A stupid question, is this is a comprehensive patch which includes the previous patches 1080 hotfix and 1083c beta? So I no longer need to keep those old patches on my computer and use them to patch new installations before patching with 1084 Comp.

Are there any AI script changes in the official patch that were not in the public beta?

According to the 'What's New File' there are no differences in Air Group, Ship, Base data, and Unit locations when upgrading from the Public Beta to the Official Patch. If so, that means the only thing I could be missing by not restarting are AI Script changes which are understandably not listed.

Duke yes but all I tweaked were the late war allied scripts so if playing v Jap AI it will be the same for beta/offical allied AI scripts have small changes not really material enough to warrent restart

When I start a "Quiet China" Dec. 8 Campaign as Allies, none of the BB's at Pearl have any damage

Am I missing something -- ?  I checked the regular Dec. 8 campaign, and West Virginia etc. have the usual 95 Flt damage, etc.

sounds like that is the 'Allied Friendly' version - to make up for the iron man scenario for the Jap players.

Doesn't the readme specifically say that there are *no differences* between the "Quiet China" and regular scenarios except how the China theater is treated?

I for one would definitely prefer that the conditions for Dec. 8 campaign be the same for both. I'd like to play Quiet China Dec. 8, but with the correct post-Pearl bombing damage to ships, etc.

Sometimes you luck out and have little damage. When I started the game on release, I lost none of the BB's in PH and in fact the damage was fairly light all things considered. The POW and Repulse even mangaged to get back to port for repair. I restarted with the release of the patch and things have not gone so well. 2 BB's in PH are gone and the other 6 will be in the yards for a very long time. The POW is sunk and the Repulse has 91 flotation. Just the luck of the die roll.

But I'm referring to the campaign that begins on December 8. I understand that if you do a Dec. 7 start, the PH raid is not necessarily going to result in precisely historical outcome.

What I'm saying is: Dec. 8 regular campaign: Pearl BB's are damaged to reflect the Dec. 7 raid.

Dec. 8 "Quiet China" campgain: Pearl BB's have *no* damage. none. as if Dec. 7 never happened.

This can't be WAD -- can it?

I doubt it. I am sure someone with the design team will look into it.

I wonder if we could get a hot fix on this as it is just the scenario file that need fixing. I have overwritten my old files and would like to have a go at this scenario.

Thanks guys,

erm, I had the beta patch, and the Truk shipyard was there, now it's gone with the official patch. Is this by design? Cause the What's New file says you added a shipyard at Truk. Was it maybe cause I had expanded it a lot?

Any way to fix this in an ongoing campaign?

Yes it was removed by design.

There is no way to add a shipyard to a port during an ongoing game.

In the last screen of the update installer, just click the "View Readme" button. Or if you missed that, go into the Start menu folder for WITP AE and look for the "What's New" link.

Isn't "What's New" a pdf file?

In any case, I assume the new "Threat Assessment" line on the TF routing menu is explained there as I can't find it anywhere in the manual.

Also, after patching-up and going back to the "Canal" scenario, I noticed almost all my troops now have an "R" after them; will I eventually be able to free these men for duty elsewhere, and if so, how?

I'm still on the look-out for that promised AE tutorial; I'm hoping it (1) comes w/the next patch and (2) has something abt production in it.

But you can send Naval Support, and work Truk up to its actual capabilities.
