Also VASSAL does not calculate anything. You still have to do all the calculations yourself.

VASSAL _can_ do calculations. But more importantly and/or succinctly, they are limited, at best. However, you should see what you can do with dynamic properties and an auto-end-of-movement-key. You can do a lot just with those two capabilities. For instance, several years ago I had a Firepower module auto-calculating and displaying all height-units for the player(s). Not exciting, but technically a calculation. *grin*

Cool! Is that AH's Firepower? The modern squad based game? Could I get a copy of the module?

Sorry but you lose again. The statement still stands. Anyone who is anyone knows a computer GAME (not a utility) must have an ai. I'm still looking for those 100's of titles of games without one??

MajFrankBurns,

Please find some civility for your fellow forum members or you'll get some time off from the forum to think things over.

I think I'm being pretty civil myself considering the rebuttals I'm getting that you're doing nothing about.

like this one:
quote:

ah mine makes more of a <F@%K YOU> type of sound

But I guess others can do what they want and you just "key" on me because I don't see every game you make as a gift from god.

Where might that one be? You can reply to me by e-mail at erikr@matrixgames.com and I will address that with whoever posted it.

I saw you post another uncivil comment in the Business Models thread after my warning. As a result, your account is banned for a week while you reconsider following the forum rules. It may come as a surprise to you that being uncivil to others tends to promote the same behavior in return, which is why we don't allow those kinds of posts on our forum.

If you have any questions, e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com. After the week has passed, your account will be reinstated as soon as you e-mail me to confirm that you understand and will follow the forum rules.

That comment wasn't directed at MFB. Eddy made a comment to him and put <plonk> on the end...Punk Reaper asked what the <plonk> was for and I said I thought it was the sound the ignore button makes...Punk Reaper then said what is quoted above. It wasn't directed at MFB...he was just making a funneh comment about what his ignore button sounds like. I doubt he even has MFB on ignore

STALINGRAD
We’ve added a couple more cards to the slideshow!
First draft of the rules is on the site!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/36/Battle%20For%20Stalingrad

Dan, how does your forthcoming Stalingrad card game differ from Clash of Arm's The Hell of Stalingrad that came out last year?

Put another way, what are the mechincs of your game in a nutshell?

Thanks,
Adam.

Sorry but anyone who is anyone knows if it's a computer game it "has to have an ai". Anything else is just a prop that uses a computer to calculate battle odds and outcomes like vassal does. That's not a computer "game".

Oh by the way, DVG solitaire games like Hornet Leader or Field Command when ported to the computer will not have an AI. So are they still computer games?

But in developing a computer game most developers do think that an AI should go with it in order to have a broader appeal.

What about Phantom Leader? It's a DVG game that is on my computer! So it meets all the criteria for a computer game! *grin*

There isn't. ...Quite yet.

Well, I did the module for myself primarily (because I just picked up the game last week). However, when I get done tweaking it (probably next week), I planned on seeing if DVG wanted anything to do with it. I couldn't legally or morally share it without specific permissions, as the module is the whole game.

Updated names on back of Hornet box...

http://images.dvg.com/www.dvg.com/hornetboxback.jpg

We'll be proofing for 1 or 2 more days, then off to the printer! Proofing 480 sides of Pilot cards (240 actual Pilot cards), 60 Target cards, 30 Event cards, 8 Campaign sheets, Tactical Sheet, Help Sheet, and Rulebook takes a while! :)

Updated names on back of Hornet box.
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/33/Hornet%20Leader%20-%20Carrier%20Air%20Operations

We're finishing the editing! We should be able to send the files in about 24 hours! This is the last chance to pre-order and get your name on the boxes.

MODERN NAVAL BATTLES
Mac Walker has done a great job of using the MNB core card game to run a miniatures game.

HORNET LEADER

Updated names on back of Hornet box and rulebook. The proofing is done, but, being so close to the weekend, we're going to hold the files for a couple more days just to go over them a few more times. If we sent them on Friday, the printer probably won't look at them until Monday anyway.

HORNET LEADER
The printer is examining the files and we should have sample games in a couple weeks! We have not raised the pre-order price to the standard price but will do so in a few days.

We’ve also uploaded the final rulebook.
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/33/Hornet%20Leader%20-%20Carrier%20Air%20Operations

FIELD COMMANDER ALEXANDER
We also ordered an Alexander reprint!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/21/Field%20Commander%20-%20Alexander%20the%20Great

FIELD COMMANDER NAPOLEON
We’re going to take a couple days off, then resume work on Napoleon. We should have new art, rules, etc posted in a week or two.

U-BOAT LEADER
Dave Schueler’s much asked about design that combines the Leader system with strategic and tactical WWII submarine warfare will soon be offered for pre-order!

FRONTLINE - GUADALCANAL
Will soon be offered for pre-order!

MODERN NAVAL BATTLES
We’ve had a lot of interest for more ship cards. We’re thinking of releasing a 110-card ship expansion. The expansion would add more ships to the existing fleets, and add a few new countries, such as Canada, Germany, and a couple more.

U-BOAT LEADER
We’ve launched U-Boat Leader for pre-order!

Dave Schueler has done an outstanding job of taking the Leader series back to the Battle for the North Atlantic. U-Boat Leader places you in command of Germany’s U-Boats as you attempt to cut-off Britain’s vital supply link.

The game allows you to deploy your boats and carryout strategic operations, and then zoom into the tactical battle level when your subs make contact with enemy ships.

If you are a fan of the Leader series, solitaire games, WWII, or naval games - please take a look at this game!

http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/38/U-Boat%20Leader

HORNET LEADER
We just received the printer sample and they look amazing!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/ch/news

The games should arrive at the start of December. We’re hoping to get the games to people in time for Christmas.

PHANTOM LEADER - REPLACEMENT CARDS
We really (really) underestimated the response from people requesting replacement cards. We’ve mailed the first batch and have ordered a second printing. They will arrive with the Hornet Leader cards.

GUNS BLAZING
Guns Blazing has launched!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/29/Down%20In%20Flames%20-%20Guns%20Blazing

We are very happy with the game and are pleased to expand the Down In Flames universe!

FIELD COMMANDER ALEXANDER
Alexander will be back in print!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/21/Field%20Commander%20-%20Alexander%20the%20Great

We’re printing Alexander right now along with Hornet Leader!

VENDETTA
We’ve created a promotional video for Vendetta on the Kickstarter web site. We are honoring the promotions on the DVG site as well as the Kickstarter promotions.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/80793621/vendetta-the-gangster-card-game

MODERN NAVAL BATTLES
MNB will be in stock again when we print Napoleon in a couple months!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/1/Modern%20Naval%20Battles%20-%20Global%20Warfare

We will soon announce a 110-card Ship expansion for pre-order! We’ll print the expansion at the same time as we reprint the MNB core game. In addition to expanding the fleets for the nations appearing in the core game (USA, USSR, UK, France, China, Argentina, Taiwan, Norway, and Japan), the expansion adds fleets for: Germany, Canada, and Italy!

VASSAL GAMES
We are taking over the Vassal ordering/downloading system and it is a slow process of getting the software up and running. If you have ordered a Vassal game recently, we haven’t forgotten you. We are working on the new system.

COUNTER TRAYS
Starting in a couple months, we’ll be offering counter trays!

MODERN NAVAL BATTLES - EXPANSION #1
Is up for pre-order!

This expansion features 110 ship cards to add to your MNB-Global Warfare fleets. The cards include more ships for the 9 navies from the first game, plus 3 new fleets: Germany, Italy, and Canada!

We’ve also added a few more non-combatants to add to scenarios.

No special or new rules needed. Just add the ships to your game and play!
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/39/MNB%20-%20Ship%20Expansion%20%231

MODERN NAVAL BATTLES
We will be reprinting MNB at the same time we send the Expansion to the printer!

MNB and the Expansion will be printed on the thick cardstock used in our Down In Flames, Phantom Leader, and Frontline games.
