Hi all, quote:
ORIGINAL: BrucePowers I looked at a nice Panasonic plasma screen 3 weeks ago. However after I did that I thought about what I needed it for. I could not come up with a good answer. I won't buy one until I am forced to. I am happy with the 32 inch regular tv I have. Bruce, Panasonic plasmas are best - you won't regret it if you do decide to buy it! I have Pioneer plasma for almost 2 years now (42") but, unfortunately, Pioneer made only high-end producs and decided to withdraw from plasma manufacturing - since they left there is Panasonic and Samsung (both make most excellent plasma TVs)... Even entry level 42" Panasonix 42X10Y is superb for SD ("Standard Definition") TV picture we have in 99% of cases, shines with DVDs and is great with HD ("High Definition") material - it costs just 700 Euros in Europe or around 1000 $ in USA! BTW, here are some explanations (I = "Interlaced", P = "Progressive" - the numbers are vertical resolution lines): SD = 576i / 576p (PAL) or 480i / 480p (NTSC) HD = 720p and 1080i and 1080p Leo "Apollo11"
