Great game with today but unfortunately USA was robbed ... Edu's goal should never have been disallowed...

Terrible call. All football fans have a reason to be angry, not just American fans. This isn't us being bitter for no good reason. It is unanimous among everyone that there was no visible foul from any camera angle. The referee didn't give a reason during the game and still hasn't. FIFA is staying tight lipped and doing massive damage control on the comments on their website (look at the comments on the US vs Slovenia game. There is not one comment about the referee AT ALL).

And it's not just that call. Koman Coulibaly had at least two other very questionable calls. For instance, calling a handball when it clearly bounced off of a players face. Me thinks someone needs to retake Human Anatomy 101.

In other news.....England tying Algeria. EMBARRASSING!

The Sun cover page: EASY (England Algeria Slovenia Yanks). Haha

If people want to know why Americans are still hesitant about fully embracing the sport of soccer: look no further than the ref calls today (not to mention the recent qualifying match between Ireland and France)

As a scot that was rather funny to watch...but as a brit, that was diabolical. Rooney ought to watch his bloody mouth. Those fans paid a fortune to travel to South Africa to watch their side perform...to hear whinging about the ball, and to see some very dismal performances - they have a right to boo them off. What they should do, rather than criticise them is turn the gas up and earn that shirt!

A shocking performance on both games - both of which really should have been in the bag!

oh there were fouls...all over the penalty area...BUT they were ALL being performed by Slovenian players...they were all over the US players like cheap suits! GAWD - I don't even know why I watch football...the refrereeing infuriates me!

Soccer is so boring 1:1 and how many hours watching that? Might as well watch the grass grow...oh wait there is grass out there isn't there?

Its so boring thats why its the most popular spectator sport is the world.Baseball is the most boring sport ever.Unless you are playing, but watching it?

Oh boy, is killroyishere around by chance? No? I'm glad that you didn't say college football is boring.....As a American I cheer for the American soccer team, and my kids when they play, but outside of that I could care less. Soccer is not an American sport and it draws far less intrest here.

After the fulminant prelude against Australia, the German performance today was a huge letdown.

After getting two goals called off for no reason (bad reasons/non existent reasons...1 in the Algerian game and 1 in the Slovenian game) the USA comes back to score in the 91'. You can only imagine how hard I was screaming. After all of this and to come and win and to top Group C means everything!

USA!!

EDIT: And a congratulations to the redcoats (all in jest ) and to all the other teams who advanced.

Germany vs England is a classic.

But whole world cup was a lackluster so far.

lol PR - did you use the word "whooping" with a 1-0 win over a side that the rebels got 2 goals by?

It was a better performance, but England have strikers that should be able to pap more than that through against a team coming from a country with 2million people. How many sitters did they miss? 3?

Anyway yes, well done...luck has all dried up now though. It's penalties against Germany - if they let you get to penalties - and I DO believe it'll be up to them

I'm looking forward to all that tabloid newspaper "Achtung Fritz! We're reaching for the sky" stuff with photoshopped WW2 helmets on the players etc. That never gets old.

Actually it's sooo old, we don't even care about this strange humor anymore. If the Germans could at least cope with the inevitable Blitz stuff, we would be half way there already.

However, the previous team attainment was so mediocre that I wouldn't bet a dime on sunday's match. Everything is possible.

I'm impressed by the level of your support Judge and your optimistic view of England's chances. You mean you actually think we will get so far as to take Germany to penalties?

No me neither, but......hope springs eternal baldrick

WitP:AE but the whole world instead of just the Pacific.............................. Ultimate World War 2.

Actually I have just recently started playing Uncommon Valor, and it reminds me of an old game from Koei called PTO. I dont know if a world wide version of WitP would work,....but I know it would be the ultimate war game ever if it would.
