Well I was just researching something Cap Mandrake posted on his AAR. His car dealer wanted to fill his tires with nitrogen (for a fee). No he did not buy it

What a scam though. You do realize the air we breath is already 78% nitrogen?

I ain't buyin' it (or the nitrogen).

Throw in some very small percentages of those gases on the far right of the periodic table and 21 percent O2 and you have air

The first time I heard this (this new 'service') in a tire dealership I laughed out loud. Doesn't anyone remember science class from grammar school?

Reminiscent of Penn and Teller's show on Showtime (titled as another name for bovine effluvium) where they got a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide. Think of the tens of thousands of Americans that die as a result of exposure to DHM annually, many of them children! There oughta be some sort of law, sez I!

This is the part of THE THREAD!!! where one of the plankholders chimes in and reiterates how stupid some people are.

Nah, we have had guests all weekend.  My wife's classmate from vet school 18 years ago has moved back to NC with her 2 boys.  They came over Friday evening to get snowed in here with us.

How big is your townhouse?

It's a good size, 3 bedroom, around 2600 sq. feet.

Supposed to get a real blizzard here tomorrow. I might theoretically end up in a situation where I can't get to work. We shall see...

I think the Military channel is being co-opted. There is one show today about " LBJ and the Civil Rights Movement ", followed by " The MLK Jr. Assassination ". Both may be interesting topics, but what the hell are they on the MC for ? I guess the History Channel ran out of programming room due to all of the " Ancient Aliens " and Bigfoot shows.

I have been noticing this as well which really sucks because they have had some really good shows on there probably will turn into another reality network soon.

You can always hike (i.e. go on foot)...

BTW, how long it would take (best case scenario)?

Dixie, I strongly recommend against filling 'tyres' [sic] with liquid nitrogen. Your milage will NOT vary, as there will be none.

But, it would be a cool effect to see a car try to drive with its tires filled with N (aq.), eh?

Work was closed today because of the ice from melting snow. We have a lot of folks who simply don't know how to drive on this stuff. It will melt a lot today and hopefully be better tomorrow.

Assuming that it doesn't refreeze overnight and glaze over. That's a fine recipe for 'black ice'. I'd stay off the roads as much as possible with those ice drivin' noobs. ESPECIALLY if I was drivin' some high falutin' Jaguar.
