Is it possible to play in 2D?  Don't much fancy the out-of-scale toy-soldier look.  I know I am in the minority on this issue, but I won't purchase if there is no decent 2D option.  Thanks.

Remember, this isnt a John Tiller game.

Well, i am another 2D player, i prefer play with counters because is easy see the situation in the map better than with 3D units... and i can add that i see better 3D art in units in HPS mods than in H&M, sorry but units looks like if i have a high level of alcohol in my blood and 7 soldiers to represent a unit of 750...

Every mod have a 3D snap

Here you can see 1 3D image:

I dont see that the 3D art is bad but it can be much better.

EDIT: for an only 3D game Graphips need more work, if we can only play in 3D at least do it better.

I use the mods for all my HPS games too.

A few notes on HnM V1 graphics...they are meant to have the miniatures feel for the units and the terrain. It is a syalized design choice. You can also make new units and use them in user created scenarios...maps, OOB, scenario details and data. The game is completely open.

2D units/map is on my future development list as an optional play method.

Regards,
Tim

Ok, my 2 cent goes to the fact that this is a game with only 3D view and the design of units dont help to an easy understand of the battlefield and the low res... i dont like pay for a game (it could be a great game) and need to wait modders to play it with no protection for me eyes

Mark me down as a 3D player.  IMHO counters are so dry and boring.  Makes it really hard to get into the game.  Animated miniatures done right really adds to the game.  I remember Sid Meiers based his Gettysburg game partly on the Civil War history book (name escapes me) with the bird's eye view of the battles with illustrations of miniature soldiers.  Something similar in high resolution would be a must buy.

Given the open nature of the program, I was contemplating creating new unit graphics (basically counters).  The isometric viewpoint would be less than optimal for that, however.   I am glad to hear that a 2D unit/map is at least being considered.  It would be wonderful from my perspective to be able to play on something akin to a period style map with units being represented by filled rectangles with the characteristic facing line.

Hmmm.... lets see.... Rolling On Floor My A** Off

Hmmm..... I've seen DOGS do something like that. I hear tell it is due to having worms or something along those lines and that there are meds that can be given to clear up the problem.
