Hi. Found something really good. Thought I would pass it on.

This has been happening to me ever since discovering beer.

quote:

Was running out of the ordinary Pinot for the holidays and went to the wine store.

We always went to the ordinary Pissoir first.

quote:

He was all out of the Drouhin – oh, depression.

Not that there's anything WRONG with that.

quote:

But then he went out back and came out with a bottle of some stuff he said would drink really good.

It obviously wasn't my friend Mikey. Mikey's had a stroke, so when he drinks, he slobbers all down his left side, so he drinks really bad.

quote:

It was a bit young so I took it home, decanted, and let it sit for a couple hours and had a taste. Hoot!! Pazooties!!

You shoulda taken 'er pazooties off a lot sooner than a couple of hours. The young stuff is pretty anxious to get goin' in my experience.

quote:

Stuff drinks like a Drouhin ’86,

Which sci-fi shoot-'em-up are they in?

quote:

and it’s only $35.00 a bottle!!

Coupla guys of us wanna know if yer likker store guy gots anythin' good fer about $35 a case.

quote:

OMG! Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune better watch their keesters.

I usually watch my own nuits and beaune and trust my keister to watch out fer itself.

quote:

Ok. It’s Californian;

Not that there's anything WRONG with that.

quote:

Taste per buck is rated at 9.6 Woofs.

So, we talkin' deer or dogs here?

quote:

Was impressed, really impressed.

That's what my girlfriend Pinot Noir said about the first time I dropped trou on 'er.

quote:

It’s a teensy, weensie, weensie, weensie, bit thiner than a Grand Cru Classe,

If yer weensie is that thin, the sistahs gonna laugh at you fer havin' a weedy dick.

quote:

but for $35 a bottle vs $350??!!!

We talkin' booze or propane here?

quote:

Definitely check it out if you get the chance.

Yer a daisy if ya do.

John, now that the laughter has tapered off a bit, I do appreciate the recommendation and will be sure to pass it on to my wife.

Mike, I hope your sweetie don't read this nonsense. It actually is a very, very good holiday Pinot. It really is up there on the woof scale. But ya have to like french style Burgundy. This ain't your typical Cali Chanel #5 Pinot. This is a french goddam Pinot and tastes like it and chews like it, and just give it a couple hours in the decanter. The flowers come through the nose when you exhale. Damn .. this is a good one.

Whats this with you 'peasants', and your Pinot, there is only one descent wine in this World, and that is South Australian Shiraz from the Barossa Valley!

So THAT's how Jeremy Hilary Boob, Ph.D., converted the Head Meanie to ... to ... to ... well, whatever he converted him to.

I always thought that liquor-induced effluence through the nose was pretty nasty (and usually followed by an extended period of unconsciousness), but I guess if it's a burgundy that caused it, it must be good, huh, John?

I think I'll cut and paste this into an email for my wife. She has a bit of wine knowledge. Maybe she can explain it to me.

Thanks for the tip, John.

Mike, I think you will love it. It's structured like a French Pinot. None of that overwhelming Cali perfume crap. This is a real, live, honest to gosh, BURGUNDY! Astringent, but fruit, lots of fruit in the mid pallette, some tobacco hint on the back, and mushrooms (once it breathes). Super complex. I started writing when it was only 2 hours open, but now it's a couple hours later and the tannins are softening even more.

They weren't harsh to start with, but as they soften and the pallette opens up, this little jewel is drinking like a Premier Cru (goddam close). Shoot Mike, this one is a winner!

It's looking like this one is heading towards 9.9 woofs, on the taste per buck scale. Jeez Louize.

My wine guy gets this direct; winery is small. If ya want some, lemme know. I'll grab what I can.

J

I am a Rhone fan myself, but I will try it out. Thanks.

Thanks, Memphigian. I didn't want to be a pain in the pas, but sometimes the temptations are just too great (and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles can getcha goin', too).

I got five more months and I'll be back at sea, so y'all won't have to put up with me for long. And Odysseus should have gone ahead and shacked up with Calypso if she really looked like Vanessa Williams in her prime (you know, late thirties dark satin hottie chewin' up the grass)...

I do love a good Barossa Shiraz, but I have to give the nod to Burgundy. They make wine like sex: slow, steady and really gooses the moose when it warms up.

So how was Oprah in her prime?

She had a prime? I mean, Nichelle Nichols had a prime (just ask Gene Roddenberry) ... Sade had a very few minutes of primeness in an "I'm always willing for rich white men" style ... Pam Oliver was prime for awhile, but lately, either she's knocked up or getting kind of pasty-faced from extra pounds ... Even Tyra Banks could once have been considered a prime cut if you trimmed off all the places she had been (think Chris Weber) ... but Oprah? Even in her modeling days, she always had that "If I was pink, you'd think I was a swine" look.

Tithe... So I called the hospital and informed the guy that I hadn't found a new job and wanted to hear his offer. He tells me I have to wait for one of the actual bosses to get back to me during the course of the day.

Goodie...
