Morning, Thread.  Dixie, best of luck for an uneventful delivery.  I'm sure most of the old timers around here remember those special days.  Enjoy and best wishes to you and Mrs. Dixie.

I assume you've got the necessary bags packed and ready to go?  Music to settle her down?  Car seat to bring the little shaver back with 'ya when the hospital stay is over?  Cell phone with charger?  Book to read?  Toiletries?

Alright, alright, I'll stop.  Good luck!

]

A friend of mine swore by eating Chinese to help speed things up... her first was a week late, they went out for Chinese and shortly after dinner she was rushing to the delivery room.

Chickenboy forgot one important item for your kit: the laptop with AE installed!

I've got a couple of new books, and some TV series to watch on my Ipod.

Even though I'm also a Notre Dame fan, I have REALLY enjoyed them.

Erm...Dixie...If this is your first, this will be an ideal opportunity for you to learn this timeless life lesson. If you bring entertainment for yourself foresaking mother, this will result in your doom. Does Mrs. Dixie have some things to keep herself amused? You know for those times between when she's spitting out curses at you for 'doing this to her' and asleep from the strain of it all.

Cheers, mate.

Yep, she's sorted. I'll be OK with Terry Pratchett, Alan Partridge and Peep Show

Most delivery suites have TVs in anyway, just make sure it's a TV show Mrs D wants to watch...

I was married to a midwife for many years and the advice given to mums to bring on labour was to have more of that which resulted in the current situation.

I'd heard this too from numerous sources, but most new fathers to be are scared to death of mucking things up by 'more of the same'. It gets a wee skeevey, eh?

So, I return to work on the 4th of January, with more hours and more pay. He literally told me that things were a mess in the department and needed to be put back on an even keel.

Two and a half months after I left, and THEY call ME!

Just wanted to add my congratulations Kristian !

I finished putting a couple thousand lights on the Christmas tree.  As I was wrapping up, my wife asked me, "Why aren't you watching the game?"  Thread, I love that woman!

Bummer, 3-0 Army after the 1st quarter.

Hi Mike !!
Yes, i know i should be patient. But it is now 3 months that i am struggling for her, and i admit that from time to time, i feel a little tired or disapointed. Moral is still good though (something in the 55 or 60 on 100 ? ).
And now, go see you match !!

There's nothing you can do except be patient, it's not good but it's all you can do for now. There's even less that I can do, except to say that sadness and tiredness are something you have to deal with as part of being alive. Just remember that you're doing it for her no matter how helpless you might feel at times, she's lucky to have someone who cares for her as much as you do.

Thanks Martin !
And now you guys, all my friends from this forum, stop it !
i really don't complain. I do my best since the beginning. Not because i have a kind of moral law because Claire is my wife, but because i love her !
Yes sometime i ask myself if i could do more/better. But usually i realise that i did everything that i can/could. And i know i must....wait for a better time. It will come. In months probably. But a friend of mine used to say: "it doesn't matter, you have the entire life to take advantage, so what's a few months".
Now, all of you, enjoy your life. Now !!
But thank you anyway for all your words of support

I would, but I'm sort of limited as to what I can do and how far from home I can actually go. So I have to stay on the internet and be an agony aunt

Anyway, you got lucky with my advice. Usually I just use song lyrics...

Hang tough there Eric, be there when she needs you and remember to take some "me" time to recharge your own batteries. Don't be afraid to ask family and friends for help, they will if asked but may not know how to offer.

Oh Goodie, now the "discussion" in the "Tojo Edition" thread is back down at the "I've Been Here Longer Than You So Shut Up" level that we know so well... Losers...

Well, I've been here longer that you, T, but you have a couple more posts than me.  Which of us is right, in that case?  Should we arm wrestle, or something?
