What ?!? Ya’ll burn the beans till they’re black, grind them into dust, and boil them into an oily sludge that tastes like month old sweat socks .. Woof!

Café Américain for me. A nice pot of Sumatra, or a Kona … mmmm coffee.

Good Kona beans are hard to beat...emphasis on good...but they are best lightly roasted.

Only 3 or 4? Man, I drink a whole pot by ten am. Don't touch it the rest of the day.

What would be interesting to know is: is it a "european coffee", or an american one?
You know, the american one would be call a "socket juice" to mean it's not really some coffee

Well, it isn't expresso, nor is it that ground horse scheiss in a can they sell over here.

I buy beans from a local roaster here, mostly Ethiopian and Kenyan sources, and grind them myself. I do use a drip maker rather than a french press simply due to convenience. I can set it all up the night before and just have to stumble my way to the coffee maker to get my jumpstart. If I had to go through the rigmarole my wife does (French press) in the morning I'd never get a decent cup of coffee. I've got the brainpower of a leafy vegetable before my morning coffee.

French press coffee is the best IMO, but I just am not capable of executing it properly on most mornings.

Kona and Jamaica Blue Mountain are tops. And expensive.

Medium roast is best for most coffee types to get the broadest flavor. Dark roasting just brings out nasty bitterness IMO.

I should probably clean up my "Ignore" list... There's 373 people on it, but lots of them probably haven't been around lately either.

I don't ignore anybody. I'd rather be P.O.ed. So, T ... T? ... T?

Hmmm... now, I wonder who the other 372 are...

I would guess that's because the first part of the book deals with a period of history that's generally less well known...?

Yep... the first time I tried climbing the Col du Galibier it was a 100+ Farenheit day and I came down with heat exhaustion. I got about 2/3's of the way up before I had to stop and throw up. Took a nap for about thirty minutes before I could ride back down the pass. I did come back a couple of weeks later and made the climb (the day before I rode up L'Alpe D'Huez).

I'd never heard of the whole Yashoda thing until I read that book.

Indeed, because I know so little about the period, I'm waiting for my reserved copy at the library to be available.

Well...that's almost certainly true....but for me its because that was Britain's heyday and they just weren't challenged much. Makes for a boring time period for a military history buff.

French roast for me. A Starbucks has the darkest out there. I hate to admit it , but they do French Roast right.

I used to buy very fresh roasted beans of a local dealer when I was more of a coffee snob...honestly I've let my standard slip. I've noticed this trend as one gets older. My parents, who used to be coffee snobs themselves just started drinking instant.

I didn't drink coffee when I was younger. Thought it tasted like turdwater. Now I realize that's exactly what it was and enjoy real coffee. But hey, if that other stuff is what you like, go for it. Somebody buys it.

Wow, one thread, two additions to my iggy list, in one day!

I could try to reason with them.  I could try to educate them.  But, Ron White says it best, "You can't fix stupid!"

373!

I have 2 people on my "Ignore List" and they still post (albeit 99.99% of time not here in "The Thread" - thank God)...

Leo "Apollo11"

I have 2. And they're staying there, for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. I don't care where they post and what they're posting about or whether they've not been online in years.

Well, it's easy. First when you wake, take a good French press coffee, then you'll be in good shape to properly make it
