It snowed here tonight

I noticed that as I watched the Horror Show that was televised yesterday. It was snowing as the Patriots absolutely beat down/humbled the footbal team formerly known as the Titans, now called the Tennessee Titties.

With all due respect, Stuman, if they were the Tennessee Titties, they'd be a whole lot more entertaining to watch...

I could not agree more. If the Titties played like that I am not even sure they could beat Alabama at this point.

Tithe...IN SPITE OF BILL GATES!!!

Does any one else have this computer problem? Everytime Microsoft "updates" my Vista 32 it continues to send me into "The blue screen od death" every time I try to do something (like play a game or go  online). Any suggestions? It usually takes several days of consatnt re-boots to finally get the machine serviceable.

I'm still on XP, Steve, but I haven't seen this on my wife's computer with Vista.

I wish that I still was on XP, but unfortunately that died with my old computer. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 as soon as it's released. But with my luck, that will probably be worse.
I wonder if I should totally "scrub" my computer and return it to "back in the box" condition?

I reload computers all the time at work, and that is generally the recommendation for a situation like yours.... IF you would not be losing a bunch of data. If it's a viable option, reload it to a clean OS, then run the windows updates manually, several times since some updates only get applied after others are already applied. Once it says there are no more High Pri updates, you should be good to go. Of course, that assumes it's not still having the problem after updating.

Windows 7 sounds like a much better OS than Vista, but it's all second hand info for me so far. I haven't laid eyes on it yet.

I have been running Windows 7 for close to 6 months now and love it. Its stable and has had no issues running anything I throw at it. My only caveat is that I loaded it on a brand new pc so it may not be comparable to what you are loading on.

Both for the sig banner and the help and patience for getting it right!

Thanks for your help and encouragement Chickenboy!

Many thanks to all! I still feel like a mindless old @##$% , so I think I'll either get back to my homework, or maybe try and injure myself with power tools!

Steve, there have been very few more appropriate sig banners in the history of the internet! Congrats to you, and to the Amazing Dixie!

I just took a trip to the local used book store.  Picked up a great condition copy of Janes Fighting Aircraft of WWII for $6.00.

Just glanced inside the cover, but it is apparently a reprint of the '46/47 edition that used the latest known information at the time.  Should be a blast to read and browse.

I suppose I should be insulted! But really, I thought I was getting over it! Dixie hasn't had to ready his "Free the Matrix One" banner in months! (It's a shame, I really, really liked it!).

Ebay is a great source for Jane's . I've built up quite a collection over the years. But unfortuanately the best source is the UK and shipping makes it unaffordable.

I actually had a series of banners ready. I probably would have got myself banned as well when every one of my posts featured something from the collection

Talking about Janes, I have a quite horrendous story to tell. Four years ago, the Swedish National Defence College moved a couple of kilometers within Stockholm to new facilities. I was a student at the college at that time. One evening, going home from school, I passed the college parking lot where they had set out some garbage containers to throw away unwanted literature, documents etc. I glanced into it, and found to my horror that the college library had culled an older, formerly archived AND complete collection of Janes Fighting Ships from 1912 to 1949 in pretty good condition (judging from the covers). Being culled, they had ripped off the covers and mutilated the pages ...

Oh the horror! WHY, OH WHY COULDN'T THE LIBRARIAN IDIOTS JUST *ASK* IF SOMEBODY WANTED THE BOOKS!?!? They did exactly that with most of the other literature about to be culled ... I've never wanted to hit a librarian more in my life than then.

Also, it would have been fun to have checked how much you could have got from an antiquarian. Not that I would've sold them if I had them.

I still get upset when I think about it. With that sad note, I'm off to bed . G'night gentlemen

Good Monday morning - Tithe.

(Brother Mynok is on vacation this week, so he shouldn't take offense)

Dream on....anytime the work phone rings on vacation is grounds for a sucky Monday.

Although in balance I have to confess it was a gorgeous day here at the coast. Sat out on the deck this evening with a good cigar, a nice tumbler of Bushmills and a brilliantly clear night. The stars were rocking! I could see most of the 7 sisters, Jupiter was bright in the SSE, and I swear I could see Andromeda.

It is truly sad that two generations of kids have grown up without the stars thanks to the awful light pollution. If you think it is irrelevant, just ask a kid if he's seen the Milky Way.
