I noticed that as well.  I want to say it was 120,000 versus 70,000.

I wonder if the better tactic wouldnt be to heavily garrison your fortresses and refuse battle hoping the huge national morale hit resulting from the complete destruction of the French Navy would be enough to bring the war to a close?

Would that even work?

Those are close to the numbers I would have said too. On top of that I had 2 armies nearby, one with 40K troops and one with 30K troops. I believe the 30K troops might have been to far (never know since there is no replay). But that's still mean the 40k troops in Vienna should have been able to change that to 160K to 70K...

Anyways, this game is showing a problem I have with portectorate. France is completely cut off from any ''true'' france's province by the Russian now. But unfortunetely, he suffers no attrition whatso ever because he can keep is troops supplied from Italian provinces he just conquered from me...
This makes me sad to :)

Yeah I suppose I can't complain about my naval defeat after that land battle. Although that was Napoleon leading the French... what was that saying?...Napoleon's presence on the field was equal to having 50,000 troops or something?

Not sure if there is any march to the sound of guns, but I doubt it since support orders don't work.

Hi there.

I'll post my turn tonight. Depending on what happens with the turns over the weekend, I might be late sending them in on Monday / Tuesday. A friend died very suddenly and if at all possible (finances / getting my work covered) I'll need to go on an overnight trip then to go to the funeral. So sorry if I'm late responding to emails etc (I'm not plotting, hehe), but I've got lots of things to sort out.

In any case, normal service will resume very, very shortly.

For those who knows:
Russia is living from my depots, it is thus longer for me to complete my turn as I need inputs by Russia on it's movement to be sure to find a place to drop a depot for him. So please give me some time :)

LOL well the rumor I tried to plant would have been an obvious stinker, it didn't show up for me and considering no one has mentioned it I don't think it worked. I can't remember word for word but I was trying to inject a little humor into the campaign and typed something like:

Gustav IV of Sweden is adverse to alliances and gains the isolationist trait (negative modifiers to diplomacy).

Either rumors aren't working or it doesn't recognize characters like ( ) .

Franck,

I didn't see any battles in the event log either.

Is the event report you pull up COMPLETELY blank?  I have lots of stuff in mine.  Just no battles.

HiHi

Franck did you download & save the .rep file? there were lots of probs along similar lines in FoF which had 4 return files and folk droped some of them out.

B2 not sure on this but have you checked all the countries likely to be in Events on your 'Hot list' in Diplo, think you only get reports on those you check.

Here you go, Austrias stuff from Events

france wins a battle in Upper Austria, casualties 13,043/2140 Glory 6

" " small battle " " 0/0 Glory 0

Turkey wins a small battle in Montenegro v Austria 0/0 Glory 1

Other stuff
Austria & Prussia declare an Alliance,
Austria forms a protectorate with Montenegro
Britain subsidises Austria for £75
Austria trains for target 1 upgrade
Austria declares herself an Empire
Marie-Louis lowers french moral 0
Metternech lowers french moral 2

Austria GP now 86.

Think thats your lot

All the Best
Peter

I figured that it might be the problem (didn't donwload the file nicely).

I see the french got in the way of one of my smallest army tryed to get to Vienna (30K troops with no generals fighting napy and 70K french...) I hope they didn't try to give a fight and just tried to flee!

Only had a chance to quickly scan the turn, as I've been away from my pc mostly for 2 days. My event report is fine. France took several cities from Austria, but in some of these seiges, Austria caused significantly more casualties to the French than they suffered. Russia also retook a captured French city.

Overall, a very interesting turn. France is definately catching up on Britains lead in glory (now wafer thin), and has arrested the decline in her morale.

Austria now at war with Turkey since, I presume, Austria formed a protectorate with Montenegro when Turkey attacked.

The plot is definately thickening by orders of magnitude.

Should be more responsive over the weekend, but as you are aware, I'm away to a funeral monday / tuesday. Not sure if my hotel has wireless, so forgive me if the turn after this is not in until late tues / pm weds European time.

P.S. I'll try to cut / paste / post my event log tomorrow when I've got more energy.

Had a weird bug last turn. Couldn't build units I had the capacity / money / resources for, but it seems fine now.

There was a French Merchant there. Good work! I'll get the other one if it stays near my waters.

Definately another interesting turn that time. France and Austria both went with the Target Practice I upgrade.

Can't remember what happened in the Irish Sea... need to go back and check. Was that one of my merchants that got bullied? Or did I win that one?

Really wish there was more info concerning the battles. A brief explanation of what forces and ranking officer would be nice.

HiHi

To be sung to the tune of “Oh Sinner man!”

“Oh Frenchee boy, what you gonna sing now
Oh Frenchee boy, what you gonna sing now
Oh Frenchee boy, what you gonna sing now
Now Marseilles is gone”

OK, OK so it don’t scan ...
... and yes Bill you are quite correct, my Parents weren’t married.

All the Best
Peter
