Be advised that, if you intend to kill PTs with surface combat units, that you should only attack them in daylight. That means, don't use "mission speed" when attacking them (or you'll always show up at night). At night, the PTs will start closer, and close faster, and most certainly will get to launch their torps. In daylight, you'll usually start at about 22k yds, and the PTs will be forced to close to 8k yds, in which case you'll get a few rounds vs. them at range. Not many, and not enough rounds at range, but a few none-the-less. To arrive in daylight, you'll have to move at cruise or full speed, and, if your move indicator says something like 4/3, you'll need start at 7 hexes away from your target (you'll move 4 hexes at night, and 3 in the day, ending your movement and SC check in the enemy hex). Be prepared to be frustrated tho. PTs can be very nasty vs. your SC groups (as most folks in this thread are cautioning). Frankly, most of my PBEM opponents don't mess the hornet's nest (even tho we have HRs limiting 12x PTs per hex); and that's probably what I'd do too. -F-
