Josh is making me smile tonight, he's recently found his voice and is taking every opportunity to gurgle at anybody who might be listening.  And everybody who isn't...

The kicker was that I was nominated to chair this committee. One of my colleagues threw me under the bureaucratic bus big time.

I'd rather be thrown under a real bus.

The other day I was hit with the "opportunity" assignment of being made responsible for electronically registering a specific subset of procedures that are performed in the department. I have a feeling that this "opportunity" only arose in front of me because nobody else wanted it...

A couple more months of this, and I think I'll start writing e-mails to Scott Adams. Or I'll have quit.

Night, y'all...

Its a sign of the times. 100 years ago a gentleman would be having brandy and a cigar.

I'm having wine and a pipe...does that count?

If youre French, yes.

You do have a "thing" for the French, don't you!

Actually, I do. I might have been a very fulfilled Frenchman.

Good job on the Subject Line. Again.

I somehow got trapped into chairing (I'm not making this up) the committee on committees. Nothing else comes close.

OK, I'll bite. What did this committee do?

[shudders]
The committee on committees was charged with identifying other faculty members for placement into unfilled positions on university committees. We sent out and followed up on nominations or identified likely *willing* nominees by their placement within the university and their professional interests.

Of course, there were few willing nominees who were so disposed to pointlessly pad their CV and waste their time on redundant and ineffectual advisory committees. So getting willing nominees was like pulling teeth. Can't blame 'em one bit-the value of such university service meant exactly Delta India Charlie Kilo.

My job as chair was to chair the meetings, produce an agenda for the meetings, solicit nominees from other committee on committee members and the faculty body on the whole.
[shudders]

We made the Federal Government look smart, effective, timely, fair and streamlined.

Next year I will chair Faculty Council within my current college. Guess what one of our / my responsibilities will be?

I figure I must have been a mass murderer in a previous life or something. This must be some sort of karmic retribution.

Thread, I've been so busy lately that Brother Mynok is soon going to start wondering if I've left him for another PBEM partner.
