In the former predecessor "War in Russia", it was possible to relocate some forces from the other theaters to the Eastern Front to strengthen the frontline. Will this be possible with the upcoming WitE or not??
Will it be possible to send an additional Fallschirmjägerdivision (Paratroopers) to the East with some Airtransport Assets, so I can play a little bit ahistorical and paradropping german forces ahead of an armoured spearhead??
And I want do some amphibious landing with german troops like they did in the Baltic with their landings on Dagö and Ösel, the russian-occupied islands before the baltic mainland.

greetings

Hohenlohe

Yes, in editor if it is outside the historical timetable.

The point of the game is to put you in the same situation the Germans and Russians faced historically and see if you can do any better. The air assault on Crete had decimated the German airborne force and it was still in the process of re-building when Barbarossa was launched. You will receive the 7th Flieger Division when it was historically sent to the Eastern Front in October and it is possible to conduct airborne operations with it but highly unlikely you will do so.

The Germans do not possess an amphibious capability in the Baltic since in game terms such capability implies the ability to land whole corps on hostile beaches. The operations you refer to were not on that scale and the islands in question can be captured from the landward side using the normal movement rules.

The editor may allow for some deviations from history but I don't understand why you would want to. It is a "no brainer" that if you increase the strength of either side by giving them capabilities and/or forces they didn't have available historically that they will do better. What does that prove? Personally, I'd much rather defy history than invent it.

I'd like to have the historical forces available, but in computer assisted piles of panzer divisions, infantry divisions, etc like Drang Nach Osten. I'd then allocate them to the various Army Groups I wished, within certain realistic limitations, ie. two panzer armies cant attack out of Romania and the Russians cant put all their tanks in Smolensk, etc.

An argument can certainly be made that neither side's initial strategy was exactly perfect.

The WitE game system is purposely designed to encourage the realistic employment of forces. To use your example above, tanks are at a disadvantage fighting in built up areas like towns and cities since it throws away their weapon range advantage over infantry. Stacking Russian tank divisions in a city would simply make them easier to kill.

While the initial historical deployment is fixed, once the game is under way you have considerable latitude in how you manage your forces and can transfer divisions, corps or even entire armies between army groups. After June 22, 1941 anything your historical counterpart was capable of you are also.

Blast,

I was hoping to strip Siberia of all of the Red Army and send them to the Front. They plus the 10-12 British/Commonwealth Divisions, Bomber Command plus a substantial % of Fighter Command should see an early end to Barbarossa and a victory in the East for the Allies by mid 43.

Hmmm

if you did that, then the Germans, would be able to strip the western and Med fronts, and overpower the whole Allied cause at one time, interesting idea
