btw, I was just taking only a very slightly different approach to someone who just posted this:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2391909

Simon, I laughed when I read your post there. Sadly, I believe your sarcasm was completely lost on the original poster.

You IT guys are brutal....have some sympathy.......if we were all as smart as you in this stuff, we wouldn't need you. And you'd be out of work.

No, it's the whole "tell me how to do it, I can't be bothered to look" thing. There's a WHOLE thread devoted to that subject. And not even an acknowlegdement of thanks.

I want to see this thread. Come round to my house and type in the address for me Simon.

It's geographically dead center in the middle of the USA. Which is why it was chosen to be headquarters for the Strategic Air Command (now absorbed by Strategic Command, the reason my spouse has orders there) during the cold war.

Of course in two years I'll probably be back in either Washington DC or Jacksonville Florida so you might want to put off your visit till then , unless you really like steak, corn and horses!

Hey, i like Steak and corn, and my spouse like horses. I mean, not for eating, you see

Cool. And of course there will be airplanes. Lots and lots of airplanes. And beer.

Planes and beer, i like too.
Now, if i could convince my wife .

I'm sure Lou and Claire can find lots to do. If nothing else, complain about what idiots their husbands are! I belive you have a phrase for it "La specie imbecile" or something like that?

We will have to do a middle of the US WITP AE Summit! Bar B Que style! How about August!

Why not? Why not indeed...

WOW. This might actually come together. And we planned it without the influence of alcohol!

Don't forget that North Platte, NE has the world's largest railroad classification yard.

I don't suppose Simon, that there is any way a person could show his appreciation for the help by sending a bottle of Highland Park, is there?

Yes there is, and it would be appreciated in all senses of the word.

PM me with the details how (US Mail prohibts sending of alcohol, as you know from having lived here) and we'll see what we can do!

btw, no need to thank me for this link

In reference to WITP AE, Hastings, Nebraska was the site of a huge naval ammuntion storage depot. When I was a kid it was miles and miles of bunkers. I wonder if it's still there.

By the way, August sounds good to me, too.

What will be really difficult for me is that it's a USAF base. The last two USAF bases that I was stationed at , Andrews AFB and Lajes AFB , well , lets just say that I remain incognito when I visit them! Some people just don't have any sense of humor. Then , there that time in 1979 when my whole flight crew got in trouble at Minot AFB . My squadron was permanetly banned after THAT airshow!

Now you got me curious ... what did you do?

Say's who? And I worry about anyone who thinks that foreign policy (or any other kind for that matter) should fit on a bumper sticker. If that were the case , we'd be divided into two camps, 1) "Yea-ha!" and 2) "I surrender!"

I'd really like there are "grown-ups" out there that don't belive in "governannce by sound-bite"!

I think the point of that was that a foreign policy should NOT fit on a bumper sticker.

We are legion! There is a reason that among "trekkies" Klingon is more popular than Vulcan. Blowing stuff up is fun! BTW , I notice that you play WITP , "peace in the Pacific". So there!

You know, it occurs to me that the perspective we get on the Klingons in canon is incomplete. After all, they are a multi-system, spacefaring (and quite highly developed) race. It follows that a significant percentage of the Klingon population is engaged in much less martially glorious pursuits, such as scientific research, farming, commerce, etc. So the image we have is somewhat like making a judgment about the human race based on a few random meetings with SEALs and Marines. Ponder that a while....

Among those of us who are actually up on the latest developments, that particular bit of weaponry is commonly referred to as a BFG.

Sorry for the misspelling, Grollub. Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

I thought someone was going to call me on the absence of the indefinite article in that exclamation. It is my understanding that K'Plah needed to be followed with 'ho' (sic) or another indefinite article. When included the linguistic usage is as a Klingon 'greeting', but strictly translated meant "What do you want?"

Now that's keeping with the underlying tone in language.

Youre just making that up.

Sure thing. I'll bring my 8" boning knives, rib cutters, poultry shears and #22 scalpel blades with me. I'll take care of those pesky nails in a gif, Sprior. What's your address?
