ORIGINAL: rtrapasso My wife has been missing calls on her cell phone for the past few weeks from someone from Arizona... she finally decided to call them (but no one answered, and there was no answering device). Tonight at dinner, she got another call from the same number and she answered it... it was some old lady trying to call her niece (whom she said had "tried to call a few days ago, but didn't leave a message"). She (the old lady from Arizona) kept insisting that my wife's number was her niece's number, and that she had called her several times... my wife finally said "Well, did you ever reach her?" Old lady: "As a matter of fact... no...." They continued to chat for several more minutes... An opportunity missed. Think of all the fun (and mischief) she might have had pretending to be the niece. The next Thanksgiving dinner would have been a laugh riot (or a food fight). Actually, my WIFE's niece was sitting next to my wife during this conversation ... both her niece and i were mystified about the length of this obviously wrong number... my suggestion (later*) was for my wife to have told the old lady "No, your niece is not here, but you can talk to my niece" and they handed over the phone to the confused niece, and watch the hilarity... EDIT: *at the time, i had no idea what was going on, especially since my wife (mis)identified the call (before she answered it) as coming from the alarm company... misidentification and FOW pertains to everyday life, i guess.
