´m not sure the game differentiates about land based or naval based radar.

There won´t be any land based radar until 1/44 and then I get 30 a month so it will take until mid 44 to see my baseforces being equipped with radar sets. Until then, the usual loss rate of my fighters will be 50% on the ground due to not taking off when the bombers are coming in.

Congrats for the new (and soon-to-be) successes in China and India.

Mid-44 for the radars, that's late.  I suppose there's nothing you can do to accelerate this or the rate of production (armament industries ?)...

Castor, your AAR is becoming quite large, I'm losing the count of the sunk ships (and reading several AARs doesn't help).  Could you make a recap of the major losses, or better yet keep a small list in the first post ?

Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 59
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 146

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 6
B-25C Mitchell x 293

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 20 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 76 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 6 damaged
B-25C Mitchell: 67 destroyed, 159 damaged

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 16000 feet

Isn´t Paul predictable? As we knew before, the airfield symbol would immediately attract an Allied bomber attack and here we go. I have to say though that the number of Mitchells pretty much scared me, nearly 300 are coming from Derby, going in at max range to meet 205 angry fighters on Cap. Looks like my DDs helped, out of 286 undamaged fighters at the base we see 205 in the air when the strike goes in which is 71,68% and that is far more than I see usually. I would guess the average in this game (and all my other games) is somewhere around 50-55% in the air.

The Allied bomber crews had a very high morale and that was quite surprising as they were attacking this base every couple of days again and took a dozen losses every time doing this. But the numbers of fighters were sufficient and a laughable number of 4 bombers made it to the base where 1 was shot down by flak immediately, left 3 bombers to drop their load from 16.000ft but the bombs landed 3 miles off the runway! BANZAI!

What was more than amazing to me was the fact that the Tojo proved to be really worth it as the new fighter seems to be able to more or less deal with the Allied 2E bombers while the Oscar was/is pretty much useless against everything than fighters. Most of the IJA fighter sentais will be upgraded to the Tojo for defensive tasks. While the Tojo has the same gun value as the Zero in Nikmod, it still is better than the Zero as the Tojo has a "true" gun value of 8 as it mounts 4x12,7mm MGs which have a penetration value of 2 and a gun value of 2 for each gun. The Zero has 2x7,7mm MGs and 2x20mm cannons but the MGs only have a penetration value of 1 and a gun value of 1 while the cannon have 3 pen and 3 gun value. The problem is that nearly everything the Allied put into the air has an armor value of 2 so the 7,7mm MGs are USELESS! And this brings the Zero to a gun value of 6 (for the cannons only).

When this strike was over I saw a lot of damaged fighters and I thought that Miller would launch his British bombers from Wyndham and the dreaded US 4Es from Darwin against Koepang. Well, he didn´t!!!!

So I have to say that this was a total Japanese victory today. Of course this won´t have any impact on the war but for now I guess Miller will become more carefully. Even if the Allied 2E bomber replacements are nearly unlimited, he lost more than a monthly replacement of Mitchells and did NO damage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Dili , at 31,77

Japanese aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 141

Japanese aircraft losses

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 18 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 9 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
666 casualties reported
Guns lost 10

Airbase hits 16
Airbase supply hits 17
Runway hits 96

Aircraft Attacking:
20 x B-17E Fortress bombing at 12000 feet

Now this was more than surprising, instead of sending all his bombers against Koepang, he only sent the 300 Mitchells from Derby, probably thinking that those bombers would be sufficient to destroy the base and lots of fighters on the ground. I was amazed to see such a high hit rate from the 4Es though as they´re attacking a level 1 airfield only. The af won´t be built up and is only at 50/50 damage at the end of the turn. Will be repaired in no time and forts can then be further built up (only level 0 - 91% at the moment and the Marines are coming).

I guess I don´t have to comment how it makes me feel to see 250 4Es here. Soon all my bases in this area will lay in waste...

I have decided to attack Delhi, all my TK rgts that succesfully took part in the assault on Calcutta were already ordered to move to this base and I´m confident to destroy this stronghold. I can´t remember how the Allied assault value looked like a couple of weeks/months but somehow I´ve got the feeling that Miller might fly troops out of this base. Who knows...

thx, a small victory but Miller surely wasn´t pleased I guess. I fear that if all the British and the 4E bombers would have targeted Koepang also the overall result would have looked different though.

I ramped up production as fast as possible and we are now producing 304 Tojos a month. Normally I´m not a fan of producing tenthousands of ac but when I look at the ac numbers I´ve produced in 42 then I´m still a couple of thousand aircraft BEHIND of what was built in real life. Of course I´m building only types I really need and many ac of real life have no value in WITP at all. But IMO, no matter what ac I build, as long as I´m building fewer or the same number of ac than in real life I hope noone can blame me then.

I won´t increase Tojo production anymore though and the next step in Japanese fighter production will be the Tony that will come online in 9/43 . I´m planning to also produce 300-400 a month (until the Frank in mid 44) and I hope to get it at least two months earlier, starting in 7/44. Great would be 6/43 but this would still mean that the Corsair comes into play four months earlier in 2/43. I´ve got high hopes on the Tony in Nikmod as it´s far better than the Tojo in this mod. Only 5 mph slower but far more maneuverable, armor 2 and a gun value of 10!!! 10 is like AA missiles when speaking of Japanese aircraft arms.

Are your A/C production numbers counting trainers? There were an awful lot of trainers produced.

Nice results from that air combat. I'm placing all my bets on the Tony, hopefully the slight delay between the two aircrafts introductions is insignificant. I believe in CHS things are slightly different, but the Tony is nevertheless better, and I believe there is a 1 month time difference between it and the tojo.

Plus, you get some interesting aircraft like the ki-83, G5N (if you really want it), and the M6A float-torpedo bomber---Just thinking up ways to launch an I-400 a/c sub strike on US CV group :) None are really war winning, but do provide some interesting options.

the numbers I´ve posted a couple of pages back are for total aircraft produced per year duing the war so I guess this mean all of them.

Unfortunately for me, the Tony in Nikmod is still a long way to go and when it will be available I will probably be in trouble already.

Allied Ships
AP Arthur Middleton
SC SC-519
SC SC-637
SC SC-640
SC SC-641
SC SC-648

what a pity, 6 torps missed the medium sized AP. I guess the ship is full of troops heading for Australia but I´m not sure as I had no sighting during the day. This is some 900 hexes South East of Pago Pago.

looks like Miller is standing down his fighters now and he perhaps only forgot about this bomber squadron. Guess flakfire is too heavy to make his training runs worth it...

it´s amazing that those British bombers hit nothing at Dili, the US 4Es achieved 100+ hits at this tiny airfield. A Wellington carries more bombs than a B-17... The biggest threat for us in the next years are the B-24s...

Japanese Ships
SS RO-63

Allied Ships
ML Krakatau, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

like I´ve mentioned before, I was never a real fan of those RO-class boats but in this game I make good use of them as they can operate near their home port and this way they´re quite useful and have done a good job so far. This was a very important hit, I´m sure the ML was sunk as we didn´t spot it during the day. No confirmed sinking though. Now I know why my last surface combat TF hit a VH2 at Lautern. Must mean that there´s a MLE at Darwin as we sighted this ML coming from Darwin, it was reported as a lone AK though.

Paul wasn´t really pleased about the massacre of his 300 Mitchell attack on Koepang yesterday and told me he would stop this unescorted 2E raids now. He said it was a fault not to keep Koepang´s airfield inoperational as his 2E bombers are made out of paper while his 4Es are indestructable. Allied 2Es made out of paper?

I guess this defensive success over Koepang has bought us a couple of weeks, I expect him to start flying those attacks again when he has Lightnings available, which shouldn´t take that long anymore. I hopefully will be able to kill a good number of P-38s as this would then slow down his offensive operations again. From 2/43 on, nothing will stop his air offensives and all I can do then is perhaps temporarily point defense with mass fighter concentrations to cover a convoy or so but the P-47, P-38 for long range and the F4U for short range will make the defense against Allied bomber raids impossible.

Now this statement really concerned me:

I see you have a radar equiped destroyer at Koepang........it would account for the high CAP, perhaps my 4E should pay a naval attack visit?

hmm... Miller has spotted my DD TF at Koepang but when looking at the previous op reports I haven´t found a message that he did get one of my DDs identified so I wonder how he comes up with this idea. Of course he´s 100% right on the spot with his statement, I just wonder how he figures that one out, even if he gets a message DDxy spotted at Koepang, then he has to realize immediately that this is a Yugumo class DD and he has to know that the Yugumos have radar at this date. And what about the three other DDs in the TF? Why should all four be Yugumos? And why not just an escort TF for my AKs unloading there? Hmm... really strange...

A sighting by a patrol plane maybe ?  He only mentions one DD, not 4, he probably doesn't know for the others.  Maybe you should leave one there and ostensibly move the other elsewhere...

unfortunately the effects of radar increase with the number of radar sets in a hex. That´s why Allied air supremacy gets higher and higher as soon as you have nearly the whole map covered with multiple radar sets. So keeping only one DD at Koepang won´t help me a lot I guess. I will keep the DDs and the fighters at Koepang as long as it takes to bring in a good amount of supplies and move them out again anyway.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 10/17/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Delhi

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 22412 troops, 254 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 483

Defending force 25294 troops, 92 guns, 4 vehicles, Assault Value = 340

Allied ground losses:
11 casualties reported

Dehli´s assault value dropped by 32 points in one day! Troop strenght only reduced by 500 though, so does this mean the Allied are starving here already? I doubt that airlifting out 500 troops would decrease the av by 32 points.

Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 14277 troops, 459 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2878

I´m sure the ordered shock attack tomorrow will take the base. Miller is sure about this too as he moved out all his aircraft!

after our recent victory over Koepang it seems to be getting more quiet again...

Not a single air strike from any one side ?

well, I´m only speaking about my "experience" and what I´ve seen in a couple of thousand turns. Enough radar, you most always get the bounce forever and most always have a very high Cap in the air.

I only have a few hundred turns under my belt, so I trust you're right.  I'll pay more attention to the radar sets in my BF next time.

now this is interesting! Yesterday the first Allied unit entered Dili and the bombardment today showed it being a USMC division! This could be a chance to dislodge this unit and this would also mean that Miller´s land assault on Dili could get stuck! I´m amazed a single unit alone entered my hex. Unfortunately my supply situation isn´t good (even though I was bringing in thousands of tons of supply already) and the wooden hex will help the USMC division when I will attack. The unit is two hexes away from Lautern, so I also wonder how well it will be supplied...

I´m thinking about ordering a shock attack tomorrow! I guess Miller will be surprised when he sees nearly 1200 assault points defending Dili...

whereas it does show a very good effect to send 250 Allied fighters on LRCAP at 2 hexes distance. My 80+ pilots once again get mauled, the Allied still can´t be much higher than 60 at best. Doesn´t help, our fighters get shredded and this time also the bombers. Ground attacks usually don´t fly, or the weather is bad or whatever. Today, when Miller has 100+ fighters on Cap over his USMC division my ground attack took off... what a lucky bastard I am. I have ordered my troops to SHOCK attack tomorrow but I don´t expect anything to be honest. The single USMC division will probably shred my troops to pieces but we will see. I just have to take the chance of forcing out this unit. The naval bombardment and the a2g attack should at least have caused 50+ disruption... hopefully... this was definetely the bad part of this turn...

once again I have to remind myself that the only thing I should attack are enemy TFs... losses are worth it if you sink ships, they aren´t if you only take down some Allied fighters that get unlimited replacements of both aircraft and pilots...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Dili , at 31,77

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 33

Allied aircraft
F-5A Lightning x 1

No Allied losses

Ground combat at Delhi

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 22351 troops, 254 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 483

Defending force 24224 troops, 91 guns, 4 vehicles, Assault Value = 260

again the Allied av drops by 40 points in one day... what´s going on? I guess there won´t be much of the Allied garrison left when my tanks will arrive...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Kungchang

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 197006 troops, 1669 guns, 652 vehicles, Assault Value = 3954

Defending force 44129 troops, 205 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1261

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 3

Japanese max assault: 3904 - adjusted assault: 4146

Allied max defense: 1311 - adjusted defense: 528

Japanese assault odds: 7 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Kungchang base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
3241 casualties reported
Guns lost 72
Vehicles lost 8

Allied ground losses:
70657 casualties reported
Guns lost 314

and that´s the good part of this turn which also has much more strategic and long term impact than the loss of the 50 ac today. Kungchang fell much more easily than I have thought, I guess the enemy ran out of supplies. All enemy troops here had to surrender and a whole Chinese Army marches in my POW camps. We´ve scored 326 points for Allied ground losses today, now being at 14.599!! I´m sure we will reach the 15.000 points soon! Half of my total victory points have been scored for Allied units being destroyed. Next target in China is Sian now, I´m sure there´s also not much supply left but 100.000 troops are defending the base behind Maginot line forts. When the Army from Kungchang arrives at Homan then I will start my assault on Sian. I have to kill off also three enemy units on the road North of Sian.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 14258 troops, 457 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2875

Defending force 99246 troops, 304 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3270

Allied ground losses:
94 casualties reported

enemy troop strenght and assautl value is declining daily, this is a good sign...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Chungking

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 15864 troops, 183 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1529

Defending force 223452 troops, 1609 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 4179

I´m thinking about moving another division into Chungking, just to make sure we´re secure, even though our assault value should be adjusted to something like 8.000+ in the urban hex. But the daily Allied air attacks on 3 of my divisions here is making me some concerns...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Myitkyina

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 8368 troops, 287 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1529

Defending force 31881 troops, 224 guns, 236 vehicles, Assault Value = 533

Allied ground losses:
304 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 2

when I don´t need my tanks in India anymore I will move them back to Burma to clear out Myitkina once and for all. As it seems now, Miller is not moving out all his units to China...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Dili

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 665 troops, 3 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1232

Defending force 12801 troops, 132 guns, 13 vehicles, Assault Value = 411

hopefully the damned USMC division will be forced to retreat. Supply is a big issue for us, hopefully also for the Marines that have to be supplied over 120 miles of trails. When we and the enemy are only at 50% supply and the enemy is 50% disrupted due to the attacks today then the 2x bonus for the wooden hex should NOT be enough to withstand the attack of 1000 assault points... hopefully, in any case it will be a narrow situation tomorrow...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Kweiyang

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 16052 troops, 202 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3443

Defending force 222367 troops, 830 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5727

I have ordered strikes from three bases on Chungking but of course two were clouded and exactly the weakest strike from 7 hexes goes in. The sweep from 5 hexes and the first bigger bomber attack from 6 hexes failed to take off. Needless to say that the Allied got the bounce for 100% of the duration of the engagement and because I´m not counting the obsolete Chinese fighters, the British achieved a kill rate 2:1 in their favour...

looks like Miller became angry, he has replaced his Mitchells at Derby with 4Es to torch my fighters at Koepang. 200 unescorted flying pillboxes encounter 130 fighters over Koepang and it seems the Allied bomber crew´s morale wasn´t that god as the majority turns back. 31 bomber drop their load over the base which is enough to destroy 9 Tojos on the ground.

But in return we take down 34 Allied 4Es.

After the defeat over Dili yesterday we are flying massive attacks to destroy the enemy fighter force above our base. Unfortunately we start off bad of course, 60% of our strike fails to locate the base and only parts of two Tojo sentais show up to engage a big Cap. The Tojo proves to be a poor offensive weapon and dogfighter and we lose more fighters than the enemy. The Tojo pilots are in the mid 80 as I used my best available. This strike came from Koepang (5 hexes), with the bombing raid on their base this could have been a big mistake as I missed those fighters for Cap duty...

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 8 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 9 destroyed

P-40E Warhawk: 19 destroyed

Then a big strike of Oscars comes in from Maumere, 6 hexes. The Oscar proves to be the far better dogfighter as it´s an agile aircraft while being far slower than the Tojo. The enemy fighter defenses were already disrupted and the incoming IJA fighters tored through the defending fighter formations. The ground troops defending Dili saw it raining Allied fighter wrecks. One of my sentais was hit hard though but this was a decisive blow for the Allied defenses, when...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

... the third ordered strike showed up over the base...

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 10 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 2 destroyed

Now being complete shot up already and totally disrupted, the Allied fighters had no chance and the cannon armed Zeroes took down one fighter after another! In the end it was a massive victory over the Allied fighter defenses at Dili. BANZAI! The enemy lost 134 fighters over Dili today...

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Wellington III bombing at 10000 feet

in the afternoon, the British also launched an airfield attack and our Cap was totally shrinked with not even 60 fighters in the air. But the British crews are also low on morale and most bombers turned back. 4 Wellington made it to the base but all missed the target. The Wellington is really tough, it seemed to be impossible to take them down. I don´t consider the obsolete Blenheim a threat! If I were the Allied commander I wouldn´t use them for offensive missions in this theater.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here are the total losses for today:

In the end it was only a 3:1 in total aircraft lost today, the attack on Chungking hurt us more than expected. What of course also hurts is the fact that we lost some 50 pilots today, a couple of daitais were totally shredded and were withdrawn to be rebuilt and retrained. I hope this day, especially the fights over Dili and Koepang are hurting Miller´s morale and hopefully he refrains for ongoing air attacks in this area now. Today was an all out effort again, nearly all the IJAAF fighter forces are based in the triangle of Timor, Kendari and Amboina.

GOD DAMN!!! Why on Earth does my opponent have the luck that exactly today, another USMC division entered Dili? Oh my... I could have lived with the fact to get a 0:1 but at what casualty ratio? What kind of joke... There are two USMC divisions 120 miles away from their supply base and they still seem to get 100% supplied over two hexes of trails... god damn again! I have lost 500!!!!!!!!!!!!! assault points in this attack! Stupid joke! With this attack, I have lost Dili... against an opponent that marches his troops into my base... Why am I even surprised that our assault value got halved and the Allied av got doubled... I´m sure the Allied will attack at full av when he starts his attacks...

I can´t believe it...

The happy months are over, I guess we are lucky when there are days when we have good and bad results and not just bad ones. This was another day with lots of bad but also a good one...

wth? Out of 250+ undamaged fighters set to 80% Cap we see the amazing number of 88 in the air, not even 35%!!!! Looks like I´m fooling myself when thinking my radar equipped ships would help. What a joke. After the initial bounce phase for us, when we achieved something like a 20:1 kill rate, the bounce went to the Allied which then achieved nearly a 1:1. Again, the Tojo is a poor dogfighter. The escorts kept our fighters off the bombers of which we only took one down and then those bombers achieve quite a good hit rate on my fast, radar equipped DDs... what a crappy day...

Two days ago we took down 150 Allied fighters over Lautern and today 231 were on escort again...

Japanese Ships
DD Kazegumo, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
DD Makinami, on fire
DD Takanami, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
DD Makigumo, on fire

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x LB-30 Liberator bombing at 10000 feet

then of course more bomber attack my DDs, achieving more hits. As it looks now, one DD is lost, the other three could make it, if not attacked again... my Cap seems to be not existing anymore...

total losses of today:

doesn´t look that bad but again I have to wonder when people are saying they save more than 50% of their pilots being shot down over their bases. Out of the 24 fighters shot down over Koepang, 21 pilots were lost! So how can that be and what am I doing wrong then? One pilot bailed out wounded and was rescued so it would make "only" 20 pilots lost if this one comes back again...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 12,85

Japanese Ships
SS I-19

Allied Ships
CA Exeter, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

this is the good news of the day, the unescorted Exeter is attacked by I-19 West of Broome and two out of six torps slammed into the already heavily damaged heavy cruiser. I hope this will be enough to sink the ship...

my ships at Koepang are attacked again, again the fighters on Cap are a wet joke, we´re below 40% again, this time I´ve set them to 90%!!! The Kittyhawks had no chance but hey, the Warhawks got the bounce and achieved a kill ratio in their favour... We´re not getting our fighters airborne and we´re not even getting the bounce above our own base, even when our fighters are set to 15.000ft and the Allied escorts are flying at 8.000ft. Well working design...

slightly more fighters on Cap in the afternoon, the rate still keeps being a joke... an airfield attack could destroy 150+ undamaged fighters on the ground... I could just

total losses of today:

the last days have clearly showed what I knew the first day when Miller landed troops at Lautern, it will be impossible to do anything in this region as soon as he begins flying attacks out of his level 6 airfield of Lautern. Even though I take down more aircraft than I lose, I also lose precious pilots and I now I also have started losing ships. Soon the Allied Army will have marched to Dili, coming over 120 miles of trails and being very well supplied it seems. Then Dili will fall soon and with another level 5 airfield on Timor, there will then be 550 Allied aircraft on Timor that will lay waste up to an area around Java and South of Borneo! The fact that my fighters don´t get airborne will be the biggest issue and will make defense impossible.

I just don´t get this game and it´s routines... the last 4 weeks there were NEVER more than a couple dozen fighters on Cap over Chungking. Well, today saw probably 95% of the fighters on Cap in the air. Of course we were once again hit by the weather flaws of "advanced weather on". Again three bases should have attacked, again two were clouded including the sweep base of course. Weather forecast was good, we end up with thunderstorms that make flying impossible.

And hey, I don´t want to forget to mention that the Allied got 100% of the engagemen the allmighty B O U N C E... Allied radar...

hopefully those Chinese units surrender soon... I proved to be a stupid dork once again when I try to attack an Allied base today. No matter where it is on the map, the outcome at this stage of the war is a mess for us and I should just accept that attacking Allied bases that are defended by flak and fighters is just not worth it and should only be done if absolutely necessary and then only in force. Of course the weather can make using force impossible as seen today when two of three bases were clouded in...

how is this decrease in assault value possible? This can´t be from starving only, the Rangoon CD unit that is here also dropped to 0 av this turn. There must be Allied transports doing an evacuation. Doesn´t matter, my tanks have arrived and will attack in two days to kill off the remaining units.

in a couple of weeks the assault on Sian will begin. I expect the base to fall after 5 or 6 deliberate attacks at best. I expect the enemy will lose 100.000 troops destroyed and we will lose 5.000 dead and 25.000 disabled.

a nice statement of Paul:

Well you have certainly stalled my advance in Timor......I had hoped to have the whole Island taken by now.

This gives a little hope but doesn´t change the overall situation, the invasion of Timor is putting us in a desperate situation already.

Sub attack near Lautem at 33,78

Japanese Ships
SS I-155

Allied Ships
AK Don Jose, Torpedo hits 1, on fire

a single big AK probably brings supply to Lautern and I-155 only scores one hit out of six torps fired. Means the ship will probably make it, but even worse, there will surely arrive 3.000+ supplies at Lautern.

The Allied are attacking Timor with 210 bombers or more daily and they lose 4 bombers today, flying at max range against a flak defended target. Their fat must be somewhere around 40. We fly 2 hexes against an undefended target with fatigue 2 and also lose 3 bombers. Is there something strange?

looks like the defender of this urban hex has no chance against our tanks. One of the phenomena of WITP, tanks work best in urban warfare... Seeing those results I regret not having attacked Karachi with tanks only months ago. The tanks would have been probably enough to take the town...

as expected, Delhi falls easily today. Miller was able to evacuate a lot of troops but that doesn´t matter, they are now sitting at Karachi to be built up again and I don´t care if Karachi gets 200 av more or not, there will be thousands of av within the next year and then they will still not be able to force me out of the urban hex. Only way will be to get them out with convoys and that´s what Miller will probably do.

a successful day for our ground forces. First Delhi falls and now the first corps of the Chinese units North of Sian surrenders. We score 352 points for ground losses and went through the 15.000 points mark being at 15.049 now! I don´t know for sure but I guess I will break my all time record for Allied ground losses in this game. Nearly half of my total victory points from Allied ground losses.

Miller´s troop strenght at Dili is further increasing, another division has arrived. Will be interesting how many he will bring in the end and if I will be able to inflict losses in our wooden hex.
