Men, Art, AFV, Air (total available and total ready.

So the first one for the Germans for Air: 3027 (2297) would be total 3027 and ready 2297

I wanted to see what would happen if I set up a game with me taking the Soviets and putting the AI in charge of the Axis, on HARD. Prior to beginning the game I dismissed Halder whom is in charge of O.K.H. and replaced him with Rommel (I need a good challenge). Here are some of the first turn messages.

Some of the details can't be seen, but here is some data:

The first dialog box (from the event log) shows that Northwest Front commander Fedor Kuznetsov is dismissed, Leonid Govorov takes command of the Northwest Front, Western Front commander Dmitrii Pavlov is arrested and EXECUTED and Aleksandr Ryzhov takes command of the Western Front.

The second dialog box shows the ground losses the Axis AI inflicted and suffered, here they suffered 12,939 men lost, 320 artillery pieces lost and 146 AFV lost to my Soviet totals of 409,460 men lost, 5,194 artillery pieces lost and 4,490 AFV knocked out.

The third dialog box shows the total air losses for each side and details out by type, but we are only really interested in the totals (or at least I am) and the AI lost 132 planes to my 3,891.

The fourth dialog box shows the total units destroyed for the duration. In this case the AI managed to destroy 4 Soviet tank divisions, 1 motorized division, 15 rifle divisions and 13 fort divisions, plus sundry smaller units, which all together added up to 63 units lost.

The last shot is the map zoomed out (spliced together).

Not bad for a Rommel lead AI, at least in my books.

dlazov6...thank you; thank you; thank you;

I would be greatly interested in how the AI continues its attack...The trick is always how the AI does on the offense in my opinion...is there a way someone could do an AAR as the soviets in 41 or as the Germans in 44...it would be great to see the offense in action.

...and that's what really happened to Pavlov after his command was largely destroyed. I wonder if other (non-historical) arrests and executions happen in the game if a general loses really badly?

PD,
It is against the law in Germany to display a swastika. If Matrix does it anyway it cannot sell the game in Germany or face legal action with fines and even incarceration. Also please note that at least some Matrix people live in Germany so it is not an idle threat no matter how you look at it.

Well, Scarface Kubler is doing better than in real life: after promotion to command 4th Army, he was demoted back to command a Corps and packed off to Yugoslavia (where he was captured and eventually executed by Tito after the war)!

I don't see how the game can promote a Corps Commander to Field Marshal - is this a glitch?

There are currently 5 leader ranks for each side.  It's an abstraction and more ranks may be added after launch.  So it could be Kubler had an army level rank even though he was only commanding a corps and when he got promoted it was to a Field Marshal rank.

There haas been some issues concerning translations of certain German words into English i e Abteilung. I suggest that all German units use the original German units designations. Infantrie, Artillerie, Nebelwerfer, StuGIII, etc. Heeres Gruppe Mitte, Kampf Gruppe, Division, Regiment, Zug etc. What does everyone think?

Depends on who is doing all of the data work

it may not seem like it, but that is a major deal

My personal preferance would be english. However i would also be interested in hearing what everyone else thinks.

They stated along time ago that everything would be in English - sounds like a good Mod project, though.

Well I think keeping it in English is the better option, since if they do it wrong then it just irritates people. f.e. your post already contains 3 mistakes/typo's, it is Infanterie, Heeresgruppe Mitte and Kampfgruppe.

While I wouldnt mind seeing German as I'm fluent in the language, Russian is "Greek" to me. Put in German names and a justifiable call for Russian will shortly follow.
Sticking with English for all names seems a wise compromise.

Keep it at least easy modable, please, that we can change these files for ourselves. I don't consider it as much work, to swap like one or two dozens of English terms through appropriate German ones. And for spreadsheets one can even accomplish this by 'search&replace'.

not sure if I have seen anything on this stuff, will show how to reinforce a Combat unit during a battle, when you don't have time to rest

this is one of my SU Guard Corps, been fighting Hot and Heavy, trying to break though the German line

as you can see, good morale and Exp, but kind of low in CV and troops, now that I have cleared up a pocket behind the front, I am moving those troops forward

now the stack has over 31,000 men in it, right click on one of the Brigs, then click on the Merge line

and repeat with the next one

my Corps has gone from 23 to 31 K

as you see, my Morale and Exp has gone down, it will take a little while for it to return, or a couple of good battles will help (of course, a couple of bad battles will hurt)

under attached, I have added a Tank Reg, a Tank Bn, and a Sapper Bn

(those won't show on the ToE page as such, but will show in the icon to the right, you can also click on one of those to show what the Unit looks like)

much easier for the Russian side then the German Side, but still doable
