Odd question, but in the interrest of solving this. Do you guys with the issues have a wireless mouse?

Kind regards,

Rasmus

Don't forget about us! Any suggestions on how to test solutions out on our end would be great.

on my 64 bit laptop, the only real slow down I see, is when trade routes is picked and I move across the map, then the routes stop, until I stop the scrolling

if I mouse over a province and click on the quick build Icon, then the mouse seems a little slower on the scroll, while that province is still clicked on, but I see a slight slow down, not what has been seen by the others

so I am not sure

Ok guys, might have solved this. I have 2 mice in my device manager. HID-compliant mouse and my Microsoft Optical Trackball. I disabled the HID compliant mouse and reloaded COG with Advanced Economy. I am happy to report that the lag is IMPROVED but NOT ELIMINATED. For me, at least, it is moderately playable with small annoyances rather than totally unplayable. Going to try disbaling the other mouse and enabling HID-compliant mouse to see if I get anything different. Will report back if hings change.

Eric, still need a fix on this, but this info may help out.

I only have the Logitech G5 mouse on this computer, no other input devices. My mouse reports per second rate is at 500, I tried to lowering it, but that made no difference.

I don't know, I';ve tried everything I can think of, but the lag remains. I actually find it easier to scroll the map with the arrow keys to position the cursor then use the keyboard commands from there. Pretty annoying.

I have had only minor lag problems, and only with advanced economy enabled. When I completely uninstalled (not just turned off) Ad-Aware, however, my mouse movement became noticeably smoother. Give it a try.

Edit: Lag is very bad on the trade map view, however.

I don't have Ad-Aware. Do you think maybe AVG Anti-virus is the culprit?

Nope, uninstalled but issue remains. The problem is definitely with the information update when mousing over something.

Yes, this is my definite impression too.
And the game nearly comes to a stop when turning on the trade route overlay.

This issue is my top priority right now.  My hypothesis is that on certain machines the data-refresh routine is being triggered more frequently than normal.  I'm working on a way to short circuit this and avoid this data-refresh except when absolutely necessary.

Perhaps when it's ready we can make a beta copy of the update available to those on this thread who are having the lag problems so that we can test the fix.

As posted in the Development Forum - I also get this problem quite severely and this is even with Simple Economy. This problem for me is cumulative. I can click on units and move them but afte I have moved 2 or 3 units the game siezes up. If I save the game and load it again then I can move several more units and so on...

I am running XP Pro on a Toshiba Laptop with 2GB Memory - laptop is about a year old. Have postd the DXDIAG on the Dev Forum.

Those of you in the public forum who are experiencing this issue and would like to help us out, I have a beta build I'd like to share with you in exchange for your feedback on whether it helps out with this problem. This would involve signing our beta test NDA and joining the COG: EE beta team, though you're not obligated to do any testing beyond helping us with feedback on beta builds regarding this one issue. If you're interested, please e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com. Thanks.

Thanks, those who applied should receive an e-mail from Karlis today with a NDA. As soon as we receive that back, we'll give you access to the beta forum and the latest beta build to see if it improves the lag issue for you.

I discovered that having the visual themes disabled causes lag on the Trade and Military screens. I can now play CoG EE on my main computer in all its Glory
