Morning tithe. Cant believe its Thursday already.

You're back at work. You are supposed to look forward to the weekend!

Oh, I am. I am.

I'm definately not. I'm positively dreading Sunday.

Roadtrip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah , from hell! Do to the Navy constantly interfereing with our plans, time, etc., the whole thing has been reduced to a "there and back again" trip. No vacation, no detour to Florida, and no good weather! No wonder I feel like a Hobbitt with a bad back! (and by next weekend, I'll be able to add a sore butt!).

I just wanted to ensure that you can get your 'sore butt' out of the way today-no sense in waiting until next weekend! Cheers! Banzai!

I am currently playing WPO I have an aar going in the forum but its against the A.I. Also speaking about the airpower its not totally ineffective I have planes operating off of the CV HMS Argus that have sunk a good number of Japanese merchant ships with their torpedos. One of my planes bombed a tanker last night the bombs are really not very effective but every little bit helps when you gonna jump them with some bigger ships.

Did any of you guys catch the thread nuking today?

Somebody called "Misconduct" (I wonder if he appreciates the irony?) posted links to illegal e-book copies of Osprey titles in a thread on the forum. Lasted less than 20 minutes before Erik deleted it. Wonder what (if anything) went through "Misconduct"'s brain when he made that thread?

Bedtime...

it is a very, very emotional subject here. Especially in the DC metro area (where I currently reside).

L'object du jour. Literally.

Yeah. The people here have a very short attention span. Mainly because of the population make up. Most cities and states have insane asylums and pychiactric hospitals. Then about 40 years ago people figured out that it was far cheaper to just send the inmates to congress. And far more entertaining!

And the TV stations? Although we seem to keep all the pundits here.

Most of the Networks are still in NYC. (NYC!) Some have DC bureau's ,and of course CNN is still in Atlanta. I'm not aware of any networks based in DC.

Upon later review, I find disturbing evidence that not all my synapses were firing this morning.

What I meant to say was that you guys have all those reporters running about with microphones trying to talk to people.

Air power in WPO is not terribly valuable or usefull. There is a patch. I thought they had the sync issue resolved, but don't know. Simon? You were quite involved in WPO testing. Any comments?

Airpower is negligible in WPO so don't sweat it. Didn't know the synch issue had ever arisen in WPO, I certainly never saw it.

Thanks for the answer, guys. But this is another instance of synapse failure. My questions were about vanilla WitP.

The first one was about how much of a PITA is it to install, with 10 patches and all.
The second was whether they ever sorted out the sync issue that made most of my previous PBEMs barely playable. In one case, I didnt notice that a ship was sunk until 4 turns later when I couldnt find it at the place where I expected it to show up.
And the third question was since so much of the AE air model seems to be based on NikMod, would it be worth trying to play WitP with it.

I was very excited about WPO myself at first. Then the more I saw peoples reaction, the more I got the impression that strategically and game-wise it was not a success. My impression was that there is a flurry of activity and a bloodbath of violence in the first few months which turns into boredom and inactivity. So I never bought the game.

Look whose talking. You dont work, youre in the military.

Jokes aside, I'm loving it so far. Besides learning the ropes and the systems, I'm trying to curb by exuberance to avoid appearing unnaturally enthusiastic.

Thank you kind sir. My take on advantages is as follows:

1. I had Tanaka as my TF commander. What was your commander's Fetchmyslippers' naval and agressive ratings?
2. You had just finished bombarding the p*** out of Attu when I caught you. I would bet your CA and CL AP ammo. was low from the onset of the surface shoot out. There's also the issue of the 'bombarding disadvantage' when such a TF is caught by one intent on surface combat.
3. You did get the first shot after RADAR identification. However, your CA's first salvos were ineffectual, thus remitting any bonus conferred by said ID.
4. Early salvoes from my CAs selectively hit your fire control centers-particularly on the Santa Fe. I would venture that this rendered her command center a charnal house aflame.
5. Long lances make a mess out of damaged light cruisers. I believe that Kiso provided that kindness.
6. Don't know why the allied torpedoes failed to score. IIRC, Nachi scored with 3 TTs against Wichita herself.
7. CA Maya was dealin' it with her 20cm guns. Penetrating hit after penetrating hit after penetrating hit. Working up and down the line. Her gunnery was something to behold. The allied reprisal was muted by comparison, but Maya got into the action a little later than the others.

Very well played! Still seems a suprise that my forces , despite sighting you 1st (via RADAR) and being evenly matched , came off so badly. Lesson learned!

I don't know my commanders ratings , but they should have been good. His name was Raymond Spruance. He survived , but I fired him. I've been having a problem with him, he doesn't seem to like to fight. In a match against the AI he had 3 CA's 2CL's and 6DD's and he went up against a AK. He ran. Three times he refused to engage. Full of fuel and ammo, lot's of op points.

Thanks Simon. That matches my assement totally!   BTW , is anyone currently doing a WPO scenario?

I was very excited about WPO myself at first. Then the more I saw peoples reaction, the more I got the impression that strategically and game-wise it was not a success. My impression was that there is a flurry of activity and a bloodbath of violence in the first few months which turns into boredom and inactivity. So I never bought the game.

Once again , I like the shorter scenarios. The long ones are , well long. And they draggggggggggg............

Isn't Spruance a carrier commander?
