Once again, the Sultan of San Antone takes on the Pride of Plainview. This time, I am the British assaulting the Red Chinese in 1942. The map is divided by a river, which I chose to balance my armor advantage. Not too much cover, but lots of terrain. The upper left is cut off from the rest of the map by the river, which curves up in the middle. A branch comes down at a receding angle, nearly cutting off the bottom right. There is a very thin strip of beach at the bottom of this arm, which I have declared impassible to my units. I had about 8300 points, roughly 1200 of which were used to purchase some Nationalists. There was a small area at the bottom available to me to deploy forces already across the river. I chose to place only recon elements there, since packing it with armor would have been cheesy. The game begins with a ferocious preemptive bombardment by the enemy, which certainly supresses, if not seeming to kill anyone. An 8in battery nails the communist 149's, hopefully disrupting them for a while. There are also a lot of 82mm mortars. To cover my crossing, two other 8in batterys lay smoke. On my little corner of his bank, I advance with M3 Scout Cars, a few snipers, and some Nationalist cavalry. Bunkers and some ATG's are spotted, and there seem to be Red snipers here. No damage, but I think his PaK 35/36's can handle the Scout Cars with no trouble. The bunkers thankfully are only armed with MG's. On the northern strip, the only troops to see action are My Mk. VI recon tanks, who are fired on by a 12.7. So far, no one has lost a man, with the exception of some Red artillerists. Seth
