Ok then, maybe I should tell you that I also have an upcoming survival training exercise in a couple of weeks.

I suspect I have some blisters coming my way then as well ...

What does that involve?

What? Blisters?

It's a form of injury which results in the subepitheial layers of the dermis being damaged, typically from a repetitive friction-based trauma. The damaged region fills with an initial transudate followed by a serous exudate. The fluid is usually resorbed over time but the inciting subepithelial damage takes some time to repair.

Geez, I thought you guys knew SOME of this stuff...

You lost me. You sound like Simon talking about pongoes and crabs.

I think it's time to steer clear of the "Jap ASW" thread.  That one is trouble brewing.

Hear hear...I was just thinking that myself.

Seeing some responses that posted there, I just have to wonder. Why does every answer have to have a snide undertone to it?

Contrary to my background I'm not much of a drinker. I have other vices.....like sunflower seeds and gummy bears.

At the same time? Now that's a weird vice.

Never tried it at the same time, but it could be interesting.

Just to clarify, we don't use it much in planning, more for training & learning the students how to properly employ and use their assets.

Never played 3, but from my recollections of 2, there wasnt too much asset use involved and the combat resolution was more like throwing an 8-sided die.

It has been around for a while and it shows. A little clunky and CR can sometimes be very random, yes. It's still usable for our purposes, though.

I'm probably completely wrong, but my guess is if anyone;s been that seriously interested in things military, theyve probably been playing those sorts of games since they were 12.

Typical... one inconsiderate person ruins the day for many. One good thing about New Zealand; two hundred or more people would have to be run-down by a runaway train, before they'd even think of shutting-down the network in one of our cities.

New Zeland has trains?

I still do not understand how you get run over by a train. I have been a train nut my entire life. I understand that if you are even near railroad tracks you need to watch, listen and take care. I am careful in my car near railroad crossings.

Plenty of people "overlook" the crossings.

I see one of two reasons: either he was drunk and trying to get home by walking along the railroad track, or he committed suicide by jumping in front of the train.

Yup, that'll do it.

IIRC, there was a single American state (Arkansas, I believe) that accounted for something like 40% of all 'hit by train' cases in the US in recent years. Cheap shots at Arkansawyers may now abound...I'll find the reference....
