Tomorrow I have to go tell two young men that we hired for the summer to box and move a ****-load of files that they've wasted the first week of work in 10000-degree weather, and they'll have to move everything back again. I hate my job.

its worse when you apply for a job....get a rejection email 24 hours later telling you that you are not suitible, then log back onto the job website the next day and find a fresh posting....by that same company for the same job they just told you you were not being considered for....thus eliminating the feel good excuse that "well maybe they already filled the position...."

Makes one feel real competant.

You're not in the Chicago area are you?

Nope. Sunny Seattle

Tonight's log-in word: IHIKER. Sounds like an Apple product, although I'm not sure what it does...

Well, I ducked and I weaved and I sweated and I whined and it looks like I've put my little situation here at work back on track.

Just one thing: we can now no longer use the word "files" as it applies to patient-related paperwork. It's now called "strawberries".

What's the reason for the code word for files? Or is there a reason?

Oh, there's a very good reason. It's too keep me from reflexively murdering the next co-worker who comes asking for a... "strawberry"...

Dudes. I'm off to the Philippines for the next 8 days. I'll take some pictures of any good historical sites I happen across. Cheers.

<sigh> all of my "historical" sites in the PI were destroyed by Mt Pinatubo...ah, Alongapo...dinner, drunk and <insert devious, twisted activity here> for under $10 US... <sigh>

How disappointed are the patients going to be? A doctor asks for the patient's strawberries to be brought in and someone turns up with a stack of paperwork...

It's better than making extra work for the morgue and the cleaning service...

4 hours since T's last post.

I have a good excuse.  I had to go to the Carolina Hurricanes' Summer Carnival and pick up some free tickets to their last home pre-season game.

Brother Brush Hat, I have heard from Torsten, and it looks like he will be in the States for a few weeks up to maybe 2 months, starting in late August.  He's hoping to come and visit NC for a Thread Brother summit and a trip to visit USS North Carolina.  Sounds like an evening spend on my deck with the grill fired up and the cooler stocked up may be in order in addition to the field trip to Wilmington.

I'll keep you in the loop, but I'm still trying to find out from him where in the States his work is taking him.  Folks from these small Euro countries can sometimes forget just how far apart parts of our country can be.

I think you should start the conversation with "How are things in your small country?"
