Greece

* The island of Aegina and the city of Athens go to war. The island has earned the enmity of Athens by earlier submitting to the Persians. The Spartan King, Leotychidas, tries unsuccessfully to arrange a truce in the war.
* The Athenian Archonship becomes elective by lot from all the citizens, an important milestone in the move towards radical Athenian democracy. There are nine archons and a secretary. Three of the archons have special functions: the basileus, or sovereign; the polemarch (originally a military commander); and the archon eponymous (chief magistrate), who gave his name to the year.

Births

* Gorgias, Greek philosopher (approximate date) (d. c. 376 BC)

Good grief, Charlie Brown!  The kids here are off school AGAIN tomorrow!    At this rate, I'm never going to get back to my office.

Did I sound like I was seriously bummed, or what?

Nebraska is the world? Actually it's more like the sign Harpo was carrying in "Duck soup". Join the Navy to see the Army! (in this case Air Force).

Look on the bright side, they could have sent you guys to Nauru or something. Besides, if they say Nebraska they probably mean Stockholm.

Stockholm is good. I could like Stockholm. A lot. A whole lot! But I think I'm cracking the code. Ya ask for overseas, ya get Nebraska. Ya ask for Nebraska , ya get Nebraska. Ya ask for a coast , ya get Nebraska. (Something is wrong here. I'm detecting a pattern).

You would be so welcome

And nice to see you again pasternakski.

Morning tithe... The woman formerly known as PRHN showed up at my department on Monday morning for a social call.

I first saw her at a distance, and had to take a moment to remind myself if I'd landed on my ass or my head on Friday...

China

*The first part of the Grand Canal of China is built during the reign of King Fuchai of Wu. It links the Yangtze River with the Huai River, and is a measure to ship amble amount of supplies north for intended wars with the northern states of Song and Lu.

Poor old Cassius; tried to be the first Roman Emperor, but didn't have Julius Caesar's ruthlessness.

Morning!

Had my first AE adventure yesterday, Coral Sea.

Managed to wipe out the invasion TF heading to Port Moresby, and then the japanese bombed the hell out of my carriers....lost Yorktown and Lexington badly damaged, carriers groups dead except some pilots.

Shokaku and Zuikaku where hit in return and went home.

Cool.
