Yuri have seen the bill? Did you get a hold of a copy somehow? We've (most people I know in the DC area) have been trying to do that. Is it on line somewhere? It was promised that all legislation would be on line 5 days before signing , but I don't know anyone whose found it. If you or anyone out there can point me in the right direction, I'd be very , very greatful.

No. The points I mentioned were the consistent threads I've found in the various sources I read and listen to, while there is a lot of disagreement on the finer points. I imagine they'll post it fairly soon, or at least the more contentious parts.

What did you do to your back, Steve? You can't be laid up. You have packing and moving to do!

No kidding! And I'm supposed to start my househunting road trip! I've put off departure till Monday, and I'm babying it with ibopropen and a heating pad. It seems to be a problem with tension vice an actual pull, so I'm pretty sure things will be alright. I'm just going to force myself to take it easy this weekend.

I'm sure beer will fix ya right up. Feel better.

No , he's right. And he's wrong. If no one goes any further than we have , and don't use this as a precedence for more of this kind, I think we'll be alright. I find his language more disturbing then our "skirting the edge" on the no politics rules. It's a matter of knowing where the boundries are , and NOT crossing them. We got close to the edge , in a way that should make all of us nervous (I know that I was , and tried to answer Leo's question from a historical/sociological point of view , not My personal opion on the laws and parties involved). And nervous we should be. We should all be nervous when approaching that line. And hopefully all recognize where the boundries are. (And I hope that I recognize the boundries and haven't crossed over due to a pain medication induced haze! ).

Well, he's right in the sense that it probably should have been replied to via PM. On the other hand, we (regular Threadians) are not children. We can usually draw the line for ourselves. I draw the line at when a conversation which might have a political topic turns into a debate. At that point I would say take it to PM. This would also exclude political humor. But as none of the replies crossed that line, I dont feel that that outburst was warranted (completely leaving aside the point that it was rude and just plain bad form).

Recognized most of them . . . assuming some in the background were filler not athletes. That was a frightening amount of polyester.

OT: My brother was in the PBA during the golden age of bowling/polyester. I never seem to let him forget about it either. Needless to say, I forwarded the link to him with some additional personal commentary.

Steve,

I've dispatched several IJN cruisers towards your lines. They are wishing you well by conferring ancient Japanese remedy for backaches. Please do not interfere with their special delivery, as it may disrupt the 'chi' that they hope to bring to you. They wish to provide you with (eternal) peace, harmony and remove your backache, headache and all else that ails you. Soon you will be blissfully adrift, do not resist.

OK...

I've called the government printing office and basically they have no idea when they'll get it.

Basically we are forced to take other peoples (who may have an agenda) word for it. I really don't care for that , and find it VERY unusual. And more than a little disturbing.

Man, I seriously thought about replying to Leo in a PM.  Now I wish I had.

T is reacting very strongly, but he's also very right that one of the cardinal rules of THE THREAD!!! is no politics.

There are too many of us here who come from very different backgrounds and political positions to let it rear it's ugly head.  Keeping politics out of THE THREAD!!! keeps it a refuge from most of the rest of the crap on the internet.  My apologies to all my Thread Brothers for not remembering that.

Mike to have a political discussion requires taking a political position. We didn't. Leo asked us how the bill would affect us, not our opion. We discussed the bill from a non-partisan , detached point of view. Exactly as we discuss the 2nd world war. Not as political advocates , but as historians. T has given his opion many times, on almost every subject under the sun , with a lot less consideration for the opions, concerns and feelings of others that you have and continue to show. In my view , you have nothing to apologize for. Nor do the rest of us.

As I recall, I was the first one to reply. So if there is any blame, it's on me. However, I stand by my previous statement. All jokes aside, we are adults, and can respect each other and each others opinions (at least in theory and until proven otherwise).

Morning Guys... hope everybody is well (back is not too painful). I see there has been some toys thrown around, and that 'someone' has left the building. Hopefully the exile doesn't stay away too long (I need his spell-checking), and the rest of us try and stop being adults (If you don't like that bite me).
