The Searchers is on TV this afternoon. I'm seriously considering breaking my self-imposed ban on watching television.

The Searchers is my favorite Western, and one of my favorite movies.

Good morning, all...

Just curious how many of our FUR-EN-UR thread friends will be watching our Super Bowl today? Just curious?

Not even if you paid me, and seeing as you aren't then definately not. I really can't see what the fuss is about, I tried watching a game but found it dull, confusing and a waste of my time. Clearly it holds some sort of interest for you chaps (like baseball, or like football does here) but I can happily live without ever seeing another game of girly rugby ever again

Is it some sort of misguided attempt to understand the American mind?

Gave up that idea long ago ...

Some 10-15 years before, there was a channel here in Sweden that used to show a weekly NFL game. I used to watch that with one of my friends who had been a foreign exchange student in the US. He explained the game to me and after that I began to really like it.

As a married person, be thankful if you don't someday have to say that about the last 36 years - and not have food poisoning as a convenient excuse...

It is quite a fascinating game in many respects, but I just cannot take it seriously. The buy-in factor (knowing all the players etc) is just too steep. In may aspects world football is even worse. While the game itself is much more readily understandable, in order to figure out league mechanics you need an MBA.

Which is why I prefer basketball. Much more straightforward.

The Searchers is my favorite Western, and one of my favorite movies.

A great showcase for the Duke's "larger than life and flawed-but-noble" shtick.

And T - if you're viewing a good, entertaining movie, you're not "watching TV." I have satellite service, but all I use it for is for films that are not in my collection.

Like that one about how Denmark conquered the world - have you seen it?

I used to enjoy basketball when my son played it as a boy. Quite a good team they had, too.

Then they went downtown to play the black kids.

What's the definition of a mistress?

It's something between a mister and a mattress!

Goodnight.

...and what's the difference between a fort and a fortress?

A fortress has breastworks.

Thank you, thank you, you've been a wonderful audience.

Don't forget, T and I will be here all week, so bring out your friends and - whatever else you got - to enjoy the show.

That's all for me, goodnight, hope you enjoy the buffet.

It's the Lingerie Football League! If Vince McMahon had thought of this, the XFL might still be in business.

I understand that the officials refrain from calling personal fouls, so you get a lot of hair-pulling wrestling matches ... and just think how enjoyable it would be to see those things on a wide receiver flopping up and down as she snares a pass and heads for paydirt (I'm talking about the shoulder pad flaps, you shameless twit).

I like it, started watching in 1983 when Channel 4 used to show it. Went to see the Bears a few times.
