Battle of Britain
Catch 22
Command Decision
Dam Busters, The

ohoh, did you see the part about John Woo's film ? flying tigers heroes ?

the hints he makes, I hope he means he is bringing in that guy from Japan, who does CGI, his work is outstanding

for the movies, don't forget
God is my Copilot
Dambusters
Tora, Tora, Tora

and the movie that must not be named (but the flying shots were good :)

30 seconds over Tokyo (LOL, I am tired, had to google for the spelling and couldn't get it, so had to seach for Capitol of japan !)

That famous fellow Kiwi Peter Jackson is supposed to have a remake of the Dambusters in his schedule somewhere
It seems hes right into aircraft memoriabilia etc has even started his own model aircraft company

"A foray into the world of hobby modelling has established Peter Jackson as New Zealand's own lord of the wings. The film-maker's latest side venture will be unveiled to the Wellington public when scale aeroplane models from his new model company, Wingnut Wings, go on display at the National Scale Models Expo this weekend.

Command Decision is another one, about a B-17 sqd with Clark Gable.

Not many action shots but a fine movie.

Dont forget the Grand Daddy of em all.... Air Force.... Where a lone B-17 destroys the entire Japanese Imperial Navy in a 3 day stretch right after Pearl and Clark are bombed.

Then there is "Fighter Squadron" with Edmond Obrian in the ETO.

And "A Wing and a Prayer" with Harry Morgan

And then from the Japanese perspective "I Bombed Pearl Harbor"

Just to name a few classics

Later,
KayBay

Has anyone seen "The War Lover" starring Steve McQueen as a B-24 pilot?
I've heard about it for years but have yet to lay hands on a copy.

Also, there is Catch-22 which has some EAW action albeit surreal...

Don't forget the marvellous "The Way to the Stars". British film made in 1945, written by Terence Rattigan whilst still serving in the RAF propaganda unit, and with poems by John Pudney, also of the RAF creative writing team. Set at a bomber airfield 1940-43, with first RAF Blenheims, then RAF Bostons based there, then turned over to an 8th AF bomber group. No action sequences - all you ever see are the aircraft taking off and landing - but very mature and at times very blunt for the time about the losses; two thirds of the leading stars fail to return; the remaining lead - John Mills - becomes bitter and withdrawn; Yanks come over rather crass and arrogant when they first arrive, before getting drawn into the drumbeat of ops; and, right at the beginning, the RAF bomber squadron's commander is allowed to express irritation at the over-hyping of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. Focus is very much on the emotional toll of the air war on the station and neighbouring village.

Question to the fans of the movie "Battle of Britain".
I have the Gold Edition DVD that runs a bit more than 126 minutes, I had a chance to see the Blue Ray version and it runs almost 133 minutes but I couldn't find any additional or extended scenes in it, how can that be?
Personally I had the feeling that the BR version runs too slow as the voices sounded different from my Gold Edition.
Can that be some NTSC/PAL issue or what?

NTSC and PAL have - depending on the version used - different frame rates.

A very interesting thread concerning "Air Force" and the identification of the B-17 (or B-17s) that portrayed "Mary Ann" in that film:
