Hmmm ... looks like dilbert.com has been hijacked. There's this so called "virus alert" that pops up there now, telling you that your comp is infected and that you should download some "Anti virus" software to protect you.

Wonder how many suckers who will fall for that?

They must be suckers to fall for that.

I really don't care about them though, because I have been informed that I'm the recipient of 15% of $45 Million USD. Apparently, I have some long-lost relative in Nigeria that needs for me to act as intermediary on some financial transaction.

Here's to the big time, fellas! See you around!

At least its not one of those annoying things that downloads automatically.

But it strikes me that theyre messing with the wrong crowd.

Seems they've retaken control of thier page now

Wasnt there a way to format someone's HD by remote access (albeit gained by possibly illegal means)? Perhaps retaliation is in order.

I've wandered around in Dick a lot (sorry, couldn't resist).

Sorry, pas, but now I can't resist: I guess it's personal preference that you've wandered around in Dick a lot. In my opinion, that would be preferential to Dick wandering around in you, but whatever floats your boat, sir.

Well, it's actually a country - an entire nation of dicks - located just above the Balltic.

They take pride in being hard to understand. When tourists ask a question, they are usually just dismissed with a curt, "You don't know dick."

It used to be a democracy that, following the American example, elected a Dick Head every four years, but a coup took place a few years ago, and now the place is run by this guy:

Good job. Strike a blow against LOG.

I think I found a pic of Nik's favorite band.

Friday off and just home from work ... ahh early weekend!

Time do dig into my AE turn!

You drink coffee after work?

Just to clarify if I misunderstood your question - I drink coffee first thing in the morning, at breakfast, before I go to the bus, at work, after work, after dinner, in front of the TV, and, just to be sure, a mug just before I go to bed

My Man!!!

I'm the same way. I only drink coffee when it is ready, or when I can make some.

I loved that film, and the book as well. The first time I saw it I was fairly young so I didn't understand all of the subtext behind the plot. As I recall the original version I saw was different to the director's cut, there's some abiguity about Deckard himself that I don't remember from the first version I saw (it might have been there).
I read the book way back around that time as well when I was 13 or so.

Yeah, they messed around with it some in response to criticism. The theatrical release version had a voiceover of Deckard's thoughts and explanations, and a lot of critics hated it, so they released one that eliminated the voiceover. It sucked, of course. A later revision made it plainer that Deckard himself might very well be a replicant, but I don't think that's true to the source material, and it guts all of the philosophy underlying his whole inner conflict if true.

So, I prefer the first one.

I guess it's easier to create a more complex and realistic morality across an entire series than the 2 hours of a film. I've seen some fanatstic rows break out over canon issues, they seem to be more common amongst the ST fans than SW, maybe there was more time for that stuff to build up. Or maybe ST fans are just nerdier I don't think there's an Ewok dictionary out there, but there are Klingon ones...

I just want someone to explain how Gene Roddenberry's "cashless society" works.

I dont suppose that the name Jack is a very popular one in that country.

Dick mothers like to name all their boys Richard, then differentiate them from each other with a descriptive add-on. As the country is literally full of dicks, the descriptions tend to be pejorative, as in, for example, Richard the Turd.

Female children are not favored and are "tracked" into subservient social positions in service to the mighty Dick men. Many become missionaries in an effort to escape the stultifying society, but are usually held down, anyway.

Perhaps you have heard of the most famous celebrity from that country, the stock car driver named Dick Trickle?

Also, there is some popular movement to disband the country, so that the world would become Dickless. This underground seems to have leadership ties to the island of Lesbos.

Communism, pure and simple. Actually, I think its more of a barter society than anyone cares to admit. The more successful you are, the more material perks you get "for free". But TNG and especially DS9 largely stepped back from that.

But wouldnt it be more accurate to say that if the country were disbanded, it would release a bunch of Dicks to wander all over the world?

No, it's fire pot. It's usually a hot oil that one holds raw meat into to actually cook the meat. Good stuff though.

Yes, I think this is right. Many, many politicians in this country (and others) hail from that country. While they try to obscure their origins, we all know deep down inside that they're all a bunch of Dicks. One of my nom de plumes, Hugh G. Reksion, hails from this land, IIRC.

More contemporary culture influence than any intended point, IMO. If you were to "show" the future, what would you show?

oh yeah.....almost forgot about that....then again Season 1 was so very pretentious. ("Humans no longer exploit animals for their own means" Alien: "yes...well WE do.."

Thank god they toned down the haughtiness and holier than thou factor a bit in later seasons.

Are you telling me that Hollywood actually screwed up a movie by piggy-backing their own not-clever view of the world on someone else's work?

Really looking forward to my next PBEM turn... I lost 27 subs at Manila I think, but my opponent is busy in RL, so we have had to wait. We are both gagging to get on with it, but my friend really has no choice but to stay focussed on his life at the moment.

Sounds like a KB Alpha strike on Manila-turn 1?

Yup! 2 day turn as well...

Patch three's imminent arrival means my second pbem is on the horizon. It should be interesting as my opponent is learning AE by playing Nemo...
