Is it possible to run Tracker on my Mac?

Roger

No Mac, no test Roger - let us know ... but Java is supposed to be portable.

The key is running the DLL, so it's not portable. It could work under Bootcamp or Parallels. I don't have either (but do have a Mac), so I can't test for sure.

Paul,
Being a glutton for punishment, I've found something that might work for you, it's called Javaexe, it is a java executable launcher, and seems to work well, but then I don't have 64bit to test. But could test with the memory setting and this works. So unless someone else with Vista64 bit can chime in, this is as far as I can go in helping you out. If this doesn't work, you'll just have to live with it until I have enough time to get back to you after filling out the other Tracker areas we'd rather be dealing with.

It works fine under Parallels, but I run a dual monitor Mac with AE running on one screen under parallels and would quite like to have Tracker running on the other one. For some reason AE doesn't like running in coherence mode.....As you say java is supposedly portable so I will give it a try and see.

I assume I would just copy the whole folder onto the Mac side and see what happens........... and yes i have worked out I'd need to put the game save into that folder.

Will report result.

Roger

Copied folder across to Mac side, fired up the bat file and it opened Tracker in Parallels......

I think I'm going to get AE to run in coherence mode, life will be easier then!

The bottom set is wrong - the second one should be -Xmx512m

If I remember right, the Xms setting is the initial mem size, and the Xmx is the max mem size. By not specifing Xmx you are letting it stay at the default which I think is 64m.

According to Paul (P.Hausser), I've fixed his problem running tracker on a 64bit machine. I know some of you have no problems in a 64 bit environ, but if you are still having problems - I think I have the solution. By using a 3rd party java launcher, you can set up the memory configuration properly... If you need to get your hands on it, contact us, and I've sent it onto Floyd as well.

Otherwise, we continue to work toward the next iteration of Tracker, which will have a lot more of the AE specific data available. I'm sure it won't be out shortly though, there is a lot of data to include yet ...

Regards

Two problems.

1. When I import a new base region I get the following error.

2. LCU Production arrival locations aren't correct. For instance tracker tells me that US LCU reinforcements are arriving at Goa?

Chris,
strange ? What scenario and which region file ? If this is one of the smaller scenario's then the base-regions we have created, with the help of Nomad, might not work ...

Thanks to both of you for Witp Tracker,

It is the first time ever playing Japanese and this tool is the only way I have a hope of handling the vastness.

Two quick questions, since FOW in AE, do air results show actuall losses and not FOW, it appears that may be the case?
Also Naval losses does Tracker show actual losses not FOW?

In my current game AE it show CA New Orleans sunk, but tracker does not?

Thanks in advance and if I am asking simple questions please direct me to the frequently answered questions.

Thanks

Damian and you need to go to Port and Starboard shifts. Since you live on opposite sides of the planet, each can work 12 hours shifts and then have 12 hours off (sleep, eat, work your "other" job, family, etc.).

If the base in the import file isn't there in the save, the program just ignores it (and generates the message) when you do the import.

I believe that air losses are not subject to FoW, but naval losses are. There are some issues with WitPTracker and FoW that I'm working on now.

Hi, New to WitPtracker but looks invaluable to keeping track of things in this game. FOllowed instructions but get this when I run the bat program:
"Unable to access jarfile WitPTracker.jar"
sorry haven't figured out how to get the snipped image into this post.

Does your tracker folder look like the one in the installation section of our web page ? (to upload pic, click "click here to upload!" and tick Embed picture in post -- not Fast Reply though)

[edit]Oops, do you have java installed ?

I'm assuming that the witptracker.jar is in the folder c:\Gavan\MatrixGames ..., which seems like a strange place, cause the program unzips to witptracker folder ?

Is Java Installed ? click here

--Damian--

[edit:]Yep, Looks like Java is installed from the picture. Ok, looks like a Java pathing problem. Can you copy the savefile into that folder, make sure your witptracker.properties is correct (savefile name) then double click witptracker.jar ... hopefully we can see it load.

That seems to have done it. I haven't looked at everything yet, but the .db files appeared and the program loaded. Now is this a program that must run underneath while playing my WitPAE game, or can it get the info after I've saved and exited the game.
And if it is run after my game has been saved/exited what do I click on to open it...the .jar file?
Thanks for your help
cc
ps if it was a problem with Java finding it...should I move the tracker program somewhere else? or try reinstalling Java?

Well, we are not finished yet, the path problem still remains ... it is best to run from the *.bat file as it has our memory settings, and without those you will not be able to load the next turn (unless you are a 64bit user).

So we have some choices:-
1. we can set the windows system environment to locate java.
2. we can copy the java.exe from the install java dir to this directory.
3. we can move tracker to a location that works (probably c:\ or your desktop)

Anytime, it is a stand alone util, you don;t need AE open, it has its own DB ...

Well, I want you to use the batch file... so see above.

Number 1. and 2. were beyond me so I tried suggestion number 3.
set up the tracker file in its own file on C:, ran the .bat file and it loaded up the .db files and the program, but the cmd line is still running in the dos window with a blinking cursor underneath?

Yep that is normal ... now you need to read about loading additional turns and seeing all that lovely data

Cheers, hope you enjoy it.

[edit] hope you put it in a folder in c: ... just for tidiness like c:\tracker

I noticed these 2 LCU formations not reading correctly.

7799 36th chinese division
7800 88th chinese division

Both only list and track engineers and support. Nothing else is listed on their TOE

Thanks for the report, looks like these Lcu's don't have a TOE assigned in the DB, so they should be picking up their local TOE iirc (and they look wrong too)... I guess Floyd will have to have another look & after testing it might be that the land team needs to have a look.

cpcunningham - the web site will be where I'll post tutorials as they become available, time permitting
