If I shoot 2 hexes with my Flammpanzer III, why isn't the hex inbetween hit? Flame goes through a wormhole? The Time-Space Interspatial Relationship is temporarily out of working order? :p Maybe this was mentioned b4, but this has been going around in my mind for a while now. Maybe my tanks shoot Warprockets :D

Since the wife and kids are still asleep and I feel like answering questions....or at least trying to ;) ....here's why I think you see what you do:
If you have ever seen footage of a FT tank in action, the liquid travels the first several yards in a "stream" when being fired at a distant target...with only "drippings" falling until it begins its downward arch.
Thus, I imagine, is the reason that you don't see things toasted right infront of you when firing at something 2 hexes away.

I'm with Orzel here - it takes 'a few' yards for the flame to hit the ground.

AHH... Warp missiles! Reminds me of the Warhammer 40,000 Epic board game. Those were fun! Nothing like having a warp missle flicker in and out of reality across the battlefield to materialize itself in the enemy Titan boiler room! *BOOM* :p :p :D

Also, the old SP code doesn't concern itself with in between hex accountability when targetting only the target hex. Example: Your MG nest is firing upon the enemy 2 hexes away( with a completely clear line of sight), your rifle squad moves into the hex between the 2 of you, if you continue to fire at the enemy it's in essence firing through the occupied hex to get to the target hex without friendly fire casualties. A little unrealistic huh, Combat Leader will take this type of action into account in a reworked LOS formula.

Yep - it fades rather quickly in some types of weather. I've seen infantry smoke fade to uselessness in a couple of turns. OBA and artillery smoke usually last 6-8 turns or longer.

I have a quick question. I have two boys that are networking SPWAW over a LAN. Now they get like 600 points to buy tanks and all but they would like to get about 3000 to 4000 points to get lots of tanks. Anyway to set the points on a LAN game? I'm new to SPWAW and am reading the manual to find out but I still don't know. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks, Cliff

If you're playing a battle (as opposed to a scenario), the host should be able to go to the preferences screen and set the number of points for each side. The default is 'XXX', which means the actual points may depend on the engagement type selected (meeting/advance/delay/etc.).

The points contols are in the two columns of numbers on the right-hand side of the preferences panel.

I found it. Thanks! I also found a bunch of other settings that I am going to play with. I'm also looking for a number of turn setting but I don't see it yet. This game is great! It works over a LAN. And no CD needed. I wonder if there are going to be anymore updates now that it is at 7.1.

Your number of turns is the "LENGTH" setting on the main battle editor screen.

Found the length setting, thanks. But one more problem I have is that when I do a print scrn and paste it to paint, the colors are not the same as the game colors. I wonder what could be wrong.

I found out that if you have three players (on a network) that there are only two sides still. I was Russians and had 4000 points. Then the other two players were German and shared their 4000 points. I could not find Russian 152 artillery but found some good rockets. This is not like a RTS where each player runs their own army. But this is real war so it's good to get away from RTS once in awhile.

Close combat, yesss... :p It's a lot of fun to close-assault an AFV with that setup! But I think I'd switch the flamer or thunder hammer for an assault cannon..they're lethal.

Cyclone missile launchers - don't we just luuuv rocket artillery? :p (should I change name to Nebelwerfer?) They are fun, but I don't think having a mobile rocket platform justifies the loss of an "ordinary" terminator. Really, you can do without it but if you really need heavy artillery, there's better alternatives - e.g. a Whirlwind, Land Raider, Dreadnought, Razorback or whatever.

I disagree the idea of 12 Krak rockets, all fired at once at your opponents prize tank, applease to me, remebmer when u fire more than one your get a template effect, growinf 1/2 inch with each additional missile, even teh toughest tank would ahve a hard time survuvung unscathed again one of them, hits in as many locations as you care to mention.

my favourite tank was the hellhound, really aggressive.

shame i dont play anymore really should get back in

Use two assault cannons... cut through infantry real fast. :D Don't use cyclones, as it wastes the terminators close combat potential, put rocket launchers on cybots instead. Did anybody ever use the Eversor assassin?
