Well at least it seems they respond there if I lodge an issue.

Thanks for the help Andrew. I really hope you can get those mods up and running I'd love to try them out (I'm still learning MMCC3...)

Can you confirm they are still up and running? I have been trying for the past couple of days on and off without success - the connection always fails. If you are able to get to the Campaigns ok, then I will have to check my own connectivity...

For example, I just tried now, and can't connect.

I can confirm they are back down again.

I'll send another help desk report....

EDIT: Help Desk report filed. I'll let you know when I get a response.

The physical servers keep rebooting as far as i can tell.

I've notified matrixgames but they don't reply to me.

I can sit on my PC and restart the mmcc3 servers every time the physical servers reboot but you'll have to send me $100 a day to do that ;0)

If Daniel Heath reset the servers he only created one more restart for me to attend to.

What ever is causing the physical servers to reboot multiple times daily is the problem that needs fixing..... previously they ran for months on end without having to be reset except when campaigns finished.

I already paid $50 for the game.....

So do I need to lodge a more serious complaint here with them?

This is certainly not something I'm happy with as a paying customer and its starting to negatively effect my opinion of matrix...which has always been very high until now.

When we first launched CoI, the MMCCIII Campaigns ran with no problems.

I have no idea what has changed since then, though I guess they were moved on to a new Server? It has to be a Windows Computer (does not even *need* to be a Server), and has to have the MS Java VM installed. If they are using the latest Windows Server, there could be a compatibility issue (Windows 7 reports a compatibility issue with the MSJVM, though you can ignore the error message when installing it and it seems to work anyway). Whatever the reason, I believe they are duty bound, if not legally bound, to provide the Service.

We all appreciate that technology can present us with challanges, but the lack of communication from Matrix (Andrew excepted) is appalling. For politeness sake, I refrain from venting my true opinions.....

I have asked Trading Standards for advice and waiting their response.

What's funny is that the help desk says they will email me when it is fixed, yet I never got an email when they reset them the first time.

I've sent another (new) request to them since my updated issue seems to be either ignored or lost.

I'm going to keep it up until hopefully something happens.

Thanks Andrew. It's good to know someone is listening...

I was much more to the point this time in my understanding of the issue. Hopefully, I get a detailed response instead of 2 lines.

quote:

The MMCC3 servers are down again. Is there any way to keep these things running for more than an hour?

I've checked multiple forums and this seems to be a ongoing problem. While I understand an occasional need for a reset....having to report this issue multiple times a week is too much.

Can I get some information on what is happening besides "They've been reset enjoy!" because if I'm going to get into the habit of doing this 10 times a week I'd like to at least know someone cares and is working on the problem instead of just resetting it so that it works for a few hours. I mean I was able to log on once...then an hour later they were down again!

Come on guys, I've been a big supporter of Matrix and this is really souring my opinion of the company.

Everyone here should continuously file a help desk report on it. The more people that continue to mention that something is wrong...one would think would make them more likely to look into it.

So go file an issue!

you need to load it using modswap.
The MP thing is a plug in/mod.

I'm actually on Hamachi right now if you want to chat about CC. If the servers are actually working we could try a game...

http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=News&file=topics&topic=36\

EDIT:

I'm on servers...port 2110

Go to Command Center
Launch Modswap
Go to File
Install
Then install MMCCIIIMultiplayer

I have game up near Brest. If you get it installed join up!

EDIT:

Go to your CoI folder and manually launch CCMODSWAP.EXE
Then load mod.

Do you have Hamachi or MSN?

That doesn't make any sense to me...are you sure modswap isn't already running in the task manager? You may need to kill it and then launch it once and wait for it to launch. It takes a second.

I can see that other people are on the server (It said 2 opponents at one point...now it says 1)

Even if you did connect to the server it wouldn't work. MOOXE and I tried on 2108 and 2110 but got Java errors both times. I've sent the report to the help desk.

Oh well...I was able to play against the AI for about 5 minutes before the server appears to have crashed.

Apparently when you use it...it breaks

Dampsquid

That means you didn't do a full install... easily missed.

Run CloseCombatCC.exe From your support folder

C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Support\CloseCombatCC.exe

Here's the error message I got when I tried to do H2H earlier with MOOXE.

It's what I sent to the help desk as well.

When I try to play against the AI it keeps telling me:

quote:

Battle results:

Attacking force was called off!

It then appears that the game is dissolved.

I've tried basically every sector with the same effect...

Is this a help desk reportable event or something you can deal with Andrew?

Stop hitting OK - you are cancelling the game

Instead go and play CC3, after you complete a battle by winning or losing a map, not both sides still in control of some VL's, exit CoI then hit OK

See this MMCC3 how to video

http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/coi/CoI_MMCCIII/CoI_MMCCIII.html

It includes depictions of what happens if you don't have a map, and if you cancel the game mistakenly.

That pages isn't loading correctly. It seems to be hanging up.

The manual for MMCC3 isn't very clear on what to actually do when at this stage. It's actually quite lacking looking back at it. But I understand now...when that window comes up saying the battle force was thrown back I go and play the game then after that...come back and hit ok?

Thanks for the help Andrew. I'll give all this stuff a try later tonight.
