And just for the record, I don't care for Hitler, OR Jefferson! John Adams all the way baby!

A Maine federalist...who would have guessed?

And what's wrong with that! You could easily have a worse president than John Adams!

No southerner is going to condone a federalist.

Maybe no True southerner. But there are more northerners in the south than southerners!

Only in a few states.

I still fondly remember the rant Stewart fired off at the Democrats when they lost the Massachusetts senatorial special election.

One of quite a few, bur certainly one of the funniest.

Well literally it means to have fish to eat and and a **** to sit on, however, it's more or less "to have your cake and eat it too" to want everything with little to no personal sacrifice, etc etc. hopefully noone else has offered a meaning yet as i haven't read up to page 748 yet.

Sounds like a really beautiful place to live. I have not been to France for many years, but it remains as one of my favorite countries. I've been working again on learning to speak and read French, but I still struggle with it.

Sadly for you, it is supposed to be a very difficult language to speek it really well. But to be understood, i think it is manageable.
Good luck, and in case you doubt, just ask

Afternoon by the way.

Sadly, i must confess that speaking french is of no use actually, except for tourism in France. But nothing more request to learn it by now. 3 century ago, sciences, philosophy, history, were all discussed in french.
Well, of course, 5 century ago it was in latin, and 20 century ago it was in ancient greek . Each era has it's main language.

About Canada.....well, Quebec is talking a old form of French. And sometimes, it is hard to understand for "modern" french (here, modern doesn't mean "better" but just "newest" ).
