Evening chaps.  I've just finished a long day and I'm tired and p****d off.  Toi cap my day off I had a chock fall onto my foot from about 4 feet up, somehow it homed in to the non steel-capped part of my boot

And I've got left-overs for dinner

Crikey! That's a good way to break some pretty important bones in your leg / foot, mate. Nothing serious, I hope?

Doesn't feel like it, it's not even bruised yet and I've been walking on it for the past 7 hours. I'm expecting it to be colourful and ******* sore in the morning though. It's the second time I've had a chock/foot interface and come away with nothing more than a bruise. I don't want to do a third time...

Feeling slightly better now I've got some scran down my neck and a big mug of tea in my hand. The fact that Josh and Amber were both happy to see me is also a boost. It's a shame Amber isn't quite as pleased o see Josh Just three more days and I'm on leave for three weeks

I've had some lucky escapes lately, I'm starting to watch my step far more. I've got away with bruises and cuts where people before me have had broken legs and concussions

You're having one arguement in French? Makes sense seeing as you're both from France

Or more seriously, there's nothing much wrong with that mate, all part of married life. Usually it proves you care enough to make a stand

Apart from the arguement Claire is doing OK then?

I just pre-ordered Civ5 from Amazon

Civ IV was the first of the series that I never played. What was your take?

Same thing here, Andre. I got Civ4 the same time I got WitP. I don't think I ever have even installed Civ4, even though I LOVED the series and played Civ3 to death.

I didn't even know they were working on a Civ5.

Well, I won't claim to know all the intricacies, but I got the jist of it.

Makes me sad that Robert will visit the forums and post anywhere but here.

I had a PM exchange with him around a week ago. He said he's well, but doesn't post in THE THREAD!!! because it's too addictive.

<checks own post count> I don't have any idea what he's thinking.

I'm going to agree with Eric, I love Civ IV. The Beyond the Sword add-on opens up a new set of possibilities as well. All the little things like religions and resources add an extra dimension to the game.

I am still playing a WITP game with Bob so we "talk" several times a week. Bob is not upset or mad at any thread brothers. He is concerned that if he starts to post in the thread he won't stop. As Mike said he finds it very addictive. If you sent him a PM or email he would gladly answer.

I don't post much any more either, but that doesn't mean I'll pack myself away from people I consider my friends. Sounds like an excuse to me.

Nothing wrong with Makers. Woodford Reserve is nice too. For every day drinking though, I find Evan Williams to be just fine. It's a pretty low price point and not a bad 'every day' bourbon. That's what I had last night.

As far as the game goes, it was a very good entertaining game-right up until the point where the A's lost 4-3. D'oh.

I'm still a Reds fan...grew up in southern Ohio watching the Big Red Machine--Rose, Bench, Perez, etc.

On my visit to Ohio last week I attended the Reds/Cardinals game with my best friend fron high school. Reds received a beatdown, but a couple of loaded Queen City Bratwursts made up for the minor disappointment of losing. It was my first time at the relatively new Great American Ballpark.

OH, so your rooting for the California team? I expected you to be cheering the locals.

Like other displaced football and baseball fans, I find it hard to drop the teams that I grew up caring about. Once upon a time in my travels, Dallas (Cowboys) and No. Cal (Oakland A's) were home, so I've just kept following them. Plus, it gives me something to lord over the locals or cringe in embarassment from the locals, depending on game outcome.

I've been in NC for over 8 years now, but I'm still a Twins fan from my 5 years there.

Even better, or worse, I've been gone from Baltimore for over 22 years, but I grew up and Orioles fan, and am still an Orioles fan.

Leaving for a combined barbecue/poker evening. Laters, fellows.

That's why I use 'dudes' when in mixed company, sir. It's such a flexible term. Gender neutral, even. Well, 'dudettes' would be more specific I guess, but who's counting?

Oh, and a good morning tithe.

Hmmm ... I don't know if anybody noticed that I quit using "gents" after GZ showed up and instead switched to "fellows", which I thought were gender neutral

GZ, if I somehow offended you, please accept my apologies.

I don't think "fellows" is gender neutral...we may have to revert to the tried and true southern greeting: "How y'all doin?" Or the blunt and to the point: "Hey!"

Whew, that's a relief.

For a minute, I thought you were upset about the pending liquidation of 96,000 Chinese trapped in Loyang. I'll have them the turn after next. Or Pushing you out of Clark with heavy losses. Or liquidating 38,000 Dutchies at Batavia turn after next.

By the way, I thought you had recovered from the whole Emily thing? PTSD?
