Depends what the other conditions are. from what I hear -20 can be just very still and crisp. I wouldnt recommend peeing outside, but if you are well dressed, it's hardly even uncomfortable. But if its humid and windy, its absolutely miserable.

Exactly. It's not unusual with temps below 30C up north. When those temps happens, it's usually very dry and no winds, which means that if you have dressed correctly it's no problem.

Or as the Norwegians say (and maybe Swedes and Finns too?): there's no bad weather only bad clothes.

Although I can promise you that when it is 1C and mist-raining here in the southeast, there are NO clothes sufficient to keep one warm.

To be honest, I like the horseradish and yorkshire pudding part. I will even do that in my own cooking.

We say that as well. Also, in swedish, the words for "weather" and "clothes" actually rhyme with each other.

Edited; In swedish "det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder".

Morning, zonked out on Allegra, tithe.

It's funny. I use Allegra because Zytec did the same thing to me. You need lots of coffee (or in your case, black tea!).

Youre not kidding, buddy.

3 cups before 10.....and I was still barely comprehending.

Luckily, my new employer, unlike my old one, provides free coffee. In fact, they have this cool machine (which I saw there for the first time) which comes with little cups of grounds that you deposit in a certain slot and just press a button. Not only does it brew you a cup, but also disposes of the grounds for you.

Arctic conditions are usually VERY dry. But you are absolutely correct about the wind. I'd much rather face that temperature in Greenland than half that cold in Chicago!

Yep. LI winters are miserable that way. And the city, fugheddaboutit. The whole place is a wind tunnel.

I take Allegra every day for pet and seasonal allergies. It doesn't bother me, but when I need to add a Benedryl on really bad days, look out!

Yes, I have pet allergies and I married a veterinarian. We have 2 dogs and 4 cats currently.

I get this feeling that youre all bout self-sacrifice, Mike.

Today while researching Urumqi I learned something of vast importance. Who was General Tso of General Tso's chicken? He was a 19th century Chinese general (a contemporary of Custer) that was involved in recapturing Urumqi and Kashgar for the Chinese Empire from a local warlord.

As far as I'm concerned, he is added to my list of war criminals for crimes against chickens along with Colonel Sanders.

Do you also take offense for what the Mongolians did to cows?

No, but I do take offense at what the British do to beef.

Beef, huh? I was wondering what that mystery meat was.

Wow. That actually sounds tasty.

Maybe you guys should stop naming your dishes, just list the ingredients. Much more appetizing that way.

Its a sign of the times. 100 years ago a gentleman would be having brandy and a cigar.
