Well, Steve, a final 'Happy Birthday' wish from me for the night. The turn should be in your inbox to enjoy. I'm off to watch the rest of my Oakland A's v. Minnesota with a nice bourbon.

Makers Mark, perchance?

Nothing wrong with Makers. Woodford Reserve is nice too. For every day drinking though, I find Evan Williams to be just fine. It's a pretty low price point and not a bad 'every day' bourbon. That's what I had last night.

As far as the game goes, it was a very good entertaining game-right up until the point where the A's lost 4-3. D'oh.

That's easy. Pretty sure I already have some. I'll lay in more.

I'll see if they are available. The only one I know not available is George Dickel. I do Jim Beam green (but only for making mint juliep..because it's sweeter).

Post arguing with Citibank tithe.

On the one hand, they refunded all the idiotic fees they "erroneously" charged me. But on the other, one more bit of idiocy like that, and I'm closing my account.

No bash, it was just another day. (Excepting the kind wishes of my fellow Threadsters, which meant a very great deal to me!). Tomorrow night my spouse and I plan on dinner at a favorite brew pub , but that's it.

Well, rest assured that I got nice and ferschniken in your honor last night.

Graffin's presence reminds me of the fact that I was an active contributor to my wife's cloth diapering forum for some time. The only guy there. It felt a bit odd, but was decent company for a while. It was interesting to be in a position to provide (needed) 'guy perspective' on issues as the token male.

Once I broke the 1000 post barrier, that opened up some hitherto unavailable subforums that were a bit on the racy side. Cries of woe-"There's a man in our locker room" was one such lament-filled the air. I became a marked man by those who didn't appreciate my crashing the party. Eventually, a mundane (and very tame) disagreement was identified as sufficient grounds for a permanent ban. It was all very catty and back-bitey.

So, point being gents: Let's please make sure to give Graffin a more welcome reception to our forum than I have received on other female-only forums.

Actually , although AW today stands for Aviation Warfare operator, when I became one it still stood for Aviation ANTI-submarine Operator. And I have "flown on" a great Many German submarines in exercises. Mostly type 209 and older boats.

And I've also worked with German ASW squadrons (Like the Graf Zepplin squadron!)They were frequently deployed with us in Iceland.

Steve, my *favorite* bourbon is always what my kind host is using to fill my glass. Don't go out of your way for me, I'll drink just about anything, dude.

Like other displaced football and baseball fans, I find it hard to drop the teams that I grew up caring about. Once upon a time in my travels, Dallas (Cowboys) and No. Cal (Oakland A's) were home, so I've just kept following them. Plus, it gives me something to lord over the locals or cringe in embarassment from the locals, depending on game outcome.

WRT The Twins, I find it easy to like them. Well run team, good coach, very down to Earth players, no showboating or hyperegotism, good 'farm' league with solid pitching and, recently, very solid hitting. Now they've got a wonderful ballpark to showcase them too. Until recently, they had a low payroll comparatively, so there was always the 'rooting for the little guys' angle to play there too.

The Twins are growing on me as a 'local' team in a way that a team hasn't for a long time. I may consider myself a genuine fan of theirs someday. But old habits (rooting for the A's) die hard.

Crikey! That's a good way to break some pretty important bones in your leg / foot, mate. Nothing serious, I hope?

Was unable to work on it , as it was "family time". All my relatives calling, time with the wife for planning trips, vacations, weekends, chores etc. She finally left for a baby shower, so here's your turn. %$$#@#$%%^^^%$##$%% ! (That's for trouncing me so shamelessly! And your incredible luck! What next, wipe out my Wildcats with Petes? Sink my BB's with YMS's? Or worst of all, bring back the killer Emilies!?)
