Could someone please explain how the ship rearmament is ports work. I have read and reread section 20.1.2.2 in the manuel and can not seem to understand it.

I sent two carrier TF's to Ponape for resupply. Ponape is a level 4 port with 4,169 supply and an AE in port (USS Lassen) also with supply. The TF's have been refueled and rearmed with torpedos as there is also an HQ present, but I cannot get new sorties. I tried breaking a carrier free so that it could dock - no luck. The message that I get is that the carrier cannot completely rearm at Ponape. What gives? How do I rearm them?

Thanks

Page 287 in manual, "Sorties". There you see that you need at least size 6 port to replace sorties (if you do not have Naval Support) in base.

Or lvl 5 with 40 Naval Support
lvl 4 with 78 NS
lvl 3 with 94 NS etc.

OR AE or AKE in port.

Since you have AE in port, check that it has supplies loaded (won't work without). One reason can also be that Port supply level is too low for rearming.

The AE needs to be disbanded into port too in case you have it in a docked fleet.

That is the problem...thanks to you and Sardaukar for helping. Now to get back to 'my turkey shoot' in the seas around Rabaul.

AE Does NOT need to be disbanded, you can have it in the port - loading supplies (as I do) and use Naval replenish, only check the Ops of both carrier/AE/Port first to make sure everyones happy, sometimes it takes a few turns.

I usually leave AE's as a replenish TF docked and loading supplies, because the more you use the AE - sometimes they go -65,000 in supplies, so I simply leave them loading untill fully loaded, then "load" supplies again.

A related question: what is the level of supplies that needs to be loaded onto the AE/AKE (or other tenders for that matter) in order for the rearmament to work?

- minimum 1
- the required points as per the rearmament table
- fully loaded

Cheers,

Moss

I am not sure about the AE not needing to be disbanded. Having the AE in port with supply did not work for me, which is why I started this thread. After getting the tip from this thread I went and disbanded the AE and one of my carriers was able to replenish sorties. The other carrier could not be replenshed, which is probably what you are refering to when you mentioned 'ops'

Where do I find Ops for the carrier, AE and Port?

AEs can be used in either location. It depends on the replenish option selected for the TF.

Replenish From Port will use an AE disbanded in the port.

Replenish at Sea will use an AE in a TF at the location.

I'm reraising the question, because I still have problems rearming ships. I have an AE disbanded in port (level 3), together with a CA disbanded in port as well. The AE has a current load of 4,827, with 5,400 being its maximum cargo capacity. Which level of loading is sufficient for the rearmament to work: 1, wepaon rearmament cost or full load?

And related: do the same loading rules apply for an AKE?

Also, when does a rearmament happen? Do you have to wait 1 turn, is it instantaneously (so the moment you disband the ships in port) or will it happen when you put the ship in a TF again?

Cheers,

Moss

As Don mentioned, the Replenish button is on the TF screen. So make a TF, put the CA in it, and push whichever Replenish button lights up for you.

Weapon rearm cost is the threshold. If cargo currently loaded > weapon rearm cost, that weapon may be rearmed. As you rearm you also consume supply. ((rearm cost) x (number) x (ammo))/2000. This happens for each weapon, in order. It is possible to rearm some weapons but have the [xx next weapon cost be below the threshold xx] threshold be below the next weapon cost due to decreasing supply. (sorry 'bout that)

Yes.

Rearm requires Ops Points as well as supply. If you have enough Ops Points, Rearm happens (and consumes Ops Points) when you push the Replenish button.
